It's something 4chan does on the mobile version of the site, but it used to be restricted only to a few boards until recently. You can still access the full resolution version of the files if you just go into the address bar and remove the 'm' just before the .jpg. Sometimes you'll have to change the extension as well, depending on what the original file extension is (since the resize turns every image file into a jpg), but again it's as easy as just changing the address.I'll take your storytime anyways, since it's still readable and you're not the resident shitposter. >Goes on to Xwitter>reads complaints over the green goblin seeming at all sympathetic.>Closes XwitterYou know... For the record, while it can be overdone, it can occasionally be beneficial to allow a villain to have some gray areas rather than making them so unbelievably awful that they cease to feel like real people and instead become a concentrated container for ultra evil cliches.
>>143554352I understand the feeling coming from ASM fatigue, Wells' run really stretched the humanization of Norman thin.
>>143554352>>143555058My feeling is that Norman was never a good person, given that he still did things like screw over Stromm even before his serum drove him insane...But on the other hand, he still had humanizing things about him. His fondness for Harry was sincere, if warped. He's genuinely mentally ill, not just heinous. If it weren't for the Death of Gwen Stacy and then him puppeteering everything from Clone Saga onwards on his return, he'd just be a noteworthy villain rather than 'worse than Hitler.'
>>143548194Brutal.
>>143555241Our boy Peter is finally having fun playing with the other mutates and that's what matters.
>>143554352That is some nonsense. The kind of complexity we're seeing is not necessarily moral, at least not in the sense of being "morally right." Love is a complicated emotion that might be immoral or morally neutral. The complexities of a psychotic abuser's affection do not make them any less terrifying to the sane. Because of Norman's actions, his beloved son bears significant psychological scars, and at best, his humanity is so deeply buried in his psyche that his paternal love is a neutral attribute at best. It's not like the writer is praising Norman for giving a damn about Harry.

>>143556412True, and its a shame cause it came after a fun era of married spidey dealing with having a dead kid.
>>143556616I'm exaggerating a bit; there are other writers who shared a couple of his flaws, but it has everything I dislike about modern writing: Unable to form long cohesive plots, he gave hurried and unsatisfying explanations, never resolved cliffhangers, was not big on continuity, was overly reliant on cliches, had bad dialogue, was bad at characterization, tried to undo months, years, even decades of character development and regressed everyone it touched, obnoxious men named Paul, tried desperately to replace MJ with terrible love interests, nonsense magical plots that make no sense and are out of place in the Spider-Man mythos, asspull victories for our hero that just left the reader cold, villains suddenly becoming genocidal maniacs for contrived reasons, loser Peter, tried to write MJ out, a sudden OC addition to Gwen's backstory who was never mentioned in the original stories, needs support from better writers to tell a good story, hackneyed sequels to better stories that are an insult to the original, introduced a (bad) new Spider-Person, everything takes a backseat to mindless action, and disastrously tried to retcon Chapter One as the new continuity. I know I'm missing something. It's bad from the start, and it keeps falling apart as the plot moves along. To be honest, the guy reads like an inspiration to the BND crew.

>>143548420Thanks op! I don't usually notice but is it unusual to get no letters? There's a bigger call here than in the last issue.
>>143548370All Emily needs is a mallet to break Harry's knees and to gain a few more pounds and she'd be perfect for the part of Annie Wilkes.
>>143554352They're just ignoring the part about Norman experimenting on Nels huh? Or last issue Norman was bullying Harry for almost getting kidnapped.

>>143557911That's just how it is with these people: there's no ability to look at the work as a whole. To even be a little bit generous and believe the author is trying to make a point. That the complexity might be test the moral frame work, not dismiss or undermine it. It's just a checklist of purity tests. Did the villain have a moment where they didn't come off as the most pure evil piece of shit ever? How dare the writer try to white wash them!

>>143558028Love and abusive parents are a hard limit for some fans. I can see the reasoning for it. People who abuse children are worse than scum. Still, some parents who abuse their children do so not because they don't love them. Rather, it's because they have baggage and were harmed as well and haven't healed from past traumas. Some parents are unable to raise their children in a healthy, nonthreatening manner for a range of reasons. Using the "no true Scotsman" fallacy blinds fans to the connection between personal trauma history and child abuse. It would be too simple to say that a parent doesn't love their child. It raises no concerns. The fact that so many individuals still justify certain forms of abuse despite research against certain disciplinary tactics "because mom and/or dad not like those evil caricatures I've heard about, they loved me" as a decent parenting approach shows how trauma is passed down through generations, mentally imprisoning us and enabling widespread abuse by defending parental misconduct on the basis that "abusers don't love".It doesn't immediately follow that an abusive parent isn't a right bastard just because you can demonstrate how their suffering and life lessons affected their parenting. It is merely a statement regarding the complicated nature of people..that
>>143557515Fit from that one NormanEmily pic.
>>143558744I've also seen it brought up there's a reflexive rejection of the portrayal of people who do "bad" things also doing things that the viewer thinks should be done. Because it messes up their internal view of morality: as a checklist where you do and say all the right things and thus are a good person. And, importantly, never need to worry about further self reflection. Why would you? After all, you've done the good things. A bad person never does those things, that's why they're bad.The "revelation" that even the worst people can do things you recognize as good causes an existential crisis. Cause that's not supposed to happen. After all, if a person who does X good thing can still do Y bad thing, and thus be bad, what does that say about YOU, who does X good thing? Sure you, and the people you think are good, could never be bad, right?
>>143558888Nice
I think Norman should have several ex-wives he accidentally married after his most recent mental health crisis. So like Emily is after he knocks her up and freaks out over having a baby out of wedlock (Catholic guilt hitting him hard). Gwen after the whole Harry drug use drama and he resolves that issue with a bridge yeet. Kolina after yet another "muh Peter muh Goblin" rant and he runs away from that only to have her turn stalker/cult leader on him.
>>143547963looks like read hulk.
>>143558744Every time Norman's mistreatment is mentioned, I'm reminded of how Norman effectively endorsed Amberson's handling of him. That, in my eyes, is crucial to any conversation about how he is presented as a parent. Norman has never felt that Amberson is weak or incompetent due to Amberson's unacceptable conduct toward him and his mother. Instead, Norman's father was not a man since he never achieved that cherished financial security. He's given himself something emotionally "safe" to be upset about in relation to his father. That point of reasoning is consistent with the rationalization that Amberson previously employed. Like many children who experience abuse, Norman internalized the message sent by his abuser—including the implicit belief that he deserved to be mistreated. In his scenario, it was "because he was weak." Tragically, for poor Harry, he took his father's lessons in cruelty and applied them to his own child when he eventually became a parent. Norman's backstory is obviously not an excuse for the abuse. Norman was wealthy and had the option to break the cycle and choose to use therapy to unlearn those damaging lessons he was taught as a child. However, I think it's an intriguing perspective that is more nuanced than abuse typically receives.>>143559078I blame Disney. Some people need villains to be black and white at all times and if you give them a little complexity they either think the villain was secretly right the whole time or accuse the author of supporting the villain over his victims. Both groups can be utterly insufferable in their moral grandstanding.
>>143558888I am always shocked how good Harry's features look on a woman.

>>143557248>>143556928When was his run? They were trying to break up Peter and MJ before BND?

>>143562113>LokifagsNorman can only take so much blame for his adult son; in the end, the acts Harold committed to harm Peter were his own. I find it a little annoying when people occasionally bend over backwards to excuse Harry's transgressions, but The Harry fans are not that bad yet.

>>143565263I love whenever he posts that page, because it's like>look at this silent character moment that tells so much about Norman's mental state!and he expects us to start screaming and sneeding instead of thinking it's based and yet another reason why Norman is the GOAT (of ignoring his mental health issues, among other things)
>>143565723Peter isn't strong because he can completely disregard her anxiety and exhibit no weakness; rather, he is strong because he battles his own fears and demons in a sympathetic manner and develops as a person by revealing vulnerable moments to others. In combat, if he is afraid, he fights inside himself to overcome that fear and continue fighting. Pete battles valiantly to face his inner fears and convinces himself that he is strong enough, even when he's weak. This conveys significantly more strength and potential as a person to the rea and is infinitely more appealing to them than the character fighting with a perpetual air of grim, stoic badassery and having nothing intriguing to say or reflect on in the process. Because he can overcome vulnerability, Spider-Man is a capable person. In this scene, the green goblin embodies a similar idea. Rather than being a strike against the character, it's intriguing character writing to see the self-assured and narcissistic Norman Osborn susceptible to human weaknesses like grief.

>>143568261Blaming the cancer patient is pretty hard for me too. The guy was on pain meds. Editorial should have stopped shit instead of encouraged it.
>>143568413>Erm, ASM being shit is actually okay because chartsSlott, lay down the burger
>>143568440It's funny because USM is HIGHER in the charts and that is all the suits up top are supposed to give a fuck about. It doesn't matter if a profit is made when MORE POTENTIAL PROFIT can be reaped! That's the Dario Agger way! That's the DISNEY way!
>>143567784>>143568261>>143568429I'm assuming the guy who posted here about Mackie having cancer back then may have been an actual Marvel insider to have known all that, IIRC he claimed a lot of the books back then that were credited to Mackie were actually ghostwritten by other people, which makes it even harder to blame him for any of it. And things like Sandman becoming a villain again are entirely on Byrne.
>>143568440I don't know why people keep buying. Editorial literally mocks their consumer base's loyalty.
>>143568413Personally, I think ASM's fate has already been sealed by USM's sales. Marvel's higher ups aren't going to be content with it "selling well" when they could be making even more off of it.
>>143569327That's what's got people like Dan so upset. The rubes prefer the better brand, and eventually the money people are going to ask 'hey, what if ASM sells better if we make it more like USM?'And it pisses off people like Dan Slott or CB Cebulski or everyone else from Quesada's old cult off because for all that they pretend they're sober and gray-suited businessmen making the hard choices to ensure profit, the real truth is that they're even worse than the 'toxic fans' they constantly decry and are really willing to sacrifice any amount of money to get to feel superior while promoting their preferred headcanons. They'll probably never forgive USM for doing so well, and they'll probably never forgive the fans for preferring it. Their masks are slipping, which is why Dan Slott went from 'savvy business insider' to 'put upon salaryman' in the span of a single post. No serious corporate ghoul would ever say 'it's doing WELL ENOUGH so it doesn't need to do even better, guys!' but that's seriously Dan Slott's argument with this one.
>>143569428I don't think that they're going to be cancelling ASM. But they're scared shitless that the suits up top will start to ask 'Hey, could we sell more ASM books by undoing One More Day? Let's try that!'
>>143569522Oops. Meant to say OMD's fate.
I'm nowhere near as confident that Marvel will bring back the marriage but undoing the deal with Mephisto would be a nice start.
>>143569729Undoing the deal with Mephisto would bring the marriage back.
>>143569759The powers that be would invent some bs legal Marvel universe loophole to make the marriage no longer legally binding and Peter and MJ would, for whatever reason, decide not to be remarried.
>>143569816There are no powers that be. Slott made up that term so he could pretend that some mystical cosmic force is keeping OMD from being undone. Besides, the deal was the marriage for Aunt May's life. It can't get more clear cut than that.
>>143569816I can totally buy the weasels doing that. They'd sell it as a huge event and get everyone excited then pull a shocking swerve at the last second.
>>143569848The 'powers that be' are the real life uber lords that run Marvel.
>>143569893I don't think any writer is going to be willing to take a hit akin to Tom King screwing up the BatCat wedding to their reputation.
>>143569927Nah. It's a made up term that Slott uses when things don't go his way.
>>143569929It's a big business. They'll find someone. Even if they have to pull some random sycophant off the street.
>>143569947I used it to refer to the big bosses. >In idiomatic English, "the powers that be" (sometimes initialized as TPTB) is a phrase used to refer to those individuals or groups who collectively hold authority over a particular domain.
>>143569967I don't think they will. OMD being undone is the most anticipated story of all time and they know it. If they screw it up then ASM is never going to see those coveted long-term USM-esque sales.
>>143570011You mean like Dan Buckley? From what I have heard he was against OMD and Quesada had to go over his head, to Ike Perlmutter, in order to make it happen.
>>143569848There are, its just breevort.
>>143568413>Meanwhile usm is outselling asm more than 2:1 and gets constant reprints.

>>143570071Brevoort no longer has any say in what happens to the Spider-Man books. Why do you think Buckley shipped him to the X-Books? It wasn't because Brevoort is a good salesman who gets results.
>>143570093He still claims credit so i believe him. He's the closest to a power that be that is at marvel now.
>>143562431>Norman just wanted all of those big strong tough manly macho men to want himWhat did the Green Goblin mean by this.
>>143570159Buckley is the only one who matches that description and Brevoort can't go against him. It's as simple as that.

>>143547963Bulp
>>143570316Norman longs to connect with respected peers, yet he won't engage in social interactions or make the effort to build friendships with people in his social group. Norman finds it painful to be by himself, yet he becomes envious when he is with other people. He would much rather avoid emotional pitfalls and try to numb himself than deal with them. Gobby presents a classic example of the hedgehog's dilemma: while Norman craves intimacy and connection, his real fear is vulnerability, and creating those ties and exposing himself to weakness is an agonizing process. Rather than engaging in activities that would actually make him happy, Norman finds himself locked up with his unhelpful coping mechanisms.

You people truly are pathetic you act like a alternative universes means something but in reality they mean shit since none of them really last for long. It will be no different with USM oh yeah sure right now it's a hot book but that means nothing since it won't be around forever idiots like you seem to forget that.

>>143591117>GWEEM GWOBWIMI'm just imagining a universe where Peter had a lisp and whenever he fights Norman, the latter has to take a moment at the start to get his giggles out because of the way Peter says his villain name (he naturally fights him like normal since it's still Spider-Man)

>>143591289>Yeah, your posts are too. But imagining them read out loud by Peter Cook is great.are you a fucking idiot cut the spam.
>>143591304I'm not the one doing it. But it's cool how it makes you mad while also making your actual posts shorter and way more brief.By all means post something more detailed. Preferably a post were you say you wish to be taken *seriously* or feel that posting on /co/ is not a right but a *privilege* therefore it's wrong to spam. I'd be extremely greatful if you used those words specifically or just typed out 'he sells seashells by the seashore' or something.
>>143591304Copying what your enemies say with a funny lisp to mock them is absolutely a very Spider-Man move.>>143591208Norman has to somehow counter with an even funnier lisp of his own.
>>143548182>i didnt take on a new persona when i became Spider-Man>i just acted less awkward and cooler than when i wasnt Spider-ManLmao who writes this shit
>>143591447>Norman has to somehow counter with an even funnier lisp of his own.Ben Reilly and Kaine in the background wondering what the fuck is going on.What I'm saying is that it's a shame we never got a Parker Triplets book, and it'd be fresher than Zeb Wells retreading things like "Peter screwed up a date because he was busy being a superhero" for the millionth time like in the FCBD issue.Maybe if we're good, Hickman will give us a Clone Saga arc. Or maybe a better Superior Spider-Man arc given 6160 Ock's already terrifying resemblance to Ditko era Peter Parker.
>>143591650It honestly feels very deliberate.
>>143591632It's nothing new, and it's been around for ages. Kraven's Last Hunt practically revolved around the idea.
>>143591687>>143591650I honestly would like an arc where Octavius doesn't hijack 6160 Peter's body, but does finagle a way to give himself Spider Powers while copying the costume.
>>143591741I don't think Hickman is going to do his own take on Superior, supposedly he wasn't very happy with Slott when he did that because it meant not being able to write Peter during his Avengers run.
>>143590875Jannies take note, lisp-posting works. Trust the system.>>143591715Tbh Peter doesn't change into some other guy when he puts the mask on. He just looses his inhibitions and talks and acts much more freely.
>>143591980There have been little dicks at mainline 616 here and there. It honestly sounds like Hickman's biggest issue wasn't the fact that Ock became Spider-Man, so much as Ock hijacked Peter to do it.Letting not-Ditko-Peter Ock be Spider-Man *at the same time* as Peter will sidestep the thing people most disliked about the original Superior run.
>>143592025I still want my 616 Ock as asshole Spider-Hero book
>>143592034He's got so many clones already, Ock should just bully Jackal into making him one.
>>143561873Disclaimer: I neither like nor ship the Norman and Gwen couple. Clones still matter and I like them.
>>143592034It's why I think Ock's resemblance to Ditko Peter is so deliberate.Hell, the Ditko era really was Peter at his most flawed and petty too, and it was really great. Everyone was an asshole during that era, so it made Peter lashing back at them feel entirely reasonable and understandable.
>>143591289You are the idiot who began the spam with posting pics of gwen's death not me.

>>143593149You didn't answer the question dumbass
Running out of things to post are oh what a shame.
Yes nothing to post left by the looks of things poor spider fags.
>>143593203Sorry, I was thinking about Peter's other great clone, CAVE PAWKO
>>143593149Desu Sinister being the one responsible for Clone Saga in Spider-Man '98 would be really good and have good crossover potential, especially since there's no Gwen or Jackal in that continuity.
>>143593149If I were I would be more worried about this. You do realize of course thst there is a high possiablity possibility that mysterio could have fucked MJ while she was place under hypnosis. He could have made himself appear as peter to MJ without her knowing the difference. now imagine the shock and horror of fans if they made that canon.
>>143593315That still doesn't answer the question.
>>143593334Miles Warren literally was the one who made clones of Hydroman and hydroMJ there. And Ben Reilly in Spider-Carnage's dimension. He exists, just isn't a furry.

>>143594132Cute but sad>>143594119Homage to 1610 issue 2 but I never really liked the plain black prototype suit. Could use more white like the original Black Suit.
steven butler. homage to that scarlet spider pose
Alas, Ben Reilly- what is this strange path they’ve put you on? I’ve drawn hundreds of Ben Reilly as Scarlet Spider commissions, and even Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, but this right here is the first commission I’ve ever done of Ben Reilly as the new villain Chasm. The thing is, I actually really enjoyed doing it, even though I’m not completely sold on the idea of Ben as a villainous bad guy- maybe Marvel is playing the long game with him and will give him a redemption arc in the future- and then again—- maybe not. Anyway, here’s my version of Chasm-
>>143594185Tbh I’m fine with BED WIDEWEE keeping Chasm, just being a good guy.His think could be dealing with supernatural fuckery now. His atonement for his brief villain phase is having to tard-wrangle Rek-Rap now and then.
>>143594214nooooo get him out of that ugly thing and give him his bike back
>>143594440He could get Ghost Rider’s bike and fight demons from hell!
The funniest part of lisp-posting at the schizo, aside from the fact that it made him angry enough to leave, is that his mastery of English is so sub-par that he can’t even do it back it back to people no matter how much it annoys him.
>>143594453Ghost Rider Spider-man? Where did I hear this one before?>>143594493You're the hero we need but don't deserve, gwenschizoschizo.

>>143587820>Pity that misty and danny broke up.Again? What's wrong with Marvel?
