If this was a linear game you would still just go from city to city without logn ass travel times. You simply don't understand how any of this works. A game that tries to retardly simulate real travel is usually a game all about only that. Most single player games just load on level to the next and say you traveled there. Oddyssey at the very least makes you consider your route, because some areas have far stronger enemies around and getting to certain island requires you to pass through contested waters.

I remember trying to get to a hidden tomb and encountering 3 mountain lions who tried to fuck up Kassandra for no reason. Only to run into a bandit group going back to their camp. Said camp was fortified and had even more caged lions in it. That was just because I was trying to take the fastest route to the tomb. Not perilious enough? Mercenaries can spawn out of every bush or barrel on your path to get your bounty. At sea there are also bad weather phenomena.

Anyway, I know you will say something retarded about how it has to be handcrafted or some shit where Kassandra has to spend 6 in-game hours collecting firewood to survive a night in a cave, because of bad weather. No thanks, games are supposed to be fun.
