>Russian T-80BV tank hit by FGM-148 JavelinI may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening?because it clearly doesn't do shit
>>61547643thats an abrahams that got hit by a lancet you ukroshill
>>61547643Is simply blow out cage. You can see it drive to cover after.
another one from today.same result.
>>61547643>>61547660what's their fireproofing policy?
>>61547643These were the experimental crates to prevent the prisoner crew from escaping, a true cope cages are mounted on thousands of Armatas of the 1st Tank army right now and you won't like the result.
More Javelins sent into Ukraine?Feels like it's been a while since we last had proper ATGMs chewing through Russian armor.
it's actually a grill xaxaxa
>>61547660Oh, I finally understand what the cope cages are for now. They're not for protecting from munitions, but for on the off chance the vehicle doesn't toss its turret, you can use the cage and resulting ammo fire to grillIt all makes sense now
>>61547704Only feels like a while because you haven't been seeing them used in drones videos because the whole idea behind the drone videos is the drones being used.
>>61547643I have a morbid need to see the inside POV of a cookoff like this.
>>61547643>I may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening?yeah, you're wrong. the cope cages are to prevent drone grenades as has been pointed out a million times over the last two years
>>61547643You can see a small object falling onto the tank right at the start of the video, I don't think this was a Javelin hit
>>61547643>because it clearly doesn't do shitThat's why they are called "cope" cages, dummy
>>61547857same, anon
>>61547879>yeah, you're wrong. the cope cages are to prevent drone grenadesand what's preventing the drone to go under the cage?
>>61547651No it's Ukrainian POWs getting hit by ICBM
>>61547879They started mounting cope cages before the invasion, retard.
>>61548110cope harder Ivan
>>61547643Hol up. This might be a grenade drop? Right at the start, something seems to fall just to the right of the turret onto the front side of the tank. And then, right after cook off and the tanks starts moving, you can see a drone flying behind the tank. No other reason I could see for the drone to be right there except for a nade drop
>>61548077No it's a kindergarten being hit by a Boris Johnson.
>>61547643the entire reason why it's called a COPE cage is that it provides ineffective protection against Javelins, if it was effective it would be called "armour">>61547704>>61547768the reason why drone munitions are being used is lack of ATGMsdrones are essentially shittier ATGMs
>>61547643>I may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening?it never worked against javelins because you would need about 6x charge diameter to reduce penetrating power of a javelin to below 1.5in of steelactual anti-javelin roof defense looks less like a cage and more like a sunshade, a solid sheet of NERAthey only really protect against drone-dropped grenades
>>61547643They were called cope cages when they first appeared because mobiks were using them in the early days of the war when Ukrainians were spamming Javelin and NLAWs at Russian tanks.Cope cages could be good at stopping drone dropped munitions but not a tandem warhead.
>>61547643They were called cope cages because they didn't have a hope of stopping a Javelin. That was before the drone spam.
>>61547643Aren't the cages for drone dropped grenades? I don't think they were expected to do much against missiles.

>>61547655I don't think it "drove to cover". It looks like the driver moved it forward but then either bailed or died because it slammed into that building at speed.
>>61547857Just zoom in on the fire and there you have it
>>61547643>JavelinThat's a name I haven't heard of for a long time. Where are the Javelins that anal raped zigger at the start of the war we heard so much about?
>>61547643>Screw you guys, I'm going home
>>61547643>reversing doesn't start until right after the hit>turret moves after 5 seconds of intense flamethey were alive in there, for a little bit anyway . imagine it
>>61549180>Where are the Javelins that anal raped zigger at the start of the war we heard so much about? They'll receive 10,000 more...
>>61547643Why does it look it spits fire from its turkey like a dragon? Not a specialist btw
>>61547643I like how you can easily identify russian tanks. They look like someone stacked garbage on it. Some kind of smekalka gypsies that collect garbage for their hovel.

>>61547643>I may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening?it's quite literally moral support"stop bitching about the drones pidor, it has the cope cage to stop them, see? now get in the fucking tank or you'll be sent to the chechens"
>>61549407add-on armor is usually banned in the field, due to fears of overloading the suspension or potentially weakening the armor welds but these are ignored by company commanders who feel like the loss in mobility is made up for by higher crew moralegermans banned any and all use of concrete armor or tracklinks on their tanks in WW2, but photos of stugs with cement armor still exist
>>61547643why tf did it start moving? was there somebody inside?
>>61549407>it's quite literally moral support"stop bitching about the drones pidor, it has the cope cage to stop them, see? now get in the fucking tank or you'll be sent to the chechens"The Chechen will at least give him a kiss before he gets fucked.
>>61547660Where's the full length? I want to watch each individual shell cooking off.
>>61549417Don't worry, they weren't people.
>>61549423Jesus Christ, the dude should've stayed inside.
>>61547643That's not javelin, it was a grenade drop inside the tank from a drone
>>61549116I don't think anyone died from running into a wall at 10 mph unless the inside of the tank is lined with spikes
>>61549152Or you can watch the windows of Space Shuttle re-entry cockpit footage.
>>61549423They are not supposed to survive. If the tank is hit and destroyed then the scum deserves to die because they are responsible for it and do not deserve to live.

>>61547660Makes me wonder if burning flesh smells appetising.
>>61548320it is used against drone dropped grenades, rpgs, and suicide drones. it is extremely effective at that.
>>61550305I’ve been told its one of the worst things you can smell
>>61550305You ever burnt insects with magnifying glass as a kid? Smells kinda like that.
>>61550357That's burned hair.We all already know what burning flesh smells like, it smells like barbeque.
>>61547643interesting that you can see flame coming from underneath the tank as wellI wonder if they are cutting holes in the floor around the carosel now as an ad hoc blow out panel I imagine these guys are all riding around with all hatches open these days to try and get that effect
>>61547857Unable to search now but I recall seeing test footage of a tank interior and they were showing off what the difference was between having the blow out panels vs not
>>61547643>>61547881>>61550381It looks like a drone strike, there's definitely a drone overhead that drops a second explosive, right as the tank starts moving away, and when I go frame-by-frame the fireball looks to originate from an open hatch, and not the outside.
>>61550305Burning flesh smells mighty neat
>>61547643The Jav has a fuckhuge tandem HEAT warhead with >760mm RHA penetration, the top of a T-80 turret isn't even a tenth of that thick, the results are entirely predictable even if we're gonna be very generous and assume that the cage halves the penetration of any given warhead (it doesn't).
>>61550381>interesting that you can see flame coming from underneath the tank as wellIt's likely the Javelin penetrated both the top and the bottom of the tank, they're less than 50mm thick combined and big HEAT warheads have a jet that maintains cohesion across pretty impressive distances.
>>61547643Let them cook
>>61549752probably died from the fire you fucking retard.
>>61547660these turret decorations are there for aesthetic reasons not protection
>>61547668fireproof?
>>61547660makes me want to visit Burger King
>>61550329You understand there isn't a lack of suicide drone footage destroying cope cage tanks because the drones are guided below the cage correct? And let's ignore the complete lack of standardization in the cages.
>61548120>61550329Completely incoherent response. Cope cages were Russians attempting to recreate statistical armor assuming that top attack munitions used the same shitty sodium triggers as Russian atgms.
>>61554447>The fucking irony of posting this pic

>>61549180We got some footage of them at Avdiivka over the winter.
>61554447(you)
>>61554447here's your context shill
>>61554792…now I want to know the context of this video
>>61555034dunno, some russian propaganda shit or something but it's not real so who cares.
>>61547643there's a lot going on in that clipafter it lumbers off, did you see the explosion in its place? I wonder if that was another Jav that lost lock due to the brew up and just smacked the spot it was aimed at. also, wtf is up with the flames coming out the bottom? did it blow out the escape hatch?
>>61550329No it doesn't.Okay how things like javelins work is you have a penetrator. It's some random metal usually copper it punctures the tank armor with little jets after a shock wave And heat push it. Then the explosive follows and it goes into those punctures and melts the metal and shoots molten hot pieces of the armor and fire into the tank right. So you drop a grenade size explosive on a tank it's going to be damaged but the armor will hold. But if you drop a grenade sized explosive on russian cope cage which is made out of steel, it's going propel the cage pieces into tank, and the explosion will follow it in.The cage actually makes the Russian tanks easier to blow up. Israelis use special metals and ceramics that wont easily turn into molten steel jets on their cages so they work It's amazing! Yay
it's just a scratch
>>61550305Only once the hair burns offIt's horrible initially because of that and burnt clothing, and then it starts to smell of pork.
>>61554792kek
>>61554447>Why is there never any infantry or any other vehicles around ?Why there should be?
>>61547643cope cages are for drone dropped grenades, which is why ukies switched to drone mounted RPGs I figure
>>61547643Holy shit, that fucking flame jet!I'm gonna coom
>>61548222Javelin has top attack mode, they could just be using the drone for kill confirm

>>61547643>>61547660Poor Russians lol, if only their military/government cared about their suffering.
>>61550305Burnt plastic, hair, and pork. It's a lot worse than you can describe it.
>>61547643It's called cope for a reason
all russian tanks deserve to be blown up
>>61563750we're off to a good start
>>61547879is this going to be one of those “watch a fact getting warped in real time” things? cope cages were there in the beginning when Ukraine had nothing but Javelins. they were an ATTEMPT at mitigating against Javelins. it is pure coincidence that they were found to be somewhat effective (varies) against drones later when the frontline calcified and drone usage spiked up.
>>61549423What is this T-90? Or some new T-72?
>>61550329Those cages wouldn't do shit against HEAT warheads given the thin roof armor of MBTs. The only thing they would protect against is standard HE which isn't particularly commonly used on tanks with drones (other than dropping HE into open hatches on abandoned tanks)
>>61547660damn
>>61550305it dependsim sure that in the case of a cookoff it smells terrible but in some cases its not that bad>work in OR>diathermy is the standard for dissection>so basically just running electricity through an electrode to cut and coagulate>long days starting early>dont eat breakfast>smell that sizzling smell of cooked meat>get hungryits an aquired taste I guess
Why is a video showing a grenade being dropped inside a tank being called a Javelin hit? Better just be some weird /k/ troll and not a deliberate effort by Ukies to explain to DoD investigators where all the Javelins went…I assume the former because the nade was too obvious…
>>61569923Mmmm, long pork....
>>61547643>I may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening?I believe that was the point originally, but it was a bad idea from the get go. Now it's used against drones, which is rather effective, if you're lucky.
>>61565429Good thing there wasn't a massive number of videos published by ISIS of them dropping HE and anti-tank grenades on all sorts of vehicles in the sandbox, and drones dropping stuff was a tactic invented in Ukraine. You'd sure look silly if the cope cages were made as a response to the threat that Russia dealt with in Syria and expected to face in a low intensity insurgency after they rolled into Ukraine in a 3 day victory. Even now, they're of marginal use against dropped grenades, as you note, since Russian tanks have shit optics and as such the commander is likely to ride around unbuttoned to actually see what's going on, while the cost is merely man hours, which the Russians sure have in spades given how many bodies they waste on the regular, and a bit of scrap steel.
>>61554447>that could be anywhere in Ukrainethat is in Ukraine r u mental?>even better EuropePussia is attacking Europe now? WTF
>>61550305I got a wart burned off once. Looked like a soldering iron. Smelled like pork. Getting my bone sawed through was worse. That was a stink I could have done without. They wanted to put me under, I said "neyt!". My jokes during surgery went largely unappreciated.

>>61549087You see Ivan, when designings tanks, avoid western ideas like "blowout panels" to incentivize tank crew to not blowings up in first place.

>>61547643Do the cages do anything?
>>61577798give a false sense of security
>>61547643First that explosion of hot liquid copper and then all those shells cooking off, I wonder what that felt like.
>>61550305Roasted pork smells amazing mmmmmhhhh))))))))
>>61547643Cope cages are meant to stop drones, Israel uses them too. Are you retarded by any chance?
Cages meant to protect from grenades being dropped by drones. It was a trick Russia learned in Syria.
>>61547643>>61547660Stop putting all this shit on your turrets, the France Olympics are soon and you guys are throwing the turret toss competition with this shit
>>61555197I'm sure this is bait but on the off chance it isn't, Anon, that's straight up just not true. Explosive plus metal doesn't make an EFP through the process of fucking alchemy; HEAT rounds use directional explosive force to compress metal into the center of the blast and they HAVE to use a ductile metal (pure copper), not just any material. A drone grenade in a cope cage is just going to throw frag around, that's it, none of this magical thinking.
>>61547857Everything gets charred, I'm looking for image/video of some tuvan t-72 tankman who survived a carousel malfunction which cooked off his tank and he survived and met putin.
>>61547643Oof, that acceleration and turret turn, no one inside is having a good time.>I may be wrong but wasn't the point of those cope cages to stop that from happening? No, it started as bar armour that works well against RPG warheads either fired from an RPG or strapped to a drone. There was 2 or 3 loud retards here claiming it was for top attack missiles.

>>61550305my father told me it smells pretty bad
