I totally get where you're coming from, I also get a little nervous around large animals especially since I'm not close to them frequently and never worked with them. All of the horses were in pens except for two that were wandering outside the front of the house, and those 2 were so chill and docile, they just stood around and watched us and occasionally nuzzled my arm to ask for pets. We went into one of the pens that had moms and foals in it, which I assume could make them a bit more aggressive and territorial, but they just kept their distance and didn't bother us (although that may have been because it was feeding time). If you came to Mare Day I don't imagine you'd have to get too close to any of the horses or go in the pens with them if it made you uncomfortable, but from what I've seen all of the horses were chill and friendly, and the rescue is in a super nice and quiet spot. I'd highly recommend coming to check it out, obviously no one's gonna force you but I don't want people missing out on what should be a super fun day after the con.
