Asking Luca Turin, a biophysicist, if he likes a perfume is like asking Neil DeGrasse Tyson if he likes the movie Dune. He's a highly educated man, but his degree isn't even remotely related to the subject at hand. He's a quippy asshole and that is entertaining, but facts are facts. His opinion is no more relevant than someone like Jeremy's. In fact, he's a lot less fair than Jeremy. All Turin does is do a little spritz and jot down his immediate thoughts, which, more often than not, align with his pre-existing opinion of the house it came from. For all of his pomp and bloviating, there's no question in my mind that he wouldn't recognize 99.999% of fragrances he's reviewed over the years if he encountered them in public. Conversely, Jeremy has sniffed the neck of almost every 14 year old boy in Miami and correctly identified their fragrance with a shockingly high success rate. He clearly spends a lot of time with this shit. Plus he doesn't limit the reviews to his own subjective opinion. Sometimes he asks dumb bimbos to share their subjective opinions. Honestly, Jeremy Fragrance is, without a hint of irony, a more credible authority on fragrance evaluation than Luca Turin. Plus Turin gave Secretions Magnifique a perfect score, which is something he almost never does. I just don't trust the man very much.
>>18100912Secretions magnifique is great what are you flapping your gums about?
>>18100913You know that if you want to smell like piss and spit and cum you can just piss and spit and cum on yourself, right? It's a completely redundant purchase.
>>18100918It's a pretty inoffensive salty aquatic, you clearly haven't smelled it
>>18100921Wait, are you saying your piss and spit and cum do not smell like a pretty inoffensive salty aquatic? Are you sick?
>>18100923We're here to discuss perfume, let's not lower the tone, ok?
>>18100918It doesn't smell like piss rather than flowery scented water wipes, disgustingly metallic. Reminded me when i enjoyed cheap hookers, who doesn't bother to shower between the last and next client. But only clean they used pussy with flowery scented water wipes. So they hit the nail with secretion magnifiques, the creator literally must have experienced hookers before too.

I've noticed that lots of the fragrances that are bright and fresh, the bright fresh say citrus notes tend to go away fairly soon. Are there any good bright fresh fragrances that in the dry down still have those bright and fresh notes?

Quick reviews:>Guerlain Vetiver Parfum (2024)Shit for old people like the entire line.>Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Parfum (2024)Does nothing new. Fits right in with the line. Not bad, but not exciting either. >Guerlain Habit Rouge Parfum (2024)Actually based, although very unisex. Unlike Rouge Prive, which got hyped and then turned out to be mid, this one is actually great. Performance of the charts. Takes Habit Rouge and turns it thick and dense, albeit losing a lot of the florals/rose in the process and adding some gourmand-ish vibes, which is probably what makes it unisex. Regardless, full bottle acquired and worn multiple times already.See you in another 30 threads or so.

>>18102360Go to a store and test both. One spray on each hand and see how you like them after a few hours. I think there is a lot to be said for finding a single fragrance you like and sticking to it.

What do I do about smelling good If I'm genuinely averse to most artificial fragrances? Everything from Axe to Versace just makes me queasy.
>>18102424Anon if you are paying extra fees and customs to ship from the UK to the EU that is because of rules imposed by the EU not the UK.
>>18102401I prefer the EDP as well. I've been gifted the Elixir twice already and they're just collecting dust
>>18102360I don’t know where you live and how loud fragrances are socially acceptable there, but I personally found Sauvage Elixir kind of hard to use because it radiates so goddamn strongly. Great scent, but not necessarily very practical.Than being said, the times I’ve smelled someone using it in the public, it’s good stuff even when smelled on others, it’s just that it’s one thing to briefly catch a whiff of it in a corridor, another one to be stuck in a small conference room with someone wearing it. Probably wouldn’t enjoy the latter.EDP is IMO the most flexible Sauvage in the line.
>>18102507I don't have anything against people wearing fresh colognes to the gym but there seems to be a rise of bro dudes wearing elixir to the gym and it's brutal stuff. Elixir should only be used if you know you're going to be in an open area all night such as eating outside and the like.
>>18102497>everything from Axe to expensive Axe makes me queasy Versace isn't a house that's known for their natural smelling fragrances. I like them well enough, but it is what it is. Do you have a list of fragrances you've tried that you have had averse reactions to? If we know which ones don't work for you it will help to isolate specific ingredients that are likely the cause. But the easiest route would be to start sampling the more expensive houses as well as brands that specifically bill themselves as using naturals or mostly naturals. You'll find that almost every house regardless of price uses synthetics to some extent, but not all synthetics are created equal.

Kek, how low in the social pecking order do you have to rank in order to be paranoid about whether your cologne may or may not have a negative impact on one of your social interactions. No adult that is in a socially comfortable place would waste a second on worrying about that sort of thing.

FIRST IMPRESSION: I like the EDP better than the EDT. It still has that sweet baby powder thing that I don't love, but the lemon is much less astringent and doesn't have the wood cleaner vibe that I find extremely off-putting in the EDT. The lemon in this reminds me of Brisk ice tea. The kind that used to come in a can that you would see in pepsi machines. As it dries down the lemon fades into the background and the rose starts to peek out. So far that's my favorite aspect. It's a dry rose that you really don't find in modern men's releases. The leather is present throughout but it's a soft kind of leather. Doesn't have the cocaine vibe popularized by T*m F*rd that all modern leathers seem to want to aspire to. FIRST IMPRESSIONS VERDICT: I don't hate it as much as I hate the EDT. I think Rouge Prive will probably be my favorite from this line when I eventually track it down, but so far this one isn't hideous. Everything I hate about the EDT seems like it's been softened to tolerable levels in the EDP

>>18102564Meh, I'm not the biggest fan of Curly but I think it is inaccurate to call her a bimbo. Bimbo implies pretty, airheaded, and somewhat effetish materialism. Curly is pretty but not the either two.

>>18102578Curly is cute but she talks like Goldmember. The Dutch accent is one of the least attractive European accents to my ear. Which is strange, because when I hear Dutch people speaking Dutch it's not that bad.Dutch and English are so closely related that they're like a step and a half removed from being mutually intelligible, so I think there's some kind linguistic uncanny valley thing happening. They're accent sounds almost like it's an English dialect, but not quite. For some reason I find it unsettling.
>>18102585Yeah I'm not a fan of her accent either, but she at least does have a very good command of English.
>>18102588Yeah, which isn't surprising. Apparently Dutch is one of the the easiest languages to learn as a native English speaker and vice versa. Old English and modern Dutch are extremely closely related. German is also quite close, but Dutch is much closer.

There is nothing wrong with wearing Shalimar as a man. Fragrance doesn't have gender. Those are Jewish lies.

Just for the hell of it, I want to get a full bottle of something from Amouage.I got decants ofInterlude: Warm and pretty nice.Interlude Black Iris: The overpowering woodiness was offensive to my nose.Jubilation: Nice, but boring.Search: Does smell like a nicer version of Eau Sauvage.Reflection: Smells clean and I really like this one.Reflection 45: Smells distinctly woodier than OG and in a worse way. What other ones should I try out? I'm currently leaning on Reflection and Search.
>>18102896Royal Tobacco is great, the drydown especially once the smoky frankincense wears off a bit.
>>18102898Definitely will look into that. It's the Opus XIV, right? I tend to dislike fragrances with rose in the notes (like everything from Tom Ford), but I don't have a tobacco fragrance either, so I'm excited to try.

I feel so bad for this man. I can't even fathom how embarrassing it must be to be robes08. Seriously, I could never. Imagine using your AOL instant messenger name from 1996 as the name for your channel and not changing it in like fifteen years of making content. On top of that, he's Canadian and pronounces French words in a disgusting Quebecois dialect that makes every word sound like its being spoken by a duck. And his topic is perfume, an industry in which 90% of the merchandise is labelled in French, so there's rarely a video in which he doesn't have to rape your ears. On top of that, he's one of the old guard fragtubers and has been around longer than almost anyone else, but has to watch as noselet bimbos like Curly and Eau de Erica shoot past him in subs after making 3 videos because they have boobs and vaginas. And that would probably be fine, but he also gets mogged by the likes of GentScents, Redolessence, Chaos Fragrances and Big Black Beard Man despite having been around longer and having a collection that's just as enormous. All the poor fella can do to save face is pretend that the reason no one likes him is because Parfums de Marly is paying people to not watch his videos or something. Even Sebastian the perfume guy is ahead. Brooklyn Fragrance Lover is ahead of him and he's been dead for three years. This poor man, man.

>>18103044Every aspect of this post is dangerously based
>>18103039That's a good point. Everyone else has adapted to YouTube by making their usernames something fragrance related, and he's still using a generic name with numbers. I find the Quebecois rather cringe, like when he says "parfurr concentration." His reviews used to be good, when he was still open to designer stuff, but now he's just too pretentious, reviewing bullshit niche that no one will ever buy, save for retirees. But it's clear that he's bitter because when he stopped reviewing for a while, everyone else got huge on YouTube. His attacks on GentScents are also kind of unwarranted, because the guy seems nice, even if he is a shill for some brands, whereas Marc seems like a dickhead.
>makes zoomers and boomers piss and shit themselves so hard that fragrantica has to make a separate page for the original formula
Whoever was asking about ADG Parfum, I've been wearing it for the last 24 hours and I think my main takeaway is that it doesn't project like the original Profumo but smells 100% better. It's much more modern smelling, smoother and somehow more addictive. Definitely more summery and reminds me of sunscreen now, to some extent. I'd say it's worth the $90 you'd pay on Giftexpress vs. the $200 for Profumo.
