Is there a way to still play your army the way you want to or can afford to play it, and still have fun not losing most or all of your games? I have finished collecting and painting, my 2000pts army in February and had a blast playing it. Now I wasn't winning, because people around here are all expirianced players and I was playing my first ever table top games. But I was getting better. After around 10 games I started to playing something more, then play till one side is dead games. And it was interesting too. Now GW changed my army, and it seems like the only way to play the faction is to make heavy use of resin models. Now I don't have anything against resin per se, the models look great. But in order to get just one unit, nevermind a vehicle, I would have to stop eating and paying rent for 2+ months. And the post change list seems to require anything from 2 to 4+ of such resin kits. With my saving up, this would mean I would have to not only skip summer, but also autum, winter and maybe get enough money saved up by the time next year summer rolls up. That is a lot of time to wait and I am not sure if I am made to wait that long. Maybe it would have been different, if I played longer or had models to paint. But the only thing I do have to paint is a unit of 5 infantry, and I will never use those, as they are to me ugly and not fitting my army. I don't claim that my stuff is world class tier. It isn't, but the models look just the way I like. Only thing I would change about my army, if I could do it, is for every models to have a Chlamys.

He tried to sell the army, but who is going to buy a painted army, which is bad in one go. After like a month or two of 10th ed, and getting blasted by eldar and other marine armies, he just quit. And he wasn't even a power gamer, he just liked the vehicles. I don't think that aside for his tactical squads he had any double unit in his army. Maybe a cpt on a jet bike and one with a jump jet pack.

>>92746656I'm not gonna pretend the old deldar range wasn't embarrassingly low quality, but some of the design ideas in there were interesting and could have been fun to see iterated on. Like the segmented, ridged armor Drazhar wears for his midriff, or the similarly segmented and almost ammonoid style of his tentacle-horned helmet. Not to mention the huge collar that's so wide it guards his sternum and his shoulders.Like, the model proportions and casting quality of those old models were truly trash, but the mantis-like demeanor of the model and its pose with the weapons is definitely more interesting to look at than the new one is. And adding random ribbons and trim everywhere is not a shortcut to making a model interesting to look at.

But Custodes have +1 to wound for a potentially huge part of their army as a detachment rule too, and no one thinks that one is broken. It's very strong, but the whole detachment is extremely offensively focused, it has almost zero defenses. You can hand out a 6+ fnp to a single vehicle, and heal a little bit in melee, but beyond that your vehicles are on their own which leaves them extremely vulnerable. There are other detachments with pretty crazy bonuses, like green tide and the kroot detachment.
