Seems like everyone and their dog is now importing and selling Chinese mini diggers.>picrel sells for $12k>small one for $4-5kSo standard retail margin of double what Cheng sells them for.Any equipmentanons have QRD on this?Should I buy temu digger for my kids?Is it gooder or worse than my woods PTO backhoe?
They are cheep, but the freight is expensive and can be complicated.
got a blackhoe, it works, it digs stumps etc but there's some pretty big limitations on what it can doif i had to choose again i'd get excavator
You'll pay more than half the price in tax and transport cost. Also good luck finding spare parts
>>2786412Enjoy an engine falure after half a year
>>2786412It's not retail margin, it's shipping costs, tax, port fees. You're likely to pay more buying from Cheng than buying from a reseller, unless you order a whole container worth of machines. I contacted Cheng a while ago, and to Europe it'd cost about 6k + VAT to buy a small 1t machine, whereas local resellers have the same shit for 5k + VAT.>>2786528>spare parts>generic engine that's used in tens of thousands of chinkshit harbor freight machines>generic hydraulic connectors and cylinders>generic tracks that every cheapo excavator uses>generic 12V switches, starter, alternator, battery???
>>2786412If you have a use for them I guess they're good for plumbing, digging fishponds, small irrigation channels and maybe a hillbilly swimming pool. The good thing is that they'll fit on any trailer rated to 1tonne which is sort of what made them popular for the trades, solo operator types. But they are super fucking gutless, like most of them are about 20hp and will struggle with big jobsDunno about reliabilityI have done a lot of fucking around with tractors, dozers and excavators to know that I really fucking HATE having to fix anything on them. I really hate hydraulic systems, fuck my life fixing some electrical gremlins, to hell with fixing tracks and god fucking save us if something shits the bed in the engine. That's just on western, name brand stuff, I could only imagine just how awful it could be under the hood of chink stuff.Just hire the damn things, if it goes to shit its someone else's problem
>>2786517>got a blackhoeKek, man it's hard to get them to do much besides fucky. Good job on convincing yours to stump.>>2786528>>2786530>spare partsit's Chinese so that means every single part is a knockoff of a western or Nipponese machine, you just need to figure out which one.
>>2786553SOVL
>>2786412Any cursory search of jewtube will show you several people who made videos about buying one and the issue is by the time you pay for that $5000 digger it's actually about $15,000 because of shipping, port fees, and customs paperwork. At that point just buy a used digger here. This only works if you're buying a couple dozen at a time to resell as economies of scale kick in.
>>2786530My friend bought one of these he paid about 5k for it. He likes it and it's kinda cool and does small things well. And the engine is just a 420cc Honda clone you can buy then from harbor freight for $350. I have the same 420cc engine on a generator.
>>2786606>by the time you pay for that $5000 digger it's actually about $15,000 because of shipping, port fees, and customs paperwork. The lil ones are between $3500-$4000 from equipment dealers in my town. I bet port fee is the same if you buy 1 or 100 of them.>>2786883>engine is just a 420cc Honda cloneI have half a dozen of these on random pumps, tillers and such. None of them needed any parts to date, even the 7 year old one that's been sitting in a field the whole time.Only issue is they are kinda gutless.
>>2787615>13hphow do make this thing chooch?LS swap?
best machine I've ever owned
>>2786412>5k for what looks like a 2.5 ton machineYeah, that's not the actual price, it's more like $12k with an EPA engine. Add shipping and customs, you're looking at $20k easy
>>2787638No joke, 24hp mower kept stalling, decided to upgrade to 75hp tractor and a batwing. Moar power.>>2787729>it's more like $12k with an EPA engine. Add shipping and customs, you're looking at $20k easyYou can buy it for $12k now from used equipment dealers. >>2787724neat
>>2786553this brought a chuckle ngl. a lot of it is true. working on heavy machinery sucks ass, because everything about it is heavy AF. unless you have an appropriate toolset, and possibly a forklift, even a common issue like reseating a slipped track becomes daunting.
>>2787745would rather get a used name brand from Ritchie Brothers.
>>2786517I did the math and adding a backhoe to my tractor was the same as a beat to hell mini excavator. I wouldn't go used to hell like I did however, I mean it still beat renting dollar for dollar but it spent a lot of time in the repair shop.>>2786412be sure you have a shop that will touch your temu digger and then either get one as your forever machine or invest in a bigger newish name brand use it for a few years and sell. the latter will cost you less than the temu in the end and you'll have a nicer tool in the middle. that's what I wish I'd done because I sold my beat to piss little bobcat for 1.5x what I paid in the first place, on account of the nearly that much in repairs.
>>2787724my neighbor has one from 1953. I prefer an excavator and a bucket on the tractor, it's so much more useful.
>>2786412Camarata got one of these and he actually likes it enough to have bought a hydraulic thumb for it.
>>2786517I dunno man, I like my backhoe. It's saved my ass a lot of shoveling. And it's easy to transport or road to where I need it. Put in a lot of culverts, Dug out a few stumps, and used it to repair many water lines. Hell I just used it the other day to repair a 12" underground irrigation line. I gotta re-seal a couple of cylinders on it though she's a bit of a leaky ol' whore right now... I also have an excavator, but haven't had a chance to use it yet because I still have the cab off of it in my shop doing body work on it. Gotta weld up the inner skin on it and paint it someday and get it all back together... Then build a thumb and start stumping trees and ripping out brush with it.
>>2787833>I did the math and adding a backhoe to my tractor was the same as a beat to hell mini excavator.Yeah I'm not giving up my 3pt backhoe.>be sure you have a shop that will touch your temu diggerYou clearly don’t know who you’re talking to, so let me clue you in.I am not in need of a shop, Skyler. I am the shop. A guy turns on his engine and hears a knock, and you think that of me?No! I am the one who knocks! This is the same argument my former HVACfag made too after quoting me $30k for a heatpump and me telling him I'll just buy th e$4500 one and install it myself.>hurr durr whatyou gonna do when your compressor dies on you????Well it did after 2 years actually, but Cheng gave me 5 year warranty on it and sent me a new one with extra 5 years of warranty.Sure I had to put in work myself to replace it, but since I neither have big boobs nor a big nose, I can't make $25k over a weekend and I'm still in the green.>>2787871>CamarataI don't know who that is, so I will assume tiktoker baiting brocolliheads.
>>2787893OP was talking about these shits you slap on your smoll nippon tractor25hp of pure 9000 times folded horse kemonos
>>2788178what about 56 Cheng HP?does it matter? are Cheng horses same?
>>2788115>I don't know who that is, so I will assume tiktoker baiting brocolliheads.Andrew Camarata is one of the only people on youtube that puts no effort into advertising, product placement, or any other retarded shit. It's all just video of his projects, shit like blasting rock faces and crushing the stone for other projects, building shit, repairing equipment, etc.
>>2788115>I don't know who that is, so I will assume tiktoker baiting brocolliheads. He's actually pretty good though of course eccentric. His container castle/workshop came out very well.
>>2789396>container castle/workshopAll right, you got me at autism castle.>>2789396
>>278836756 cheng horses is like 5.6 nippon kemonos
>>2789710I just picked up a 2004 Farm Pro 2425 off an auction. What kind of power units is it rated in?
>>2789404His actually works which is the cool part. His shop space and general layout are based.
>>2789792fuck that thing looks massive compared to my fx22d
>>2789875I dunno anon, maybe slightly bigger, and a longer wheelbase, but not much bigger than what your Fx22d looks like. This is the exact unit I just bought. Says low compression and won't start on the auction. I paid $3000 for it. We'll see if I can revive the chinese diesel in it, if not, I have a 25ish horse Yanmar out of a John Deere golf course mower that I can probably rig up to run in it! Hopefully I can get the stock engine going tough. Parts are available from what little searching I've done.
>>2789997>2004 Farm Pro 2425Godspeed anon, I was looking at it too but decided I don't want another project machine at the moment.
>>2790149The one you posted a pic of is a different machine on a different lot... Was it also for sale recently? What did it bring? I did some looking and the Koyker 160 loaders are worth around $1500 by themselves, so I don't have too much into the tractor by itself if shit ends up not worth fixing.
>>2790187Ha, it was an auction also no compression, no start.
>>2789396subbed.yeah please don't make an effort to sell me shit. use it and if it's awesome we'll figure it out.
>>2786412should I get a chin's special excavator?or a hilariously beat to shit machine off auction that looks like a meth head has been beating it with a hammer and working in a salt mine with it for 30 years for 4x the price?
>>2791136Auction is the way.
>>2791137why? because 'muh parts'?
>>2791141beaten to hell yanmar is still better than chinkshit
>>2791144so what's the beat to shit yanmar to chink machine parity?exactly how beat would a yanmar need to be to be equal to a new chink machine?
>>2791146scrap
>>2791150but the garbage being sold at auction for $20k+ is scrap when you factor in how much you need to dump into and how much down time it'll have before you can actually use it
>>2791150>>2791146Cheng's mini digger is a very simple machine. It's basically a small engine hydraulic power pack with 3 motors and 3 rams attached to it all on one circuit. It will be very easy and cheap to keep running, however Cheng being famous for QC and cutting corners. Those repairs might be quite frequent, it's a bit of a gamble.Beat to shit meth yanmar has 3 different hydraulic circuits, the pump itself costs half what you will pay for Cheng's digger from a US dealer. It's by orders of magnitude better machine, but if it craps out on you, you will be in for a price of Cheng's digger in repairs.
>>2791161that's a yanmar pump?the machine that everyone is creaming themselves over uses the same gear-type pump that chang uses? wtf?besides being 3 ports instead of 1 how is this 4-5x better then changs pump?
>>2791166Cheng has been getting betterGo with a Rippa or Infront or similar
>>2791166>that's a yanmar pump?No, that's a replacement pump made by Cheng for Yamaoka's excavator.
>>2786449why is no one making them state side if the margin is so high? labor??
>>2792155mainly the engine cost. USA has trade protectionist policies ( aka EPA standards) to prevent Cheng from dumping his diesel engines here.Cheng's diesel engine is no Kubota, but it does the job just as good at 1/10th the price
>>2792155yes, US labor is insanely expensive>>2792157chang just buys EPA engines and puts them in the diggers (like briggs and Kubota engines)it would probably be cheaper to import a kubota engine directly from japan then through chang
>>2792155There's tons of them made in the US, 5 brands I can think of at least, they're just 3x -5x what chun lis cost, and they generally have to be moved through distribution or dealers instead of direct.I haven't used the alibaba-FOB excavators before, but I have used a few of the harbor-freight-tier import brands like Jansen, and they're really not on par with things like JCB's or even Bobcats in terms of capability. Is that worth 5x the cost? probably not unless you're going some serious shit with it. 3x the cost? maybe, if you have reason to use it regularly.2x the cost used for medium hours? yeah, honestly, parts availability alone is worth that.
>>"Diggers could be here", he thought"
