Finished watching it a few monthes ago. Overall really enjoyed it, but I felt the first season was WAY stronger than the second.The first season is perfect. Incredibly strong opener, fantastic pacing, great sense of escalation, and the emotions and struggles and relationships of the characters feel genuinely intense. The second season isn't bad, and I definitely enjoyed it, but it just feels like it sorta loses the magic a bit. The pacing isn't as good with some arcs feeling dragged out (the Gou / Anna separation arc) while other stuff gets rushed, the emotional/relationship stuff feels like it devolves into more typical romcom/soap-opera cliches after the genuine pathos of the first season, and the climax is only moderately satisfying (after a lot of buildup with the worlds situation seemingly becoming more dire, the final boss just kinda comes out of nowhere and ultimately feels like a more deadly skirmish). I did like the ending, but a few characters feel like they're wasted. For example Mira has one of the most interesting plights in the show but rarely gets any POV stuff and ends up being a background source of friction for Gou and Anna (though I liked her big moment in the climax of the show, but it was a bit late), or Lou Roux who has probably the best episode of the first season but they kinda just...forgot to finish her story (she doesn't really DO anything in the climax besides be a sword, and it's odd how it feels like everything that happens to her and Ken is building up to "don't lose yourself to hatred" but then the epilogue reveals she's basically been doing the same thing for nearly a decade and is only now reconsidering).Second season still had some fantastic moments and I enjoyed it overall. But the show kinda ended up being an 8/10 for me when it could've easily been a 10/10 and one of my top 5 anime ever if it'd just kept the energy from the first season up.Also not getting a SINGLE ass-shot of grown up Lou Roux was a CRIME.

(1v2 fights are always really awkward in fighting games.) I could imagine being very disappointed if I paid full price for it back in the day. But nowadays when you can download it for free it's just a treat. The gameplay is surprisingly sound and well designed; every character has Gill's Resurrection super from Third Strike, but you can steal meter by throwing, which leads to a kind of interesting cat-and-mouse dynamic. I don't think we'll be seeing it on the main stage at EVO anytime soon, but for casual fun you can do way, way worse.I think the difficulty is in a good spot. I play a lot of fighting games so I went for hard, and I got what I asked for. The final boss in particular is just disgusting. It never quite reached "fuck this game I hate it forever now" levels but it got close. If you aren't big into fighting games I'd recommend starting on normal. (There are some special unlocks for beating hard mode.)The game has plenty of special treats for fans; there's a nice amount of new Kimura art throughout and a few small new story tidbits. The big draw of the game is the (semi?)-famous alternative ending, which you can see in the spoilered image if you aren't planning on playing. (Looks like Gou has a long night ahead of him!)I was also impressed by how much stuff from the show made it in. They don't have absolutely everyone (sadly) but there are some hilarious surprising inclusions like the guy in the school mini robot who thinks if he beats Anna in a battle she'll go on a date with him.
