His gimmick was whiny indy darling and nothing more. Many guys since have had that gimmick, but were also better workers. Punk was never that good in the ring and he would be far worse 7 years post quitting. Then there's the UFC losses and other physical challenges hurting him. He was never the superstar Rock and Austin were and never developed recognition to the level Rock and Batista did outside of the business.Decent shoot promo, but there are others who can do that on the roster, and he wasn't much else. Was never pushed hard enough to leave a resounding impact. A couple of years after he left he would have garnered a pop. 2021? I don't think the care factor would be there.
