I'll correct myself from 99% to about 90% but the vast majority of people in these cities are not rich or wealthy and they come from common average families. No nepotism, no trust funds. Only 30% of US households earn over 100k a year, and that's not a lot if it's split between multiple children, and all that means is that both parents have average jobs and education if they are splitting finances.
