Are there any good Warhammer horror novels or crime ones? Anon talking about an Arbites book has me wondering.
>>

this is 4chan sir, all the novels are shit.
>>
>>92738190
Tau went undefeated at Richmond last weekend with no crisis no tetras

Shadowsun, Darkstrider, Longstrike
3 breacher fish
3 ghostkeel
3 riptides
squad of pathfinders.

Most tau lists moved away from the cyclic brick on the last points hike.

Admech lore and general nonsense, the horror toaster fuckers just scratched that Strogg itch, then before I could buy anything I gazed upon the Tyranids and my love for Contra, dinosaur/bugs and Geiger in general took over completely

Admech technically got me in, Tyranids sealed the deal

Units are playable from the space marine tier upwards. Legendary units like farseers are about 5x stronger but can only be spawned rarely. Elite units like terminators are 2-3x stronger. Space marine tier units can be spawned indefinitely. There is a relatively low chance you will run into much more powerful units.

Low tier units like guardsmen are bots that can be spawned with points that you can get from doing pve and pvp objectives. Bot armies can be directed. It may also be possible to claim 1-2 bots, making them follow you. This interactivity is an important fun factor.

The pve objectives are as follows:

Imperium: repair and start up automated factories on the industrial planet. Resources are sent to the orbit. The smoke can give away your location and enemies can attack the factory.
Votann: mine for minerals and send them to a pickup point where bots will pick it up from the orbit
Eldar: mine for psychic crystals that can be used to create portals that will provide a reasonably safe passage to the eye of terror (from where the eldar can get more soulstones for fluff)
Dark eldar: stun NPCs living in the game world and bring them to a pickup point where a bot ship will appear to pick them up
Tau: use a hypnotic device to brainwash NPCs living in the game world and bring them to a pickup point where a bot ship will appear to pick them up
Chaos: impale corpses on chaos shrines until the shrine is complete and it activates and you get points
Tyranids: TBA
Orcs: TBA
Necrons: TBA
>>
>>92738255
nope, all the novels are terribly written they are also not canon. If you don't get with the narrative soon you might get banned
>>
This feels like a pretty natural matchup, in the same vein as the CSM and Dark Angels squaring off in the previous box.
Bring out a new BA unit on one side, and the Weirdboy for the Orks.

>>
>>92738296
Yea 500 point crisis brick just wasnt worth it anymore.
Especially since Wraithguard/CSM bricks were gone and you were left dick in hand at nothing to shoot at since Necrons went wide with wraiths/ctan
>>
>>92738291
it's an idea too absurd to go anywhere without it being immediately recognised as a racist joke, and the only serious answer you could get for whining, in the most unbelievable turn of events where it would even be acknowledged and somehow accepted, would have been a discount offered to joggers in exchange of increasing the price for everyone else

if you want a real psyop try pipe bombing black library or gw and framing dissatisfaction for the squattings of certain models as the motive

The first two stories in "The Wicked and The Damned" are pretty good horror/crime stories in an EC comics kinda way but the last story is fucking great. The last story is just a great horror scifi that's made better if you know Warhammer lore because you realize the implications of what's happening.

Does anyone else feel completely checked out of 40k at this point?

It kind of feels like WoW for me. I used to get really mad at Blizzard with all of the dumb shit they did with the game. I would bitch and moan on the forums and comments on youtube videos of how they kept dumbing down everything, catering to meta fags, botching and making ridiculous retcons to the lore, until eventually over time the game was just a complete shadow of what it once was. Squeezing out every dime from the player. Censoring shit. Everything completely braindead to the point the game played itself unless you did mythic raiding. I used to get angry, but then I just stopped caring. People will point out how Warcraft used to be really cool and testosterone filled setting about war and now it's a furry fest about feelings. All the while you had the same types of people as you do here constantly telling people over and over that the game and setting isn't actually getting worse you're just idolizing a past that didn't exist, things are better now than ever, yatta yatta yatta. Same shit different asshole. But now no one can really make those arguments, especially when classic came out and proved the old game was actually better.

I've feel like I've gone through the same thing again with warhammer. I'd get angry, bitch and moan, but eventually you just get exhausted from that. People will always say "Lol, why do you care about a plastic space man game! It's LITERALLY TOYS for TODDLERS" or some other inane shit, willfully ignorant to the fact that a good product MAKES PEOPLE CARE. As a business you WANT people to care. Because the saying goes, anger doesn't kill a product, apathy does. If people are angry and bitching and moaning, that means people are invested in your product. Tell them to "lol why do you care" enough times and eventually they stop caring.

The lore is shit, 10th is disgustingly boring, and it's filled with spiteful culture warriors. If they don't care why should I?

They don't want to be told their wrong and they will pretend everything is fine and delude themselves until the very end. They'll say shit unironically like the game will never die.

That's their aesthetic, sure, but you can have your Guard army fight like a modern army. My old Guard army (before I lost it) was based off of the unit I was in when I was in the Army. Hardly ever won with it though because my unit was a cav scout troop, which means no real heavy weapons or tanks so I got stomped by anyone who brought any real armor or firepower to the tabletop.

> the fashion industry explicitly bullies you
> the car industry explicitly bullies you
Are you absolutely daft, cunt? Your examples are of industries that have been, for decades, convincing people — through flash, pomp, circumstance, etc — that they NEED their product. They don’t directly bully people, you stupid faggot. They discretely convince you to buy their product because if not “you won’t be as beautiful as you can be” or “you won’t have all the horsepower and flash to drive”. It’s about marketing jargon, subliminal messaging, and a societal pressure fomented through years and years of reinforcement learning. Please stop acting as if you have even a modicum of understanding how societal pressures act to influence an individual’s life. It certainly isn’t direct, overt bullying. If it were that blatant, the industry wouldn’t exist.

I have no idea what I'm going to do about points:
105 Farsight - 105
275 Sunforge Crisis - 170
385 Coldstar Commander - 110
515 Starscythe Crisis - 130
575 Darkstrider - 60
665 Pathfinder Team - 90
725 Stealth Team - 60
785 Stealth Team - 60
845 Stealth Team - 60

Is as far as I've gotten. I could run a cheap crisis team (to be 3 for 3 on homing beacons) or throw in some fire warriors (gives me some flexibility cause I'll have all the kinds of units for both Compendium and Pathfinder Killteams if I wanna play that). If I'm probably best putting in at least one devilfish. Planning on running Retaliation Cadre, so broadsides or ghostkeels are also good candidates.

I need to worry about enhancements too. Do people commonly play around 1250 points instead of 1000 at your locals? If I don't need to be shooting for a perfectly round number I can slide more in.

I find I have an easier time getting people to play 1.2k games vs 1k games because them marine piggies or other people who enjoy slop lists can at least bring their one stupid huge model. Most people are legit too scared to play 1k point games because they feel naked without a vehicle or something.

Also don't bother with the Compendium Tau team it sucks balls, there is literally no reason to ever run it over the bespoke Tau team. You COULD just buy the bespoke team though and run it in normal 40k games as Firewarriors or Pathfinders and no one will care, I really doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference aside from the turret drone.

Why do people keep saying GW is nuking FW shit because of some made up internal drama that there is 0 proof of vs the obvious answer: they want to phase out everything recasters sell because let's be honest fucking NOONE was buying FW shit legit and recast resin kits are basically impossible to tell apart from legit ones vs a resin recast of a plastic kit is much easier to tell apart and on top of that is awkward and a pain to assemble due to how the sprues are set up.

There's about a dozen reasons why they're phasing out FW resin and we'll never hear the exact reason. Could be liability reasons due to all the inherit risks of working with resin (aka, why OG Armorcast shut down and we got Forge World in the first place), could just be that the cost of refreshing the molds of models that people rarely buy isn't counterbalanced by the single grog who keeps buying the same Krieg squad over and over, etc. Would have zero reason to do with recasters, considering you can pretty much bootleg anything that GW has made in the past 25 years from Ivan or Cheng.

The only way somehow is going to know your plastic model is recast is if they come over to your model scratch the paint and varnish off and then try using plastic glue on the surface. Which no one is going to do.

If it's common and easy to to then the characters would not really mention it, having the characters talk about it is a hackneyed way of shorhorning it into the story. Imperial genetic manipulation can probably give you perfectly functional primary and secondary sex organs and alter your hormones and features to such an extent that you are indistinguishable from someone born whatever gender you want to be, so again, talking about it seems unnatural and forced.

Extrapolate it how? Anon said that they were interested in putting songs from Tyrone in 40K? I don't get why any writer would be interested in that, I don't even think there is any real Celtic influenced faction in the lore, except Eldar to a miniscule extent.

>Why do people keep saying GW is nuking FW shit
Because GW is blatantly and obviously separating both of these divisions.
HH is more resin than fucking plastic at this point, GW only made those new tactical marine kits in plastic because it is easier, cheaper and faster to make plastic sprues in bulk.
And rest of the shit is resin because they know it wont sell as much, resin is much cheaper the produce and use.

Also nevermind the dreadnought kits and shit.
GW specifically went out of their way to kill all levis, deredeos and contemptors in 40k, they are legends only.
They did same for all of the other FW resin shit.

GW doesn't want you buying 1 army that you'll then use for 2 or 3 systems.
No, they want you to buy a different army for every game/setting you play.

Because by its nature it wouldn't be bigoted against people who fall outside the norm. People have been beat to death in setting for being too pale and spooked people. A lot of worlds are all but feudal. Sexual permissiveness has existed in many cultures and there have been periods of regression where conservatism arises, and that coincides with more restrictive sexual culture. Before victorian england there was a shit ton of sexual deviancy going on. I could see trans stuff only being a thing in the context of decadent rich nobles, but couching it in modern speak like "transitioned" is immersion breaking. No, I don't think it should be in there at all, but as I already explained it's a commonly used term associated in the modern day with a specific political movement, and using a different term would make it less explicitly political. You can have stories where a man turns into a woman that aren't associated with modern day politics if framed the right way. But at the end of the day these people have retarded ideas that I don't want to see in the setting.

it's a modern word with modern connotations for modern morals

40k doesn't even have cigarettes, coffee or "fuck", it has lho sticks, recaff and frag
most imperial citizens are so poor that the idea of aesthetic surgery being accessible to them is retarded, let alone aesthetic surgery to treat mental illness, let alone aesthetic surgery for mental illness with welfare
and if it's something done by a wealthy upper class it shouldn't be thrown around casually like that or without being underlined as a creepy act of vanity like most modern aesthetic surgery already is, because warhammer should be satirical like that for anything concerning the terrible inequality in its citizens

Perhaps, but think about the weaponry - In game terms were used to character miniatures getting killed, and playing them again in other games. Back in the 2nd ed. days, a lot of people didn't like using characters for that reason, or created their own and played every game like a campaign - death was death. Most battlefield weapons in 40k would either rip someone apart or turn them to vapour, even with armour. It's still an arrogant taunt.

>How's the value of the set looking?
The points per dollar value sucks compared to many other armies, but that's just the state Tau's in right now. As far as combat patrols in general go (in terms of building an army, not actually playing combat patrol), it's excellent. Every unit is a staple of a typical Tau army. The only weak part is the pathfinder team, which can easily be resold on ebay with the killteam sprue for $40. Hell, the killteam sprue itself resales for more than the ethereal from the last combat patrol does.

>>92740030
You just walk in on the first Saturday of every month, ask for the free mini, then walk out after they hand it to you. Sometimes it's in a little tiny box, sometimes the redshirt was too lazy to box them and just hands you the sprue and a base.
>>
>>92740395
Thats fucking stupid. Why isn't their points limits on characters on shit these days, eg, "you can't spend more than 25% of your total points on characters" and "at least 50% of your points must be spent on troops selections"?

Why does everyone keep harping on this metric? If two sets cost $60 each it doesn't matter which one has more points of models. If anything the amount of plastic you get for that much money should be more of your concern. Character models are definitely more "points per dollar" but are definitely a rip off for what you pay for them.

To be fair GW is only doing this to clear out their inventory of unbought old as fuck Ctan models that no one bothered with before. Kind of like how they made Tetras good with Tau then rug pulled and discontinued them once they cleared out their stock.

One ruin in each board quarter. Some kind of large structure in the center to break up sightlines from deployment zones. That's pretty much the minimum as a rule. A couple crates, forests, craters, or barricades on the sides help spruce things up a bit more.

It could be said all authority extends from violence so he might be trying to sound deep. Also BT recruitment is nowhere near as… thorough? As other chapters. You don’t need to be clever, just be the meanest bastard to survive enough battles and show faith. Aren’t most of their recruits war orphans and random feudal worlder’s that they kidnap occasionally and straight up brainwash?

I think I found a plot hole.
The new lore that just dropped says that the effect of the Necron Pylons in the Pariah Nexus disrupts and shuts down Aeldari technology since its psychic in nature. It even ruins Spiritstones.

How come the Shadow in the Warp doesn't do this? I have never read about Shadow in the Warp disabling Aeldari technology. In fact, Aeldari waystones continue to work as intended even under the Shadow.

They work on different ways. The Necron pylons strengthen the barrier between the warp and Realspace, preventing any connections between them and sometimes forcibly separating being that exist in both at once (such as souls and bodies).
The shadow in the warp is essentially just warp static that drowns out any other signal because of thousands of subvocal chirps and calls being transmitted back and forth between synapse creatures and the rest of the hive.
Both disrupt psychic signals into the warp, but in different ways.

The Shadow in the Warp is just a mass of smaller tyranids screaming at each other. Psykers can't navigate it because there's too much interference between them and the astronomicon.

The Necron Pylons utilize a lower dimension to utterly smother the warp in a projected radius. I can't remember if it's from the Ghostwind or from another dimension, but yeah, that's what it does.

Do you not already play Dark Eldar? Because they are insanely good infiltrators, screeners, harassers, and deep strike secondary objective securers. You probably cannot win games without at least one or two units of them. They're not big damage dealers, but they're cheap as shit and expendable and are really good at what they do. Uniquely within the army even.

We have anti-life dimensions and multiple subspace backroom corridors and flaying hellscapes and the shadow realm and the ghoul star oubliettes and secret hidden carcosa and whatever the fuck else random writers have put in books with minimal oversight. Random question, but why was 6th Edition replaced with 7th Edition in just 2 years, even though GW released 19 Codexes and Supplements for 6th Edition in that time?
I was on my break from 40K at that time, so I haven't a clue on what happened between late 4th/early 5th and 9th.
Was it just really bad rules wise or something?

Short version: GW sued some people and lost, they rewrote the book on how they release units virtually overnight and rushed the next edition to ensure they had the maximum possible legal protections for their little blue spacemen.
>>
>>92741667
GW was kind of in "just changing shit for the sake of changing shit" panic mode around them. high level mismanagement, the late 4th / early 5th era saw the largest exodus of players ever (not a coincidence like 80% of all the other sci-fi and fantasy war games exploded in to existence around then), and a bunch of other BS.
