Nah Twisted Metal worked because the tank controls give you better aim. Compare this to Vigilante 8 where they tried to make them handle more like cars which reduces your ability to aim. This can been seen in the weapon pickups having lots of auto aims. The pickups you see in V8 would be specials in any other TM game(minus 3&4). Obviously they did this to compensate for your worsened control but well that's why you shouldn't do it. Same issues can be seen in TM3 and TM4.
