That would be the V of V case. This could very well be a new historic cycle, so that would make the current move I of V, or instead of starting the count in the 70s, one could start the count in 2000 which would make the current move the 1 of 5 in a III of V

The peak of /smg/ was when Charlie Munger would regularly post here. We had access to the man himself and got legit information from the top. This is a new age; one of enlightenment and honesty.
>>
What are we expecting for earnings this week?
>>
Is nvda a bad buy right now? I'm just learning stocks but isn't it way iverpriced? P/E of like 50
means investors are speculating that its earnings are gonna grow like 10x in the near term to be worth holding over anything else, doesn't it? Earnings is already being boosted by AI boom, I doubt that it can continue so far as to support the stock price predicting a further ten times boost and we saw how sensitive it is to dropping due to other market and economic factors this month
>>
>>58435445
I guess 10x is a huge exaggeration but still, it needs to grow like 100% to match the price, and if I want a meaningful profit after selling it needs to grow an extra like 20%. Or I can bank on it continuing to be overpriced relative to its earnings but it seems unlikely
>>
>You see, the problem with the P/E ratio is that it's a retroactive metric. It pits a company's current market cap against its trailing-12-month profit. But when you buy shares of a company, you're not purchasing its history -- you're purchasing its future cash flows.

in some book i also read that p/e is useless.
>>
Smg has never been deader
>>
>>58435646
p/e used to be useful way back when it was first "developed" by robert schiller if im not wrong? a bunch of people start using it and it becomes less useful, but not completely useless. p/e averages for industries and compared to respective stocks can give you some insight into company valuation, and it inherently separates stocks you're buying on a premium and i use to get a quick and fast impression whether a stock is growth stock. alongside the quote you pulled out, of course

how did you get your investing style??

i have to say livermore my biggest influence. then another technical style as a system for me.

got a few more books about livermore to read.
>>
one of my positions made a huge dump....

i almost tightened my stop too earlier.... too big risk on this trade if my stop gets hit.
>>
>>58436456
I got it by trading a metric fuckton. One year my tax documents said I moved about 2.5 million worth of money total (not that I had it, but that combined transactions added up to that amount).
Doing that kind of trading will teach you a lot of lessons. It taught me that your outlook needs to be further out, that you should always have a plan and stick to it. Set some rules, write them on a piece of paper if you have to, and check them before you EVER click a button.
The only times I have ever, truly gotten completely blown the fuck out were when I didn't follow my own rules.
>>
>>58436483

No, I only read stuff like investopedia, wikipedia on various economic theories and mathematical descriptions of Black-Scholes, etc. I've never read a financial book.
Doesn't meant they can't be useful, but in general, in my opinion, most finance people are hacks or salesmen. That is to say, they're selling you their method, their personality, or their ETF to try to get you to spend money on courses, books, or whatever.
Its for this reason I put most of my trust in methods only. Just about the only things I really believe in are resistance, support, volume, and a few indicators like RSI. Everything else is just trying to find the truth by looking at shadows on the cave wall. You might learn a bit, but there's always a lot of truth left out.

Either them or IKBR, still deciding.

Dont think it really matters. They just have some promo that gives you a free approx 2% on your initial deposit. https://support.tastytrade.com/support/s/solutions/articles/43000678965 . Which given current interest rates isnt much, but extra cash is extra cash right.

Banks are getting close to topping out their ability to leverage up on the Yen Carry Trade. Theyve been using this trade to short the everliving fuck out of Vol. However this trade is becoming less and less effective as time goes on. That was so dumb. I bought 3 SPY calls knowing it will go back up after JPOW. Only to be cucked at the end real bad there. I'm not worried though since it will be back to normal by next week. I just wanted to have the money now to make other moves.
Also, SBUX is super cheap now. I don't give a shit if they say that it did bad Q1. I still bought 15 calls for next month knowing I'll make some money out of it too. I know the women and homo's will continue buying the stock to get it back up to what it used to be.

I don't think anybody knows whats going to happen this election, I say both administrations have their own strategy to develop our economy and they both work in their own ways. There will be winners and losers on both sides, and ultimately it's a collective personal decision.
>>
>>58443906
Butttt.... I will support wholeheartedly whoever is elected as the president of the united states, and I think we've lost respect for the office as a nation. Once the election is over, that's our leader, and we need to work as best as we can within the law to support our nation together. As team USA, not team Dem or Repub. We've been a divided nation for too long. We ask our leaders to put aside their differences but when we meet someone who didn't vote for our current leader we hurl insults. I have no clue how we got here but it's dysfunctional. For optimal gains we have to be all in on whoever is elected, and pass effective legislation as a nation. Work out our problems locally. And love our neighbors.
