Maybe Savage just didn't want to go back? Lanny Poffo said they had tried to get Savage into the Hall of Fame for years. He either demanded they also induct Lanny and their father Angelo or refused them outright. The only reason he got in at all is because the decision fell on Lanny after Savage died. He made really crazy money for almost a decade and was equally notorious for being cheap and prideful. Savage could have easily lived out the rest of his life on the money he made and have no need or desire to ever interact with anyone from the WWF again.
