>>23356147Everything wrong with psychology can be traced back to him and the rejection of Jung, and I say this as someone who recognizes the ways Jung influenced new age woo-woo’ism and its consequences.
Lmao no, Freud has been bootyblasted and Jung has been vindicated. See pic related>>23357065True but new-ageism is wrong because of it's buffet style attitude to spirituality which Jung was against
>>23356147When wrong prevails, what avails being right about anything?
>>23357430they're both irrelevant, peterson fan-boy
>>23358014great argument
>>23357430bullshit, Jung is the witch doctor people usually accuse Freud of being. Jungs psychology is just perfect to package and shill as pseudo-meaning, because any symbolism can be infinitely expanded at a whim.Freud actually created a sensible model of the psyche that takes biology into account, and he's being vindicated right now as we understand the brain better. Jung is where people who can't deal with the disenchantment run to.

>>23359706The Introductory Lectures, and The New Introductory Lectures-- pretty much covers everything, and is really not all that long when you consider what you get, a break-down of his entire career. The first volume concerns most everything that's discussed here, the much shorter second volume concerns updated, final Freud-- the introduction of the libido and the death drive, as instances. An alternative route would be to begin with The Interpretation of Dreams, which is a fun, very entertaining book to read.
>>23358215Oh yeah where can I read about all the sex they had?
>>23356147his psychoanalytical theory and anthropology is interesting bu his cultural commentary is fucking awful. Civilization and its discontents is terrible
Psychoanalysis is very mysterious. Its correct and incorrect in specific ways in which it makes it hard to write it all off.
>>23356147>You secretly want your mom to suck your penis lol>That will be thousands of dollars plus tip
>>23357430Jung is just easy to appropriate; he validates a lot of the presuppositions of new age thought while not tying it to any particular dogma and giving it a veneer of psychological intellectualism.
>>23357065>implyig that Jung didn't inspire Totem & Taboo, about which on his death bed Freud said that it was his most beloved bookStop contradicting yourself, chud
>>23359706Five Essays on Psychoanalysis and then The Ego and the Id. There's lots more but those are good starting points to give you the main arc of his theoretical development.
