I wish I was at touhou fest 2024
>>46691670me too, but if it makes you feel any better it's probably full of tourists and normalfags
>>46691734what exactly to you is a norm/tourist when it comes to touhou
Seeing TAMusic live would have been bitching but beyond that I don't know what I'd do beyond just meander the hall.
>>46692114A norm is someone who just hanging out for the memes, I doubt they'd wast money going to a con to be honest. And a tourist is someone who thinks they can current-thing all over whatever they want, although they could have been true fans that've put their joy for the hobby aside for the jealous god that is politics.
>>46692114people who are new to the franchise and are very annoying about it, moralfags, miko trans faggots, leftist puritans who object to leading the touhou girls because it's "weird" or whatever etc
>>46692344>leftist puritans who object to leading the touhou girlswhat does that even mean
>>46692344I think these people are imaginary and just live in your headA mentality like this is why you have no friends
>>46692387>A mentality like this is why you have no friendsI have a close group of friends irl that I like hanging out with, one of which is a leftist. I do not care, I just find some people of the people in the fandom annoying, and you do too, no doubt.
>>46692387No one who talks like this isn't one of those people. I know because I know several IRL.They can't see why what they're doing is wrong, and cope by finding subtle fault in accurate descriptions of their annoying behavior and then using that to justify believing the description is completely wrong. No exaggeration or reduction is too minor. For example, I'm going to go ahead and call you a trite, condescending, easily-offended twitterite. If you spend less than 2 hours a day on twitter, you'll say you aren't a twitterite, and therefore I just lied, therefore everything I just said is false. Having said something false in order to criticize leftists, and having been so wordy in doing so, I must therefore be an anrgy autistic incel chud, worthy of having my hobby invaded and destroyed by politically zombified neophytes. These people definitely exist, but thankfully they only care about currently airing anime available on crunchyroll, unless a new Avengers movie just came out. You probably think I'm speaking in chariatures but that's because you aren't friends with several of them, because it's YOU who is the shut-in.
>>46692387>I think these people are imaginary and just live in your headEither you're gaslighting or baiting.
I kinda wish I coulda went for the weekend...
>>46692114Not the original Anon but someone who hasn't played the games at all and calls themself a Touhou fan and probably collects only Fumos
>>46691670This’ll be my second time going. I’ll make sure to have fun for you Anons.
>>46691670I also love the smell of homemade bathtub estrogen
>>46692344>le zoomers are BAD because they enjoy something and don't goon their clitties to based and trad trans MAP pride loli porn holy fuck I can't wait for your kind to ACK or die from old age already. Being into a video game for 30 years is not something to brag about.
>>46695931but i am 20
>>46695931Nice strawman, nigger. You don't have to be a porn addict (these are annoying too) to be le true 2hu fan. But lockdown tourists who spam trains rights and cry about muh minor sexualization can go hang themselves. Same as supposed oldfags who piss and shit their pants every time they see loli stuff.
there's a creepy incel forum user there who takes stealth pics of people who he thinks are "dysgenic"
>>46691670Its gonna be filled to the brim with trannies and zoomers who only discovered touhou around 2020-2021 from srpelo's animation.
>>46695931the amount of foreign buzzwords proves that kids like you are undesirable part of touhou fandom
>>46692344>leftist puritans who object to leading the touhou girls because it's "weird" or whatever etcI agree with the other anon, I have absoutely zero idea what the hell this means.
>>46696554NTA, but this guy >>46696535 is a prime example
>>46696559Can you explain which part of the post objects to "leading", and what the fuck that means??
>>46696411>look guys i called someone a nigger im one of you!!! totally not a reddit cumbrain who never touched the games>loli porn is actually based and tradhou trutaku culture even tho the only people who goon to it are 3rd world shitskins, porn addicted troons and people who were raped as kids.>YOU ARE the obssesed one even doe i will hang myself cuz a country bans MAPpride moeblob >trannies totally don't goon to it because I SAID SO OKAY!!?!?!>>46696554my guess is, that he is a Cookike shipfag who is mad that zoomlets aren't making gay, self-insert, autogynephiliac shipping fanfictions anymore
>>46696576who are you quoting, nigger?
>>46696576Nice job outing yourself as a tourist with those "quotes". Go back.
>>46692387>I think these people are imaginary and just live in your headI'm obviously not the poster you were replying to, but I've personally been in an online community where it was a bannable offence to claim that Miko is NOT trans because "it upsets the local transfolks".Hilariously enough it was a community focused on 2hu porn and erotic RP.
>>46696608>>46696598oy, samefag. I think you should go back to xitter or reddit. Those sites provide a wholesoom, scientifically backed safespace for your kind. i.e. porn addicted degenerates who can't 1cc because their filthy, brown, atrophied hands are to busy owning transphobic Zionist bigoted antis and chuds on xitter
It honestly wasnt even bad.It seems like all of the "everyone in gensokyo is gay" and "miko/yuyuko are trans" crowd began appearing around late/early 2019, and it went overdrive during the pandemic.
>>46696535>Eiki is trans.Where the fuck does that even come from?
>>46696624>it was a bannable offence to claim that Miko is NOT transThis has to be bait, there's no fucking way. Surely you've oversimplifying (or straight up lying). No I'm not baiting for a link to the porn, don't send me one.
>>46696655She was born from a Jizou statue that came to life, which are shown to still be male in Gensokyou.
>>46696691AFAIK Jizou statues are androgynous and aren't supposed to represent any particular gender.
>>46696624>touhou porndeserved desu
>>46691670I don't want to go to california, so i will never go thore
>>46692387touhoufest always was the con with the most trannies by FAR, keep lying.>>46695931kill yourself out of /jp/ tourist

>>46696418>srpelo's animation.who
>>46696658I understand there'd been an argument about Miko's supposed gender at some time in the past that an aforesaid local member of the community threatened the KYS over, so mods just nipped potential repeats in the bud. That said, I haven't been to the place in years, so I couldn't give you a link if I wanted.
deserving thread quality for /jp/
any anons at touhoufest rn
only normalfaggots go to conventions
>>46696411>trains rightsYukari get out of the fucking PC you worthless hag.
All this seething about "muh zoomers" makes me fucking laugh, all the TH fans that I know of are zoomers that are pretty much indistinguishable from the "good" TH fans. The jews fucking won I swear, divide and conquer always works.
>>46695043use that gun to shoot yourself in the head
>>46692387If you can't see them that means you're probably one of them;
>>46696414So he's going take a picture of everyone at the con? >>46698388I was. There were a lot more Okuu cosplayers than I was expecting. No Nazrins that I could see.
>>46698618are you going tomorrow too?would you post any pics
It's a small venue but yet somehow decent sized for the amount of people here
>>>/cgl/
>>46698618really? I saw like 3 or 4 nazrins around
I'm here, it's been fun but that's probably because I kept my standards low and it's my first time ever going to a con
>>46699772>first con is a touhou conwell that's pretty cool
Imagine if /jp/ anons go to the con and meet up and become friends with each other lolThat would be so hilarious
>>46699836That was supposed to be my plan for this year's but I couldn't go :(we were supposed to hang out, drink frozen coca cola and play touhou fumo racing
>>46699838I'm the anon who you promised to play touhou fumo with last year, you lied to me :(
>>46699848I don't believe you
Wanted to go super bad this year and almost made it but CA was too far for me this year Whatever anons are there, have fun in honor of us who couldnt go
>>46699836We should all raid 2hufest next year
>>46699855The best I can do is posting the archive from our conversation I was looking forward to it
>>46699654Then I might genuinely be blind then. I love Nazrin too :(
>>46699890oh shid it is you.well did you go at least
>>46699929I did>>46699772It's fun, I expect you next year
>>46699950any pics?
>>46699958Best I've got is the cosplayers I liked holding a satori I bought during the event, hopefully the photo doesn't post fucked
>>46699965seems heavily dressed, was it hot at all?
>>46699965
>>46699967It was sunny out but pretty windy, probably sun burnt a bit because the event had pretty little shade in a lot of places
>>46699965>>46699969Rotate it in photos. 4chan strips exif data.
one of the merchants was a girl sitting next to this cutout and replicated it pretty well with her cosplay. she was hot but I didn't have the courage to take a pic
>>46699920I can try finding some pics. I forgot to ask the nazrins, but I'm sure I might know some people who did get pics
I went there today and I'm going again tomorrow. If you go next year, please make sure to take a full shower with soap and shampoo every morning because one of the people I sat next to at the outdoor theater had really bad body odor.
also, I wish my wife had more presence. there was barely any Kasen stuff. still, my buddy and I had a good time for our first con. makes me wanna learn Japanese so I can go to the REAL events.
>>46700010that whole area smelled like BO all day, despite the rest of the event smelling pretty clean. was it just one really smelly guy?also, there were some really good cosplays there. wish I got a pic of the Yuuma girl; she was cute
>>46700020what kinda stuff was for sale?
>>46700010Also, here's a picture I took at a vendor as proof that I was there today.
>>46700028mostly little knickknacks like keychains and stickers and posters. there were some fangames, some music groups, and some t-shirt sellers, too. I wanted to get my hands on the touhou-themed playing cards and tarot cards, but the line was long and they were sold out when I got there.
>>466986184u anon
>>46700040There were some fumos too.
There's an Aya girl with a trumpet here. She's pretty good
>>46691670I wish I was at niconico chokaigi 2024...
>>46700216I also wish you weren't there wishing you were
>>46700180Nice to have an Aya while waiting in line
it's still going on? what are they doing now?
Shoutouts to Aya trumpet girl
>>46700289She was pretty cool.
I have to say, its shocking to see how many female cosplayers there are according to the anons who went there. I thought that the event would be filled with troons. Or maybe it is but the anons there didnt notice.
>>46700464If it's anything to note on, there were actual on the line crossdressers present and not just hormone injected specimens
>>46700510>>46700516You do know that thread over there is basically dead right? Why are you upset at discussion here anon? It is related right?
>>46700464there were a fair amount of transgenders but I tuned them out. the actual women were pretty cute, but maybe I am biased for being a sucker for cosplay. couldn't muster the courage to photograph any of them sadly
>>46700122Thank you anon :3
Now what, I say now what in sam hill is happening here?
I'd like to go to a Touhou convention one day but I can't seem to find any where I'm moving to next year
>>46700549Looking pretty pathetic
Touhou Fest 2025 is the one, we'll all play touhou fumo racing - hopefully the online update will be out by then.
Next touhoufest will be June 13th to the 15th
>>46700782afaik, there is only one - this one.
>>46700993There's the one in Japan.
>>46700993I've heard there are a few in China and Taiwan but I might be misremembering. Hopefully there's one in Hong Kong as well.
>>46701044I thought you meant so far as ""official"" in the US
Is Punderfullll single? Asking for a friend
>>46701407C’mon Anon, be realistic here. You probably couldn’t get with a single one of the cosplay girls, and you’re probably better off for it lmao. No normal girl is into Touhou.
>>46701407I always assume that cosplayers are dating their photographers. You can always ask her yourself.
>>46701407would kissu
>>46701407
>>46698463Nigger
>no okuu merchthis con sucks
>>46695043Can I ask if this is a normal design of the magazine or is it damaged?>>46704264Really, he insulted you so randomly, lol.
>>46695043A Marck 23, impeccable taste.
>>46701407How big is Nazucos's dick? Asking for a friend too
>>46704846I can only imagine this person prematurely aging
>>46704636Thats a extended pro mag, with the bullets fed backwards as an inside joke.>>46704658Mk23, salad snacks gun
>>46701407Let's be honest here, you have 0 chance if they are taking pictures of themself for people online as a woman who is mildly attractive and are cosplaying as a character for a community that is Predominately Male even if she is Single
>>46705664Not with that attitude!
>>46703514Hey Anon...the statement "no normal girl is into Touhou" seems to contain the implication that the men who are into Touhou are normal. Surely you are aware that this simply isn't true..? Surel you understand that no normal man is into Touhou?
>>46705816See, anon, you can be autists together!
>>46692382I think he got lewding autocorrected.
>>46704954>programming in Cbasado
was a fun time
>>46706238If this is you in pic related I loved your cosplay and was cool meeting you
>>46705816Every man from fag to friend at this con is more normal than the screeching autistic aya cosplayer
>>46706878Literally who?
>>46707057The aya girl who went on stage to follow up the awesome violin preformance and proceeded to karaoke and incredibly shitty English version of Tasukete Eirin
>>46707348I thought it was sovl imo
>>46707348Got a link to that? Sounds autistic as shit.
>>46706646yup see you guys at fall retaisai and comiket
>>46707348kino
>>46706878>>46707348lol, I actually really like that girl. Her energy IS autistic as fuck but I dig it.
>>467048469cm
>>46707583>>46707540>>46707459>>46707358Niggers.
>>46707583I dig her style. She's small but her presence was big if that makes any sense. I also chuckled at the stupid little "Ayaya!" she did
>>46707583>>46708059I like her trumpet playing but I got a bit worried a few times during Tam's performance where it felt like she might irritate him. She definitely brought more energy onto the stage though.
>>46700549You look like one yourself!
>>46700549Battler at a 2hucon?
>>46700341>>46700289No
next year we're all going to hang out anonsI'll make it for sure this time (hopefully)
>>46700786say it in red!>>46708163not me, though I want to cosplay Battler someday too. also, the guy just looks like an average nerd, so don't be rude to him.>>46708190not too surprising for there to be an overlap between fans. when we were standing in line, I was talking to my buddy about which Umineko sprite set was the best, and some guy right in front of us turned around to join in on the conversation. was a pretty neat experience to be in a place full of peers just like me and you.
>>46706646He's a stupid drunk nigger who was walking around drinking the entire time and I wanted to call the cops on him for being intoxicated in public. He is a disgrace to all white Americans wanting to go to Japan he is basically why I feel unsafe booking my trip to Tokyo. I can only imagine how bad this faggot makes us look
>>46708500He sounds cool you sound like a loser
>>46707469Kys
>>46708505Kek I don't need to be a fucking faggot like him to know shit. I made it on crypto I am more than ready to go to Japan and actually have a good time unlike you cock sucking faggot bitch. People laugh at your fat ass ripped dress knockoff shit you are a monkey and no one likes you
>>46708519Didn't read, loser
How was everyone's merch hauls? I just got some Nazrin stuff and that was it. Was tempted to buy a fumo.
>>46700003What do you do in situations like this? politely ask for permission to take a picture or just take it hoping they won't notice?
I had a great weekend and it was cool meeting you guys that went. People loved Orange and I got way more compliments and photo requests from my ZUN cosplay than I would’ve expected. I hope I can go again next year, so fingers crossed it all works out.>>46700003>>46708608I dunno, but she accidentally showed up in a pic I took and didn’t even notice until later. There’s convenient censoring though, so it’s probably whatever.
>>46708542I didn’t prioritize merch until the very end so I couldn’t get much. But I did manage to snag the only Orange merch I saw and the physical Sega Genesis fangame that was there. And some random keychains/buttons.
>>46691734As for some one who went to the con he crowd wa compiled of trufans/normies/ tourists /and fumos lots of fumosI did see a couple of politifag tourists there. Didn't really ruin the experience for me. Though I could tell a decent majority never played the games or delved deep in to the music, very surface level stuffBut it was still fun.
>>46692387Self Projection
>>46696655No need to worry annon in the eyes of a true 2hu-rist everyone in gensokyo is Trans, except rinnosuke he's gay
>>46708745Was there at least a tourney or some sort?
>>46708500False he was not drinking alcohol he was walking around with a large coke bottle the entire time
>>46707469Buff cirno is going places! Nice.
>>46708519>cryptoShit will be worthless by next week. Better start planning faggorino
>>46708818There was, one my friends participated and got destroyed
>>46708465You fucks were behind me and so cringeworthy that I didn’t bother to join in
I'd post some pics but tired from driving all the way back home
>>46709150how long was your drive
>>46709286An hour+ but was sleep deprived so I slept for 2 before hitting the road again
>Imagine actually going to commiefornia in 2024 willingly
So, to anyone who attended.Have the normies/tourists/secondaries ruined Touhou? Is Touhou 'joever', or are 'we so back'?
who do you think goes to conventions in the first place?
>>4671207850:50. There’s a fuckton of cringe and trannies walking around or preforming. But of the stalls there was only like 2 flags and 1 actually selling fagmerch, nobody was cheering for how stunning and brave anyone was, just for their great preformance, and everyone was more focused on just generally geeking out about Touhou and ignoring everything else. Even the generic anime stalls were practically ignored. So yeah there were normies and fags, but it felt like neutral ground where we could put shit aside to focus on the hobby like the good old days. 7/10 even my contrarian ass had fun.
>>46712078It wasn't many of that. They're were the cringe secondaries as mentioned like fumo fans and less knowledgeable ones as well but they were a small part of the presence there. There's alot of long time fans there like the dude who hosted Gensokyo Radio for 13+ years iirc, Gachimuchi fans, other such known reference material of older works / memes, and also to mention the ones with booths setup whether it be for game devs, music creation, artists merch they all had knowledge of old and have been in for awhile, + plus some of the con goers were likely in late 20s and 30s as well and I know maybe not the best example but they were there nonetheless.TLDR: There's a small bit of normies / secondaries / zoomers but they were a small majority and made felt like it's integrity was still in place.
>>46712548Oh wait, I forgot to add that there were some that traveled really far, even outside of the US just to be there. The amount of fans there were was more on the smaller side of a regular anime con so In hindsight a lot of who went were actual there for Touhou. Plus if it's anything, the merch being sold at booths had extra stuff there from other media's, but the first things that went out was 2hu merch.
>>46712445>>46712548>>46712601Glad to hear it, and I'm glad you both had fun. Twitter and other social media can really screw with the how the fandom is perceived, so I was fearing the worst.
>>46701407Punderfulll? More like Filterfulll.
>>46700549that fucking spy in "disguise" in the bg lmao
It's funny how /jp/ suddenly likes 3DPD when there's cosplay is involved.
>>46712902Still would
>>46713542If a 3d woman tries to improve herself by aspiring to become more like 2d perfection, then it would be cruel to spurn her efforts, futile they may be. We on /jp/ are kind like that.
>>46713597Totally not just because we want some pussy like the rest of the male population. Nuh uh. Especially if it looks a lot like mai waifu. Never.
>>46712902didn't know that plunderfull was sakuya since her, buff meiling, and buff cirno were my favorite cosplayers. insane how low she can go with her DIO pose. all of them inspire me to get /fit/
>>46700549There's literally nothing wrong with crossplaying at a con, it's when you start forcing muh pronouns and cutting off your cock when there's a problem.
>>46713702no one said that there was something wrong with cosplaying. it's just that there are men who cosplay as female characters (which is what you'd expect from touhou), and then there are men trying to BE women. thankfully the latter group was pretty small and wasn't more of a nuisance than the average awkward nerd.
>>46713542okay but have you considered
>>46708720I saw some images of that cutout on twitter, was this some futa nitori thing or am I missing something

>>46716826Dayum, Reimu got dat drip!
Haul 1/2Really happy with the amount of English doujin comics that was available. I think it's just cool that they exist. Fan games and arranges, too.All my favorite characters were represented as charms/keychains/pins/stickers.Love the Sanae in a hoodie card; I have no idea what to do with it and I wasn't planning on getting it at first, but I couldn't get it out of my head.Thinking of getting a photo album for the card and the stickers. What does everyone else do with their stickers?
2/2T-shirts. I wanted to get the Marisa one already last year, but they were sold out before I could get it in 2023. Finally got it!I also got a donut from Kanako and bathwater from Wakasagihime. Truly a blessed event.

You geeks will go to a fun convention and still find a way to be miserable niggas after the fact. How do you even manage from day to day.
>>46723094I don't think hanging out with faggot secondaries dressed as TF2 characters and autistic trannies makes for a ``fun" convention.
>>46723094/jp/sies are mostly miserable sacks of shit who live in their house all day
>>46723930How easy was it to spot a /jp/ user in the convention?
>>46723094I think most of it is performative. some guys just try to pretend that they're too cool to have fun. if they REALLY disliked conventions, they wouldn't be posting ITT, having moved onto other threads
>>46695931oh boy here comes the shartyfag/bantculture faggot with their zoomer defense force award. unironically neck yourself.
>>46700817>fumo racing when SKY DRIFTAN existsngmi. but seriously play gensou sky drift
>>46724207lets be honest, that game is pretty but it just isn't all that fun. It's lacking 'something' - mechanics could use some improvement. It's showing potential in touhou racing games, but soon as fumo racing gets online multiplayer its over for any other game.
>>46720703This alone makes me wanna attend next year's convention. No clue if I'll be able to or how I'd get there, but this looks like great fun.
>>46724223i like it. I used to speedrun it for fun. haven't tried fumo kart but fucking love gensou sky drift

I went on Saturday only cosplaying newsboy Aya. Though it's not a competition, I like to think I one-upped my fellow Ayas by actually handing out newspapers and Polaroid pictures, even if I only handed out like 15 of each.Compared to other cons I've been to (which to be fair are only Anime Expo and the local cons in my city), this one seemed to have a higher incidence rate of autism. That, and it kinda felt like a convention for people who know each other on Twitter. I got a burger from the parking lot though so that was cool.
>>46722064yeah>>46722789nope but we got pics with them
>>46724982small haul + bonus pictures of my camera and the newspaper I made to hand out
>>46725117whoops
do they sell porno over there?
>>46725241Last year there was a booth selling doujins of the porn/not-porn variety. Didn’t see them this year though.>>46724982I think I saw you, nice cosplay!>higher incidence rate of autismNo kidding. I had a few incredibly awkward conversations with people who were 110% autistic, but they were still nice people.

>>46724982With the Aya on your shoulder right? Aside from the real crows flying around you were the realest to be fair.I had no idea you were handing out stuff, we would have definitely said hi and take a picture if we knew.
>>46724982thank you for taking our picture!
>>46727752rotate!
>>46727752>>46727804i really thought that rotating the image would work
>>46727816You gotta crop the image a bit first Anon.
>>46727894okay lemme try with this one
>>46725060So just being sure, you guys are the ones in the middle or the ones at the side? Wonder if the ones at the side post on /jp/?
>>46728012I'm flan. my remilia isn't a /jp/ poster but we both went to the con from the UK together
>>46728012oh i just understood what you meantyes we're the middle onesno i don't think the side ones are /jp/ posters
>>46724223The game bugged out for me a lot but it does look good for sure
Here is most of my haul.Hopefully next year will have any kind of Kogasa merch.
>>46728038>actual 2hu kigus showed upHoly based.
To any anons that went to this and the previous ones: was the con bigger or smaller compared t other years? I'm really surprised Touhou is more popular in the west now than 10 years ago, how come?
>>46728764I walked into the pine garden after closing, and it was full of kiggers.Terrifying!
>>46728772This year was the second iteration of the con and I think it nearly doubled in overall size and attendance from last year's.
>>46728772I don't know how big TouhouCon was.If I recall correctly, TouhouFest 2023 had about 800 attendants, while 2024 had about 1100. So about 40% bigger.
I'm finally back from TouhouFest! It was an absolutely incredible experience. A surprising amount of people liked my cosplay and asked to take pictures of/with me, and the concerts were incredible.
>>46729382who'd you cosplay as?
>>46729401Yukari. I couldn't escape the feeling that I fucked up my makeup, but I'm satisfied with the result.
>>46729406Post picsMake up is something you just have to practice a lot before getting a good feel of it. if you're a guy and use makeup at all you're already doing better than most crossplayers
>>46729437Please don't doxx me.
>>46729460I died when Koishi took a commanding swig out of your drink container and immediately spat it out during the cosplay contest, if I'm remembering correctly.
>>46729460>likes Yukari AND Kirby>cosplay is very decentNice. Did you make it yourself or is it one of those you can buy online?
>>46729471LMAO yeah. I call this drink "The Yukari." You can guess what's in it if you'd like.>>46729476Thank you!! It's mostly online-bought, with some touches I did myself. I'll make it even better next year.
>>46729460Yeah, I don't see anything really bad with your makeup. If you want a more "matte" finish so to speak there's certain techniques you can use but otherwise this looks pretty decent, is it your first time cosplaying as a 2hu?
>>46729531Thank you! I appreciate the feedback, especially since I have pretty much no natural talent with makeup. I just got advice from friends, memorized it, and prayed that I didn't fuck it up too badly on the day-of. This is my 2nd time cosplaying as a 2hu, but the first time was just a month or two ago.
>>46727752gonna be honest, i did not take that onethat looks like fujifax instax mini film, while I was shooting polaroid 600you guys were great though!
>>46729484What was in it? I'm curious. You guys raving at the front the whole time seemed like a lot of fun. I enjoyed the con way more when I decided to pregame day 2 lol.
>>46730394Oh, raving at the front was the time of my life. And for sure, always nice to get a little toasty. My flask was was half Sake, half Monster energy drink. I call it "The Yukari" because I feel like Yukari would definitely drink it too.
>>46730464LOL nice. I had a bottle of soju on the way there and felt like it wasn't enough. Got halfway through a bottle of sake by itself then started to get a headache so I stopped (I don't weigh that much lol). That was the most I have drank so far and it actually made me more willing to initiate conversations with people since I'm regularly a hardcore introvert.Next year I will definitely try to reach a point where I could feel comfortable doing stuff like you guys did without being a publicly intoxicated nuisance.
>>46730514>Next year I will definitely try to reach a point where I could feel comfortable doing stuff like you guys did without being a publicly intoxicated nuisance.Remember anon, moving outside your comfort zone is a skill just like anything else. Keep practicing in your day-to-day life, and next Touhoufest you too will be dancing in the front.
>>46712902built for BWC
Were any of the panels good?
>>46700483If I go cosplay at the next touhoufest I'm gonna make sure I keep my beard just so nobody gets confused as to what I think I am.
>>46729628oopsstill though, it was really nice to receive a polaroid, i'm keeping it in my wallet. you (andf the other guy giving out polaroids) made a lot of people happy doing that
>>46716800Source: It's me
>>46736074Gensokyo You Can! Moriya Shrine: The Gateway to Touhou Pilgrimage was amazing. It was a panel filled with information about travelling to Japan to visit the real Moriya Shrine, what prices would be like approximately, real-life history behind the shrine, their culture/traditions/lineage, what to see and do while there, and how the real-life history influenced ZUN's spell card designs in Mountain of Faith.Full bias because the person running the panel is a close friend of mine.
>>46737260that sounds awesome! did someone record it?
>>46700483Case in point>>46729460>>46729484
>>46737283I believe so. I'll message him and see if he knows who was recording him.
What are the chances that Miko-tan goes to /jp/?
>>46737361He's probably aware of its presence at least, because he did mention to me how some haters on 4chan wanted the event to fail.Which is kind of sad because I feel like only a few /jp/sies truly wanted TouhouFest to fail. The rest were just shitposting.
>>46737402That sadly actually sounds more like he's listening to the general over on /v/ or more likely his staff is.
>>46737402I'm massively put off by the calarts style of the promotional art, and I don't think I'd like any of the panels. I wouldn't be able to go anyway since I'm a eurofag with no money for transatlantic intracontinental connecting flights, but I'd maybe go if it was on my doorstep. Maybe.yes this is a shameless bump post, thanks for asking
>>46737297did you get a response?
>>46743927Nope! He's a busy person and probably working. I'll let you know if I get a response.
>>46745661thank you for reaching out to him! I love MoF so any info behind the spellcard designs is really exciting to me
>>46746298He just got back to me."I hope to make it available over the weekend if I can put my mind to it"So please wait warmly.
>>46736074I didn't watch it live, but the "M-1 Grand Prix - translating on Lunatic" got recorded and it's pretty good. You can watch it here:https://youtu.be/dp9P0XXba-QIt brings up a lot of interesting examples of how and why they choose to translate certain jokes the way they did. A lot of details on their translation process for specific jokes, where they showed earlier versions of their translations and discuss how they iteratively improved on them.It also has some rules of thumb for when it is OK to replace untranslatable jokes, when you have to Translation Note them, or just trust the viewer to known. They also discuss aspects of making translations for an established franchise driven by fan translations, to avoid the pitfalls of calling youkai "ghouls" because the fandom has established standardized translations for certain concepts. This also means that they have to avoid using the word "incident" since that has a specific meaning to English Touhou fans.I'm sure they cherry picked translation examples that they were proud of, but they definitely put a lot of thought into those particular translations, and their examples could well serve as inspiration for future translators.
touhoufest was a good time for me, hope to make it back next year
What is the likelihood of Touhoufest still being around in a few years? I want to go and take my whole family so we can all cosplay together, but some of my kids are way too little at the moment.
>>46750348I wouldn't be surprised if it stays. This and last year went great, next year is planned. Staff seem to be careful not to make the same mistake(s) as Touhoucon, so as long as they do that, it should be safe.>bringing kidsI would be surprised, but I saw a lot of kids at reitaisai, so it isn't that weird anymore
>>46750348Like the other Anon said, things seem to be going well for them so far, so as of right now Touhoufest should in theory be around for a good while. But keep in mind that the ones organizing this event in the first place are Twitter types, and those people are prone to drama at the drop of a hat (on top of being massive drama queens). All it'd take would be the smallest disagreement between them and it'd all be over. I just hope that doesn't happen though, these past two events have been a lot of fun and have been a good excuse to visit LA again.
>>46750348>>46750819>>46751467The head admin almost has their PhD in Public Administration and has been the treasurer/doing finances for other cons for years. It's in good hands at the top, if nothing else.
>>46750348I saw some kids this year, so it wouldn't be weirdly out of place. Although I wouldn't want my kids around a bunch of otaku.
>>46752970There was a Junko leading 2 Reisens around on a leash, I definitely wouldn't want my kids seeing something that...
>>46753727God I wish that was me.
>>46753727Not going to lie, I was dying laughing at that.
>>46750348make them wear touhou themed micro bikinis
>>46751467The one actually on top of running this event (Mikotan) is very focused on making Touhoufest as community-oriented as possible. I went this year and it was by far the best con I'd ever been to. For me, good conventions always have to be the ideal mix between enthusiast socializing, programming, and the actual flow of events. I've actually had conversation with a fair number of staff this year (even volunteered to help out at some point as a normal con-goer) and it seems they all share the same sentiment everyone else does: The con is good specifically because it strikes a healthy balance where everyone can get along and have a good time. It's the sort of focus that allowed MAGFest to remain as community-oriented as it was even after Covid, and what separates it from overly business-focused cons like Anime Expo. Also if it helps to know, I went last year and the pattern always seems to be that people who complain or fear something online always do a 180 for the actual event.tl;dr I've personally met staff and I have tons of reasons to trust them and that this con will remain very good for years to come.
>>46753727pictures???
>>46737283>>46746298It's on youtube! Unfortunately, the last 10 minutes or so are cut off. I think the camera ran out of storage or something.Still, it's better than nothing. I hope you enjoy it, he worked really hard on it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8Wqj2_j46s
>>46756427thank you so much!
>>46756427Feels good knowing people like his panel since he really helped me plan my 2 day Suwa trip that starts in a couple days. I can try and report how it goes each night, or at least after I'm finished
>>46743899>I wouldn't be able to go anyway since I'm a eurofag with no money for transatlantic intracontinental connecting flights,At that point why the fuck bother flying to california for this fan convention when it takes the same effort to go to the actual touhou event in japan
>>46759706Most likely due to the language barrier. Kind of hard to interact with people at a con when you dont know the language too well.
>>46755865
>>46762149This, plus the Japanese seem quite pissy to me. Not enough that you can't ignore it, but enough that I can't help but notice it.I've probably just spent too long here and have associated those weird nihon supremacists you sometimes see with the actual culture, but ehhhh... they're weird in ways beyond the "Oh look, a porn shop on the high street and shitters that wipe your ass for you" way.I like things because I like them, not because I feel I'm obligated to like them or not because of what other people think, before anyone asks that question.
>>46762149Languages can be learned brother
>>46762203Cringe.
