Hopefully it’s really good. I like his music, and I feel like he’s very talented, but nothing he’s made has really stood out to me, or stuck.

What about Legends Never Die, the song specifically?

There has never been a popular music artist who didn't have a gimmick.

Let's look at the favorite herald of "real artists" to the casual rock fan for example, Nirvana. People will claim they brought rock back to just being about music and no gimmicks or fashion, but that couldn't be farther from the truth, the gimmick of Nirvana is that they're dissaffected sad guys who wear bummy clothes. There is a concept that is "Nirvana" and anything they would do or wear has to fit in with that concept, it's a gimmick as much as anything else.

I just finished my second Faber book -- I also finished my first sight-reading book.

I have C, F, G, D -- as well as Am, Dm, Em.

Where do I go from here? I have been playing for about 250 days. Less than a year.

Just play -- only classical, really.
>>86051293
The keys in which the songs are written.
I know how chords are constructed, inversions, etc.
>>86051348
At least an hour a day. I practiced for 2 today -- snow day. At whatever time.
>>86051414

keep it up, OP. Sounds like you're doing pretty good. I'd try some Bach, maybe the inventio in F major or one of the 9 or 6 little preludes.

Get the sheet and practice reading separate hands first a few times without stopping, at a very slow tempo keeping it as even as possible. Be patient and take whatever time you need to do this, just make sure you get from beginning to end in one run. Do this with more sheets, even if you don't intend to study the piec6, just to excercise sight reading.

After a few reads, start learning the song, separate hands first, then joined hands. Do it very slowly, be very mindful of the fingering you choose, try not to change it, think ahead and don't rush on trying to make it sound like the record.
>>
>>86052240
Also, Bela Bartok's Microcosm are great books. You can use those pieces for sight reading too. I'd to choose the easiest ones and transpose them to the keys that I know, from the lesser known to very known.

Alternatively, learn new keys using scales, arpeggios and inversions as you've been doing.

and last but not least, even most...

Get a teacher, correct technique and guidance are two essential things that one cannot get by oneself when learning music. Even if you just want to play as a hobby, you want to do it right. Right is the only way when practicing piano. The more you do it right, the more rewarding ot is. Otherwise, frustration and injuries ensue....

Pretty great album, but not at all AOTD material. Pic related is in the running for my AOTD - hits a perfect middle ground between Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and Bon Iver. Stunning album.

I recognize that this is King Gizzard's best album on a technical level, but it isn't nearly as much fun to listen to as their other material like Mind Fuzz, Nonagon, or MOTU.

Its amazing live, though.

essential white rap albums?

Slug is only like a quarter white. Not sure what Ant''s race is, but Spawn has to be at least half black. Overcast is hardly a white album.

My favourite is easily I'll Sleep When You're Dead by EL-P

Iceage and Shame

CHON is the only guitar based, rock-related band worth seeing in the entire lineup. The absolute state of rock.
>>
>>86051795

Janelle Monae, Kero Kero Bonito, Tame Impala, Weezer, Mac Demarco, Ty Segall, CHVRCHES, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Pusha T, Perfume

are at least worth seeing, but honestly only Tame Impala and Ty Segall are the only ones worth getting excited about
