People complain about Drill music, forgetting that outlaw country used to be popular in the 70s-80s.Americans love violence and crime, so it just makes sense that they consume content that talks about violence and crime. It just that nowadays, people listen to inner city black outlaws.
Outlaw country didn't have real world ramifications or connections. There was never anybody who lost their family member because of the rampant cowboys gunning people down in the streets.
bump
>>101890498This
drill is basically a messaging system for gangs, outlaw country was a bunch of white dudes singing about being cowboys
Easily the dumbest thread ever
Why did any metal bands even bother after this came out?
>>101891013>Don't act like le hardcore metul fan just because you posted /metal/'s favorite deaththrash that's like one layer below surface level.I completely agree, Demolition Hammer is still borderline touristcore. But it's still unfathomably better than Opeth, which is peak touristcore in both prog rock and metal.I am not the fist anon your replied to and I don't care about Gorgoroth hence why I didn't mention them.>>101891122yeah yeah cope cope seethe I get it, you could have spared wasting a paragraph of text I won't read.
The leaders of metal
>>101891166I wasn't responding to you so why would I care if you read it. In either case, I'm sure it applies to you as well. Every "metalhead" I've ever meat who only listens to metal to be unlike the other females eventually grows out of it, which makes you a poseur. Real metalheads like underground music, but they like plenty that isn't as well, it's impossible to be a true metalhead and like no well known music, period.

really want to know what the point is for keys and key signatues. scales are good for chord building maybe but that's the lot of it. to get a better understanding of scales i tried slapping together a cool-sounding chord progression and trying to figure out what the key was from that.B-A-Gpretty simple yeah but i thought it sounded cool and itnerestinganyway i couldn't figure out the key and neither could any online key-calculating programs i could find onlinei don't get it. what's the point of limiting yourself to a small collection of notes and giving yourself a ton of extra work making sure you stay in that guideline when you can just as easily make cool sounding stuff without doing that
C major
>>101891226i just wrote that up to check if it matches the key signature, there are way too many accidentals for that to be c major right?
>>101891203Exactly, fuck music theory
>>101891203You're right that it is a waste of potential to use only one key signature throughout a whole song. There are no reasons why chord progressions should not include chords from outside the parent key.
>what's the endeavor?going to listen to 1 album a day for the next 365 days. any missed day will rollover into the next, meaning I will listen to however many albums I missed that day>how do i rec music?Recs are closed now that we have reached 365. Don’t hesitate to still shoot some recs on the thread for general listening based off of the album at hand, or just because you think I or others would like it. They just won’t be guaranteed listens since the list is now full. i'll do my best to post here daily chronicling what I thought of each recced album (full list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-cJgvy3RDGApz-ZsZQ_GQATJqpjqTYeZzIFu2Nj3PuU/edit?usp=sharing)>when are these posted?I (try to) post these around 12am pst daily. Time will vary a little bit because i'm lazy and sometimes fucking retarded.rym : https://rateyourmusic.com/~oatfarmerToday’s Album : Tekashi Terauchi & Blue Jeans - Let's Go Eleki-BushiThis was pretty good stuff, but nothing that really blew me away. Just generally pretty good surf rock with fun chords and transitions, with the atmosphere of sun and beach encapsulating a lot of the tracks off of the album. This leaves it feeling pretty one-note, but not unenjoyable or annoying. Another great album to play for a roadtrip. 6.5/10
I think a lot of this stuff is better enjoyed as a mix of other artists of the time than just straight 1 album of instros, gets a bit tiring ... that being said you may like his later stuff where the production is biggerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIKhu3gSQmE
>>101890266I think I recced this one cause of seeing it on the 60s tournament (rip 2020 tournament) all that old psych Terauchi stuff is good, this album is no exception

Iv'e been playing piano for the better part of 12 years. I have decent enough technique and am very good at "feeling" the music. HOWEVER, my music theory skills are complete ass. I don't know my scales or chords to any useful degree and read notes like a five year old. It's seriously starting to hamper my ability to learn new pieces quickly since I mostly learn by watching others play and by ear. Iv'e always hated music theory and now it feels like I'm too far gone to even try.How should I practice?
>>101891191Okay maybe the transposing stuff and mixing chords stuff is harder but you can definitely analyse, go through and listen to classical music with basic music theory.
>>101891261I'll try. Thanks guys
>>101891054since you already know how the tune goes, transposing to another key with one more sharp or flat is pretty easythen transposing songs you know in different keys to the same key might let you notice similarities that you missed before and it can help you understand theory in that way, too
