Are air fryers just bulky, low capacity ovens? Am I just being scammed by buying one? Is there actually a difference in what I can make in an air fryer and an oven? Why would I get an air fryer instead of an oven?
>>100200655They're glorified convection ovens.
>>100200655its for poorfags who cant afford real fan ovens
>>100200713AKSHUALLY, they're closer in cooking style and time to an impingement oven
>>100200655>Why would I get an air fryer instead of an oven?speed, they'll cook things twice as fast as an oven. they are for the fat fuck who cant wait when its been known for centuries that cooking things slower makes them taste better
>>100200713>>100200751What does a “convection oven” or a “fan oven” even do that a normal oven doesn’t? To me it sounds like the food would be cooked and would taste the same. Who gives a fuck if air is blown on it?
>>100200794with a fan oven it blows the heat around inside so food gets cooked evenly on all sides and it can also run at a lower temperature, saving money on energy bills.
>>100200655Tried it with freedom fries and it was shit.
ill stick to a real fryer oil/fat is what tastes good
>>100200655It's a double edged sword. It's healthier because you don't use oil with them but it's bad for you because most air fryers are made with chinesium.
>>100200814Ovens also cook food from all sides, are you fucking dumb? The whole thing sounds like a scam to trick retard housewives to buy shit they don’t need. >“But honey, this uses air technology to cool the food evenly from all sides, we really should buy it!”Can anyone on the face of the earth say: “I prefer the food cooked in an air fryer from that cooked in a normal oven”?
just get one that does everything since standard range ovens take too long to heat up.
>>100200655all i need is a rice cooker
>>100200878Pressure cookers are better than your overpriced japscrap until you get to the $300+ range on japscrap
>>100200655They are the most convenient way to make chicken tendies.Potatoes come out somewhere between baked and fried, and you really use a minimal amount of oil. It's great for reheating food that would otherwise get soggy if you microwave it.It's a lot quicker than my old school oven.Overall I'm happy with mine.
>>100200857Really? So you've never, ever had the issue of your chicken being all nice and crispy on top but still raw on the bottom?
>>100200925you think zoomers even know how to fucking cook? lmao.
>>100200857best I could get out of a quick search is that cooking times are often lower with a convection oven and at lower temperatures. reminds me of my pressure cooker which is absolutely the best at "slow" cooking meat in well under an hour. so yeah great for housewives
>>100200925No you fucking retard. I have an oven like the one in shown in >>100200867. I just set it to 230C for 50 minutes without pre warming it and it cooks my chicken thoroughly. Are you so dumb that you had to buy an air “fryer” so that you don’t eat raw chicken?
>>100200655>picrelYou just know..
>>100200957 But who cares about cooking time? You can’t do something else for 20 extra minutes while it cooks? And is a pressure cooker/slow cooker or an air fryer a better cooking tech investment?
I can tell from almost all replies here that you faggots cannot cook, have not used either device.Lmao, so pathetic.Go continue eating your instant ramen.
>>100200965The one shown in that picture is a convection oven, which is what we were talking about...
>>100200965>No you fucking retard. I have an oven like the one in shown inoh no, it's retarded
>>100200980>But who cares about cooking time? How to out yourself as an unemployed tranny
>>100201002>almost allYes, we're professionals unlike the rest. :^)
>>100200655Generally, 'air fryer' is term used to describe a countertop convection oven. >>>/ck/
Seems like some fags in this thread are defining air fryer as those pod-tray things, and don't realize air fryers can also just be square counter top mini ovens.
>>100201060Not exactly the same. Convection ovens only use the fans to circulate the air (usually low to med speed) once in a while to maintain temps through the oven since normal ovens are hotter up top. Air fryers have the fans running full blast the entire time to ensure the exterior surface of the ingredient can crisp up. Usually cook times and temps needed are adjusted somewhat similar to below>Normal oven: 400F, 60 min>Convection oven: 350-375F, 45-50 min>Air fry: 325-350F, 30-40 minThose early style air fry basket things are just stupid though. Much better to get a unit that's similar in design to a countertop toaster oven. And if you really have money, go an additional step up with some like the Anova which can also do sous vide and steam (for bread mostly)
>>100200965>convection ovens are a scam because my convection oven works perfectlyanon you are retardeda fan-forced oven just uses a fan to circulate the air faster meaning you use less power for the same cook time. a convection oven uses the thermondynamic properties of hot air to circulate the heat, but this means it needs to run the heating element for longer pulses. wood fired and gas ovens are usually always convection, while most modern electric ovens can do either.an air fryer is just a convection oven, exactly like your picture, but because it's smaller it heats up quicker and can heat more evenly and more efficiently.when you hit market saturation, name your product differently and sell it again. it works 100% of the time, just look at intel CPUs from 2016-2021. or fucking cars. what has actually changed in a toyota land cruiser or anything else in the last two decades except for the body shape and the stero/infotainment console? maybe a slightly more efficient engine? just change the shape a bit and sell it again. air fryer is just the same as what you have but in a different shape. and people buy it.
>>100200764>cooking things slower makes them taste betterOkay fatty you keep doing that while i keep eating to survive.
>>100201105It's because pods are still better for formerly deep-fried recipes and precooked frozen shit, and the majority of people still can't fucking cook even though food prices have gone through the roof. Personally im waiting for a competent dual countertop air fyer/oven as my next upgrade since I've moved the majority of my cooking to my existing countertop oven. Standard oven ranges are honestly a huge fucking waste unless you got a permanent stay at home wife regularly cooking for a family of 5+, but obviously those things went out of fashion due to feminism.
>>100201371>Personally im waiting for a competent dual countertop air fyer/oven as my next upgradethese are everywhere in japan, but usually they are specifically fish-sized and can grill as well. I think americans call it a broiler, but the ones I've used visiting relatives there have been basically multipurpose ovens
>>100201398that's not a double oven mate, that's just a compact stove + oven.
>>100200655>Are air fryers just bulky, low capacity ovens?Yes (convection oven)>Am I just being scammed by buying one? No>Is there actually a difference in what I can make in an air fryer and an oven? Some people have even made bread in air fryers
>>100201398The US had double ovens for ages now, but if you're cooking for <3, then even those are still too big and will heat up the whole house. Basically the combo range + ovens should be a triple oven, otherwise I'll take a dual countertop air frying oven instead.
>>100201443>Some people have even made bread in small ovensPeople die when they are killed???>>100201421oh sorry, i misunderstood. still, one of these plus a regular full-size oven underneath would easily solve my kitchen workflow, although I'd still want a stone woodfired oven outside for things like pizza or smoked meats
>>100200655The normal Philips and Tefal ones are. I now got a Ninja multicooker that can do al kinds of shit like steam airfry making the insides better.
>>100200655Smaller size, faster cooking, generally easier, no oil. It's also much easier to clean. I just take the basket out and hose it down in the backyard.
>>100201547Are you happy with the Ninja multicooker? I’m thinking of getting one.
>>100200655How do these retarded fads even start? Like coffee pods and meme blenders.
>>100201600Don’t talk shit about coffee pods. They make drinkable coffee in seconds.
>>100201644You could too, by like grinding coffee beans and pouring hot water over it.
>>100201573based and airfryer-pilled
>>100201600when your wife is working even more than you and nobody has energy or time left to cook, people will start figuring out quicker ways to get around that.
>>100201573Damn, now I want one too.
>>100201684I guess that makes sense. Less time cooking means more time for sex.
>>100200893I bought a pressure cooker for stews, and I end up making rice in mine 90% of the time. And I can make any type of rice I want, always the same ratio of 1:1.1 rice to water.
>>100201600>no worry about grease fires>cooks faster than grease in general>no popping grease everywhere>healthier>no worrying about disposing grease, letting it cool just enough to pour it out>literally put food in fryer, push buttons, wait, receive delicious french fries, no babysitting required>"retarded"while i agree with coffee pods (i love using my friends' keurig, but fuck that expensive, wasteful shit) and "meme blenders" (who wants to clean that shit out?), air fryers and instant pot pressure cookers are based.
>>100201129No it's not. The Philips style is still the best shape for this appliance.
>>100201573exhaled audibly out of my nose at "hose it down in the backyard"
>>100200655They heat up and cook faster than an oven. That's the main advantage.
>>100201786Sure, if you can't cook and only eat deep-fried shit like fries and tendies. I know because I was an early adopter for those shitty as pods. For everything else they have shit capacity, are awful to clean, and take up way too much space for a unitasker.
>>100200857People who say this don't own an air fryer.>>100200655Get one, get a bigger one than you think you need, you will never look back.
I got one four years ago for like $50 and I use it all the time. I think I got my money's worth.
>>100201817I see your preference is based on experience, I will keep it in mind in the future. I make that shit in the air frier, or vegetables. The more complex foods I make in a regular oven.
>>100201817my favorite thing to make in air fryer is salmonthe surface is non-stick, literally just spray that shit offyou're acting like cleaning greasy pans is somehow easier, so obviously you're just replying to be contradictory.also the capacity is fine if you're not a fat fuck.
>>100201959>he surface is non-stick, literally just spray that shit offdon't worry, I know you're a fucking slob that never actually cleans anything properly. Go and take a pic of the area ABOVE the basket for everyone to see. the fact that you air fry salmon and don't notice the smell in other shit also means your sense of smell is shot too.
>>100201597Yes, its a lot better than the Tefal I had. I have a Speedi and it is great for me alone. The only things I dislike are small things about the tray. If your meat is to big you need to put the leg vertical on top of the carbs and veggies. And the handle on tray is too small. If you have kids you can probably not make enough fries in one go. Maybe with steam airfrying it works.
>>100201919The most complicated things I make are cookies and pizza. For anything else """real""" food, I'm taking the advice of pressure cooker anon. I think 6 appliances is all I'll ever need. Microwave, induction range, air fryer, pressure cooker, mini fridge, and immersion blender.Air fryer supplants the toaster. I'm only using the range for eggs and pasta>Food let>>>/Ck/>>100201772They sell mesh bottom reusable kcups in coffee aisles in Texas, idk about kekistan

>>100202085>no electric kettle>a kikerowave
>>100202126>electric kettleoutdated shit. if you really use hot water that much instant boilers can give you hot water in seconds by sending 1500W+ straight into a pipe. otherwise a microwave is still faster, and the dude has an induction range which is also fast at boiling water.

>>100202163>KHG MBO-15SThis was the smallest conventional oven with a fan that I could find.
>>100200762>impingementum, sweaty, impingement ovens ARE convection ovens
>>100200857>use gas oven>takes forever to warm all the air inside the oven>use electric fan oven>????>profit
>>100200655Whatever they're, it's a cooking utensil that's cheap and small, doesn't take much space on my countertop, and can be used to cook without oil. While it's true it's mostly used to cook frozen premade products, it doesn't mean you can't use it for proper meals.Try cooking potatos, chicken breasts. roast some nuts. etc.
Cuisinart TOA-60 is one of the best, because it does just about everything well.Air Frying is not "just a convection oven. It has more to do with the proximity of the food to the heating elements, and the particular heating elements used.>BakingEven heating from top AND bottom elements; with or without fan. Fan is great when baking pizzas and you want a nice even finish on the toppings. No fan better when baking bread or cakes.>BroilBroiling is like upside-down grilling. You set the thermostat to max. It yields awesome results with meats in terms of them being tender without being overcooked because it heats indirectly. Only outer two top elements activate and can be used with or without fan.>Air FryUses all top heating elements and fan to heat food evenly across the pan. Usually set to 400 deg F to sear food. Consistent awesome results with fries, nuggets, reheating pizza, hot dogs, etc.I do not use a microwave. Microwaves literally alter the chemical structure of the foods it cooks by messing bonds at a molecular level.
I would take photos of the innards of my air fryer but I would be banned for goreposting
>>100200655The difference between an air fryer and a convection oven is that an air fryer has a nonstick basin that you just dump your slop into and press a button. That makes it so much more convenient than an oven where you actually have to prep your food in a dish. Using a basin instead of a rack is as big a difference as adding little wheels to your luggage.
>got an airfryer>test all kinds of stuff with good results>decide to try a piece of toast and a slice of cheese>put it in there at 100c for like 3min>do other kitchen stuff until it finishes>open it up>the toast is there>cheese is gone>figure I went schizo and never put on a slice of cheese>next day>cooking something else in it>few minutes in there's a fuckton of smoke>the dish inside isn't burnt or dripping>realize that the cheese the day before had melted and flown inside the airfryer and was now coating everything and burning up

>>100202166it's 5:55 am you tard, i'm not going to my kitchen to take a picture of my air fryer for some cuck on 4chan.
>>100202425>cheese "flew" inside air fryer>cheese completely disappeared from toast enough to make you think it wasn't there at all>didn't smell burnt cheeseunless you were using some kind of pure liquid cheese, idk how the fuck you accomplished this. cheese doesn't do that even in a normal oven.
>>100202488It was a gouda, and its a philips xxl, it's a jet engine. I have to worry about small pieces, like fries, that could end up flying inside too.The cheese most likely melted and was slowly flying away, like slime dripping.
I exclusively use an air fryer to bake fries. My regular Miele oven is a bit of a hassle for turning the fries around. I'd say that's the only use case for such an airfryer.
>>100202159>>fat grease-cooking slob judging air fryersnigger, meats naturally have fat, and salmon is a fatty fish. not even the anon you're replying to, you're both retarded for arguing about oils when it's clear that any meat will create greasy surfaces on literally any appliance
>>100203037i was talking about regular frying, you dumbass.way to jump in to a conversation to look like a retard.
>>100202488If you put a slice of cheese on top of something the air that circulates gets under it and blows it to the top. I have had that with old Dutch cheese. The same that happens when you heat up a tortilla.
>>100203271>closes tab
>>100200794What does a "dehydrator" even do that a normal sunshine doesn't? To me it sounds like the food would be dehydrated and would taste the same. Who gives a fuck if air is blown on it?
>>100202425this nigga's cheese just ran!!!!! his cheese be like naahh
I read the thread and still can't tell whether I should get a mini-oven or meme fryer
>>100200822It works better on French fries
>>100200893Pressure cooker changed my life
>>100201398>>100201421That's a broiler
>>100203501being able to cook dry beans to perfection in 90 minutes is amazing
>>100200794without circulation, a temperature gradient forms bc the food acts as a heat sink
>>100203195cool cope retard, why were you replying to a picture of a greasy air fryer then
>>100200794what happens when you blow air into a furnace? there's a reason all smelteries do it, even african mud ones.
>>100200655My air fryer has been one of my best buying decisions of recent times. They promised so many things, like, there was some hidden flavor in my food, and by using the flavor it would squeeze it out of it, causing everything to taste more intensely. It was true.It reminded me of monosodium glutamate, which has a similar effect, except air fryer flavors are unique in that there's no way to get them in any other way.Like roasting gives a specific flavor.Or boiling gives a specific flavor.Air frying gives a specific flavor.Heck, it does not replace cooking in a pan, but after cooking in a pan I just get the already made food that is still hot into the air fryer so it gets that flavor, and it's still the best way to melt cheese. Now, afterwards I bought two more of different brands because the one I had was too small. And to my surprise those ones tasted awful. Like, imagine that's a line between well cooked food, and burnt food, these ones would make it taste 20% burnt. Put it less time in there? Still would taste 10% burnt...So now I have two unused fryers that are useless, so brand and size may be important, try a small one, and cook the food before putting it inside, and food ill taste much better (home made KFC tastes better than actual KFC, etc.)
>>100200846>oil/fat is what tastes goodSo just put it in, nothing stops you from putting as much oil/fat in the air fryer as you want.
>>100203606putting oil in an air fryer sound like asking for a cleaning nightmare
is there anything healthy you can make in an airfryer? checkmate, retards
>>100200655can I fry your mom?HAHAHAHAHAHAhttps://youtu.be/2qY1WAe7n4I
>>100200655For me, I use one because it's faster, more efficient (since it's smaller, not as much air has to be heated up) and it allows me to prepare meals with less fat
reheating pizza in the air fryer is much better than regular oven or microwave because it gets a nice crispy texture on the outside because the air dehydrates the surface
>>100200655Yes
>>100203439People forget to mention the taste, air frying makes chicken taste like KFC or better, try to get that flavor with an oven or something else. But everything else is like that.Pictured here are my favorite sausages ever, these bacon flavored ones are perfect for hot dogs, and you are supposed to roast them, but the best flavor you're gonna get is by air frying them, no oven or pan or even smoking them or doing them burger meat style will get you this flavor. Crispy outside, tender inside.Only air frying.
>>100203630Nope, you put it on the water sink and it's as good to go immediately. One thing I do is saving the used oil of one food for the next, specially because they sell around here some delicious turkey with flavors like mesquite or al pastor and the way is to save its oil and then use that oil for pork or beef. And for a moment you stop eating because you realize you're in the nirvana of flavor and can't believe how good it tastes.
>>100203654Research the Nocebo effect, everything can be healthy if you believe it.
>>100203722Protip: frying its floor on a pan and then leaving it on the air fryer for several minutes at low temperature until the cheese melts will make it taste better than the way they sell it. I'm a really big fan of the cheese threads that form.Actually, the way they sell it will taste raw in comparison.
>>100203828>I'm a really big fan of the cheeseI had to put a pic of them. How do anons manage to get them when reheating pizza without an air fryer?
>>100203760>air frying makes chicken taste like KFC or betteryou're not getting anything close to KFC taste or texture on consumer equipment since KFC uses pressure fryers.
>>100203594I bet 1 ETH that if we cooked the exact same shit in a 70 dollar oven you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. An air “fryer” is just a convection oven, and above all, an OVEN. It’s all heat anyways. Also “cook the food before putting it inside” fucking kek I want my air fryer to COOK THE FOOD you fucking moron
>>100203760>>100203594have you never deep fried anything or something
>>100203893>you're not getting anything close to KFC taste or texture on consumer equipment since KFC uses pressure fryers. What I'm telling you, is that I'm doing it (the secret is to boil the chicken before breading it).Besides the texture, I claim it tastes even better thanks to the celery salt I add to it. And... Knorr chicken cubes powder. Also, my home made hamburgers kick the ass of McDonnalds and Burger Kings and such, if you learned how to make hamburgers you'd know what I'm talking about.
>>100200655actually started cooking at home because got one. no waiting for oven to heat up, easy to clean and food is good. cooks and reheats most food items. oven makes sense if cooking larger stuff or for many people.Have to add a bit of oil to every piece of "dry" food tho.

Also, you picked the wrong guy, they sell 16 different brands of soda apple flavors in my area, I could easily tell them apart, so cooking on oven or air fryer would be as easy as telling the difference between something toasted and something roasted...>“cook the food before putting it inside” fucking kek I want my air fryer to COOK THE FOOD you fucking moronWhy? We're talking about the final product here, if frying it on a pan before putting it on the air fryer gives you the best outcome, why wouldn't you do it?You have the stove, the pan, and the air fryer, just use them all instead of trying to replace one appliance with another.
>>100203901Yeah, deep frying is a scam. You can just get a tall pan and put a bunch of oil in it and "deep fry" in it, and if done well it can beat a deep fryer, specially in the juicy department, and leaving you with "meat crumbs" which are delicious, those just toast in an air fryer.I'm not saying use an air fryer instead of that, I'm saying there's some thing that taste the best air fried.
>>100203964>Where do you find the time for thisIt takes hours to boil the chicken, but you can let it do its stuff while you do other things, so just start cooking hours before meal time.
>>100200857do you know what wind chill is? it's the same as that but in reverse. I actually prefer my chicken tendies in my air fryer because the meat seems to stay juicier than when it's made in my toaster oven (which has a convection setting, there's no comparison to the air fryer really). That being said, it's not as versatile as a regular oven or toaster oven, if I could only own one, I would choose more traditional style ovens.

>>100205550If there was any chance of it being harmful, the European Union would have regulated it to the ground. If you’re in the US that’s a different story.
I bought one for my mother and she absolutely loves it, to the point she bought a mini version for the family caravan. Was frankly impressed by the speed at which it cooks stuff, but what really sold me on them was getting a freshly baked croissant from frozen in less than 10 mins.I suspect chunky potatoes and some veg may need to be par boiled prior to putting it in the air fryer. I would keep a conventional oven if you have it, for larger items and family roasts.>>100204762Looked this up and I am very tempted to buy it, just wondering how it handles frozen veg. The only issue is the non-stick basket. I'm aware you have to treat the basket gingerly, but is it easy to get spares if the non-stick coating chips?
>>100205720Regulations vary and all corporations have to do is add instructions telling the consumer to use the product a certain way, for example saying to only use it up to certain temps. Like the other anon is telling you, BPA is not the only thing that leeches from those plastics and bisphenols (BP) come in various flavours. Here is a study from China testing plastic food containers from different countries >Beyond BPA – Many bisphenols migrate from food packaginghttps://www.foodpackagingforum.org/news/beyond-bpa-many-bisphenols-migrate-from-food-packaging>It only happens in the US, not to us yuropoors, nuh uh!Well let's see>Several European studies found that many plasticizers migrated from plastic containers and wraps into foods as they were heated in microwave ovens. >The amount of chemical absorbed by the food depended on the temperature of the container and food, the duration of the heating, the type of plastic used and its initial plasticizer content, as well as the type of food being heated. Read this line:>As a general rule, the fattier the food, the more of the chemicals potentially can be absorbed and retained by it. More research should be done in this area. That means you can be at more risk just because of the type of food you're preparing>If you want to minimize exposure to chemicals from plastics as much as possible during any type of cooking, use inert containers, such as heat-resistant glass, ceramics and stainless steel.
>>100200655I love mine, especially during hotter months I'll drag it outside and make sides while I use the grill for the main.
>>100200857>>100204104>>100200857I cant fucking believe it took to the last reply for any of you consooomers to be able to answer this slightly above subhuman niggers simple questionThe fact that he had to ask it is bad enough but that almost none of you could actually answer why you don't die of heat stroke in the sun actually makes me lividly inconceivably mad.
>>100205963I've used mine quite abusively and it hasn't chipped yet, you can use a scour pad and put it in the dishwasher and it still looks fine. It grills just like a grill for the most part for veggies, kabobs, streak, chicken, etc cook just fine on it. So yeah you can just throw frozen veggies in with some lemon pepper and salt and it'll come out pretty good. Also nuggets, corn dogs, burritos, etc all come out excellent, almost worth it just for how it cooks a corn dog and nugget but ultimately what it's best at is grilling meat.
>>100205720Yeah anon, your brave country going to ban all plastics? The fact is most modern food is prepared using plastic they will not ban plastic even though they should and the cost (some cancer, estrogen properties like early puberty in girls) has already been deemed worth it.
>>100205963>>100206281There are after-market silicone baking trays for every type of oven out there so that you damage the oven itself
>>100206451so that you don't* damage it
>>100206451You just damage yourself and get cancer
> be me> has gas powered stove and oven> be this thread> WHY DON'T YOU BUY CHINKTECH FOR POOR PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN CARAVANS?!!?!absolute dumpster fire: the state of this thread.
>>100204306Aside boiling water, microwave is useless or simply harmful.
>>100206682Because some of us like to cook things in 10-20 minutes instead of 30-50 and not heat up the whole house doing it?
>>100206719> heat up the house?. are you living in some shitty new york apartment where your bedroom is the loungeroom and kitchen? i have a kitchen. I close the door, turn on the exhaust fan and it's perfectly fine.>10-20 minutes instead of 30-50 depends on what i'm making. frying stuff usually within that 10-20min timespan as it is. anything over 20+ mins usually involves me baking something like cakes. I think you faggots just have no idea how to cook or you live in shoeboxes in Manhattan.
>>100206719>10min difference>his broken over heats up the whole houseget your shit fixed
>>100206825>>100206847Nothing says poorfag like someone seething that someone uses an airfryer.
>>100206857no, you retarded nigger. poor is buying chinkshit because you don't even live in a real fucking house with a real oven. stop embarrassing yourself. you need to face the facts of how you have no idea about how anything works.
>>100206884I guarantee my oven is better than yours.
I live in an asian condoplex, no large ovens here, my air fryer has completely replaced the counter top oven.Scallops, steaks, fried wontons, fried dumplings, french fries, hash browns, tater tots, chicken nuggets, scallion pancakes, toasting bread, hamburger and hotdog buns, mini pizzas etc. Set and forget, like using a microwave, no preheating needed, only need to occasionally shake midway when I'm in a hurry and overload it.It's not for everyone, but it works for me.
>>100203528that happens in any fan oven as well, hotter air always rises and anything near the top of a fan oven cooks more than anything near the bottomt. restaurant cook
>>100206884You are braindead niggercattle. You’re commenting on a thread on the use of air fryers while you’ve never had one. Can you even think in hypotheticals? You might as well change your name to Jamal.>>100207238Why would I take the advice of someone forced to do the work of a helot? Might as well ask the garbageman.
>>100207272>Why would I take the advice of someone forced to do the work of a helot?>helotThis isn't one of your stupid Jewllywood movies about ancient times, I'm a working man, not a worthless shitposting NEET like you.Being jobless actually diminishes your IQ and promotes stupidity. You'll understand after several years of working. Hell, even my older, near-retirement coworkers are still learning how we all pick up stupid ideas and stupid habits at home.
>>100200655It's basically an oven but smaller. Most modern ovens circulate air even if it's not blowing it. The main benefit is speed and the fact that it takes 2 seconds to clean. The main drawback is size (eat less fatty) and that it's only really good for frozen foods, which are mostly shitty for you. I'm going to make some fish fillets later today
i have one and barely ever use it, everything i try to make on it turns very meh.

Here in Italy, where food is sacred and fried food is taken in high regard ,especially in Southern regions, air fryers became quite a fad... Who pushed this fad in our country? I don't know. But they're fucking useless. They are essentially a miniaturized convection oven in which you put ingredients covered with oil. The only positive side is that is small and quite efficient, and probably reaches cooking temperatures quite fast. But everyone has a convection oven , and microwave combo ovens in Italy... So it's more than a novelty item. After many tries in frying, the oldest method is also the best:just use a simple small cooking pot , fill it with 1 liter of olive oil at 180 Celsius ,checking the temp.with a thermometer and dip your shrimps or fries or whatever... Perfect results
Before internet >i want to fuck toasters >dont be a fucking retard >grow upAfter internet >I want to fuck a toaster >google >find an online/social media community with 1000+ members about people wanting to fuck toasters >fuck up your life, the cops break down your door to find you fried to a crisp with your dick stuck in a toaster.
>>100200713This but there's nothing really glorified about them, it's literally a smaller, cheaper convection oven. If I'm just cooking some curly fries, guess which is more efficient. The air fryer or the convection oven with 4 racks.
>>100209898Based crispy nigga
don't most retail household builtin ovens come as convection now? There's probably an argument for power use but that can be argued against with space.I'm inclined to agree with this >>100209898guy.
>>100203569There's a difference between an electric oven and a wood or other material combustion oven. Namely, in the latter, the extra oxygen actually accelerates the reaction making more heat rather than circulating existing heat.
>>100211359ovens aren't a vacuum sealed chamber though
>>100212138No? What does that have to do with anything I said? I'm pointing out there's a difference between what happens when you direct a fan at a bunch of burning wood or charcoal and what happens when you direct it at an electric oven such as an air fryer. There's some pretty fundamental differences between a mud and brick furnace for melting metals and a convection oven.
>>100212369"I'm sorry, I didn't understand that. Could you please rephrase or provide more context?"
