To be fair I think that said helmet makes for a decent love-child between a bretonnian great helmet and the tilean barbute, making it close to ideal for some Bretonnian Exile lord holding court amongst the Border Princes.

>>
>>92726521
Not much but enough that it could get you an extra shot in a game. To make blunderbuss squad comparable to fireglaive in combat you would need to buy them a shield which is another extra point per unit.
>>
>>92726489
>>general has goblin-tier statline
Anon he is a lot WORSE than a goblin. The empire general has a hero tier statline, the empire captain is a glorified unit champion.
>>
>>92726549
I mean i was most likely giving fireglaives shields anyway because for some ungodly reason they dont have full plate anymore unlike in 8th

>>
>>92726582
I think i might just try to playtest and make my own chorf arcane journal. Ill just start by changing up infernal guard and having them replace ironsworn.
>>
>>92726615
Drilled cav is cool. The actual stat block is meh for the points on both. Cannons also got heavily nerfed this edition. People aren't running deep units, even if they are you can only hit one per rank, they're worse into monsters, and monster mounted characters get to stack saves to the point the cannons stop mattering. Then on top of it Empire has some of the worst magic items out there, and no special rules.

I'm out of the loop, the last book I saw C7 publishing was Sea of Claws and I think they had announced Lustria as well? What did they publish since then?
>>
>>92726979
Lustria is out. The released Archives of the Empire 3, Ubersreik Adventures 3, and a Greenskin book called Tribes and Tribulations.
Next up are TWO Dwarf books (player and GM), TWO Elf books (player and GM), a Marienburg book, and a Rogue and Rangers focused book.
>>
>>92727002
>Greenskin book called Tribes and Tribulations.
I think I remember some vague teasing about that. Something about it having hobgoblin shit? Sounds kino to expand the kind of game you could have. Is it more about resources for parties to interact with O&Gs or something more like CotHR where you could have a Skaven campaign?
>>
>>92725878
this has nothing to do with inflation, they have more than 80% margin, they could eat it up if they didnt think it would keep selling at any price
>>
>>92725878
Inflation isn't the main driving force behind their price increases, that'd be production costs. Even if they mark up the minis to oblivion it's just true they have a tendency to make increasingly more complex and elaborate products, so it's natural they'll reflect that on the price. Even older products will suffer because they can use those greater profits to further invest into newer and more complicated minis they'll be able to charge even more for.

And it works, GW has been a highly profitable company over these last few years and that shouldn't change any time soon.
>>
>>92726577
The chorf player I know just runs a sorcerer-prophet and sometimes a daemonsmith if they're running artillery. Chorfs in general seem in a weird spot. Monster mounted characters, black orcs, and iron daemons seem like the best things they can do.
>>
>>92727023

the actual problem is that they dont have the capacity, if they could double the production of plastic they could slash prices by half and pay for the expansion in less than a year and still sell all of it, or not and just double profit of course
>>
>>92727415

Even if they could do that, they don't *want* to. They see themselves as a boutique luxury product company in the same category as Rolex and Ferrari, not mere game and toy makers, and they see high prices as part of their image because people assume expensive=quality.

They're delusional of course - luxury status brands are that because owning them signals that you have, you know, status and all owning Warhammer signals is that you're a nerd with poor impulse control - but they have a big enough captive audience that they can be as deluded as they want for the foreseeable future.

But FW fimir don't match the classic style, they're their own thing. I personally wouldn't mix them, but if you want FW styled fimir I suggest Norba or Battle yak.

If you just want big oldschool fimir, get them from Krakon Games. I'm going to run then with mixed sizes; shearls (ungors) and fimm (gors) are going to be human>orc size, fianna (bestigors) will be big fuckers. I see them as having a pretty shallow genepool so there's bound to be a bit of variety.
>>
>>92729052
You could use the skellies as GG or vice versa. Banner of Barrows and or Helm of Commandment and or Danse Macabre. Black Knights are a lot scarier hitting on 2+ instead of 4+.

Thinking about doing a tourney one of the days I'll be at a con this summer. How bad a time will I have in a tournament setting with Skaven?
>>
>>92732963
I personally think they're the worst army in TOW. Infantry and shooting isn't great this edition. Skaven has some of the better war machines, but your infantry is awful and your monsters and heavy chariots don't make up for it well. The two other armies that seem to struggle quite a bit are Empire and Dwarves
Both of those also have solid warmachines, but dwarves have some of the best infantry units in the game, and empire can just choose not to take any infantry. If it's a 5 round tourney maybe you can drop the first couple games and have fun in the back half but I wouldn't bother in a 3 rounds.
>>
I think my least favorite part of TOW is not the msu or monsters or whatever. I think it's how ridiculous movement is. Dwarves are the slowest army in the game and even they can do marching column + anvil of doom to move 18" up the board. Not to mention infantry squads popping steed of shadows and flying 24/36, or arcane urgency on drilled cav that can march 42" in one turn. There isn't really much time spent walking across the board.

Yeah. Even if I did want to buy direct from GW, (I'd rather not), they don't really have a large selection of mini's I'm interested in using.

I don't think the AoS skeleton warriors would look good in rank and file and I would prefer my dire wolves looking less like zombie wolves. Probably going to use Fenrisian wolves. Their Dire Bats are okay and the Black Knights are solid. Would 3rd party but no local game stores other than a GW. Fingers crossed they bring back the last lot of skeleton warriors that were replaced by the new AoS ones. Otherwise I might just use Grave Guard for them.

Also keeping my list to 1000pts helps cut cost and makes the project much more manageable.

Why are skaven so bad at being rats? I mean, look at this dude. If you enlarged him to human sized, he could rip you to shreds. Meanwhile, your average skaven is just skin and bones and can't stand up to even a basic goblin. And then there's the absolutely antisocial behavior they practice when rats are actually on the higher end of the empathy curve for animals.

Wasn't it Skavor who created them? I know it was canon back in WFRP 2nd Edition. Skavor was an ancestor god who was exiled for the sin of fleshcrafting. As revenge, he took some dwarf children and twisted them into rats. We know that at least Skavor exists as there are several profane artifacts he created that are referenced even as recently as Total Warhammer III.

Your average clanrat:

-Lives in a constant state of starvation.
-Is poorly led.
-Doesn't trust anyone around it, for good reason.
-Is poorly equipped.
-Lives in a constant state of nerve wreaking anxiety, for good reason.
-Has to contend with a very high metabolism which demands a stupidly high caloric intake.
-It is constantly exposed to Dharr, (their currency is made of warpstone, their jewelry incorporates warpstone, their high end weapons incorporate warpstone, their high end armour incorporates warpstone, the ammunition their high end range weapons use warpstone, all their artillery pieces use warpstone, their generators use warpstone, their wine has warpstone, their healing psalms have warpstone, they use warpstone as seasoning, etc).
-Lives in cramped, unsanitary conditions, on closed off spaces with poor ventilation.
-Is feed on a diet of refuse and recycled corpses.

Your averange stormvermin:

-Has to contend with all of the above but with the benefit of a marginally better quality, vaguely standardized equipment which is garbage by any other civilization's metrics save perhaps beastmen. Perhaps.

The fact they can be manhandled by a goblin is not surprising in the sightless, even a random child could probably punch one in the snout without concern.

They are getting rid of Resin from their mainline games because Resin fucks with some kind of britbong law, it has nothing to do with popularity.
>>
>>92737964
I'm speaking more generally.
A lot of more casual hobbyists will be drawn to it more and more as the quality and detail increase. Low detail stuff is still extremely useful, it's just not as appealing to low/mid level hobbyists.
>>
>>92738095
even today the quality is good enough, the main stopper is the postprocessing required for resin and the toxicity
>>
>>92738222
My main issue is every printed resin I've seen ends up incredibly brittle compared to cast resin.
>>
It's been 10 years since the End Times began.

nobody cared about sigmar's blood, but the stuff in it about the way sylvania was cut off was recognised as retarded
nagash was exciting because it promised a shake up of the status quo and rules with an edition inevitably coming after the campaign (and everyone recognised that 8th killed warhammer and wanted some fresh air), it had some very cool moments like the one with nagash and settra and there were some hopes about the next installments delivering on hype and expectations
but there were also shadows of things to come and scary rumours already circulating, by the time the second book was confirmed to be glottkin (which the doomsaying rumormonger mentioned first) people knew shit was going to hit the fan
the story in the book was also bullshit on all levels and killed any hype or hope for the narrative
it was wet fart after disappointing whimper after spiteful blows from then on, you could feel in every book the struggle of the writers trying to build something only to be dragged down by GW's deadlines, necessities to kill everything, focus on the releases and pave for what would have come next instead of delivering on the apocalypse warhammer deserved

How are there so many druchii when they live in a frozen hellscape, face constant incursions from the chaos wastes, and disastrously lose almost all of their large scale military engagements? Fast breeding. The vortex is mostly what suppresses fertility for non-Asrai elves. Because the druchii live further from the vortex, they replenish their numbers much more quickly. Your typical druchii soldier is basically a teenager in elf years for this reason. Considering that they may have only a fraction of the life-experience that an Asur warrior has (your typical high elf will have lived more than 5 times longer than his dark elf counterpart), they do pretty well.

Sony tried to force players to link their Steam accounts to Sony's terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad PlayStation Network in order to play multiplayer.
This is very different than a company paying some random tranny on social media to drink their shit beer or include some statement of a female in a once-all male organization like Custodes. None of those directly affects you.
The Hellfivers one meant you couldn't use the game if you didn't link to their bullshit.
>>
>>92740421
It also made it unavailable period to countries where psn is not available, wich are, a lot.
They also advertised the game with that requirement from the start but was disabled because 'server problems', yet they still sold the game in the countries it couldn't work were there no issues. Steam is honoring refunds on those countries at least, with any amount of hours played. Fuck sony.

>when they live in a frozen hellscape
They have industrial scale farming in warmer climates, and outside of the shades do not actually live in the cold wilderness.

>face constant incursions from the chaos wastes
The most meaningful chaos incursion into naggaroth was defeated at the first line of resistance, with the garrison then being punished because they didnt do it fast enough. The dark elves have their northern border on pretty strict lock, so while they face chaos invasions those invasions are simply defeated and driven off, and the norse avoid their waters for the most part because the dark elves have the first or close second navy in the setting (alongside the high elves, whos waters the norse also generally avoid for similar reasons).

>and disastrously lose almost all of their large scale military engagements?
The last time they fought the high elves they overran and occupied essentially all of ulthuan with the exceptions of caledor, the tower of hoeth and lothern itself, they were also winning at finuval plain, their retreat being down to morale rather than the situation "on the ground". Their naval raids are also overwhelmingly successful, and are also essentially the only other military ventures they undertake as an isolated naval power.

>Not to mention that since their whole population is conscripted
It isnt, youre thinking of the high elves (who have the levy system where every citizen is expected to pull double duty and fight when needed). The dark elves have conscription (for a part of their army), but its not every dark elf.

It is every dark elf. It's why they need so much slave labor. It's very similar to the ancient Sparta and the Helots.
>>
>>92741119
>It is every dark elf.
It isnt.

>It's why they need so much slave labor
They need slave labor because their culture doesent put value on menial labor/because they have industrial mining/agriculture projects and because in the early days a LOT of construction work needed to be done. Also service industry stuff.

So what's nurgle like in fantasy battle? I'm gonna assume demons are dead for tow for a hot minute.
>>
>>92741154
In TOW? awful. The mark of nurgle is a downgrade on most units, sacrificing a subpar (worse than veteran) but useful utility buff for literally negligible combat results, also the worst forsaken (one of the three good WOC units).

MoN is however very good on a lord with the bedazzling helm.

Dark elves are based heavily off of Sparta and Spartans were up there as one of the more evil ancient civilizations, even by the standards of the time. Certainly the worst of the Greco-Roman civilizations.

A clanrat is S3/T3/1W, stormvermin are also S3/T3/1W, which is the same as a goblin. The best skavendom has to offer is about even with a basic goblin. Put a goblin fanatic and on an one on one, the clanrat and the stormvermin fare worse because fanatics have S5 and double the Ld.

No, better looking elves, their aesthetic makes them look more like chaos elves or elven vampires than their own culture of elves
you can't have nuance about the rights of governance when your side looks like the propagandistic stereotype your enemy would depict you as

either drop the overly literal edge or drop the facade of not being chaos elves

What base size would a GUO go on? Want to magnetize the one I use for 40k to just base swap.
>>
>>92741617
I know for a fact that most writers and most fans run with their non-chaotic characterisation that they had since 6th edition, where chaos was either a secret cult within their society or just a tool they used

if you run your dark elves as unapologetic chaos elves then you have my respect more than someone who keeps their edgy look AND the claim of being in the right and chaos-free
that's dumb, they should choose too

I guess they were social Darwinists, they were roundly marginalised and beaten by the better society. Just like Nazis they were crushed by more capable societies.

Now back to fantasy dudes, I'm interested to hear how people are handling fanatics? Just shooting their parent unit off the board/hoping for that big win charge to wipe them out?
