Programming with Java for Banks is extremely dull; I did not pursue a CS major for this; rather I love orchestrating things, making niche yet great stuff for fun.
I'm quite sure every Java / web developer thinks the same way.
What language should we study / IT discpline should we pursue to rekindle our passion for computer science?

Ruby's entire schtick is making programming easy and fun for the programmer

Alternatively you could try something more barebones where you can learn more about how computers actually work, like 6502 assembly or something

Rust ofc

Can you make anything intersting with Ruby ?

almost everything is including sql, html + css, asm, arduino's c++, bash, windows' bash (batch or whatever the fuck it's called), powershell so that's a low bar
>>
>>100135703
Yes, and you can make something interesting in all of those.

It's almost as if it was a dumb question to begin with.

Why do so many banks still use Java? I mostly used Java from version 1.x to 8.x, then switched to C#. C# is super comfy. One of the few things Microsoft has ever done right.

it continues to just work, and there's many developers on the market

Memes aside, are there any projects worth contributing to that need rust or fields where learning rust is a great advantage? What is the job for the tool?

actually I did entirely learn coding to make java for banks because I like money

It’s more geared towards barebone stuff, like kernel programming
There’s almost non existent job offers for rust

I'm writing rust at my job and not doing meme crypto or webshit, I consider myself lucky as most rust jobs are for one of those two shits.

Here's an idea:
>3D print rover
>Mount SBC like rpi5 on it
>Have Java app drive image recognition and radar
>Have rover bring you food from grocery store
Not only fun, you'll negate your primary usecase for a car this way

Things that can leak a lot of sensitive information if compromised and that can not trade performance for safety - a lot like Ada in many ways. So browsers, networking infrastructure, things that deal with parsing lots of untrusted input, stuff like that.
To achieve this it borrows a few features from the typepilled academic languages which also make it a nice all around systems language that resembles OCaml with manual memory management.

I doubt it.

Write the missing PIM software for the Linux desktop.
Yeah GNOME and KDE have some but it really sucks so everyone just uses text files. Maybe you can do it better.
>>
>>100144226
Fun is subjective, but dynamic typing is easier. Not necessarily better, I prefer static too, but it's objectively easier.

Build it from aluminum and paint it to resemble something more like this. You could also add some bars for balance so food doesen't toss around in inclines.
