Post games that push their consoles' capabilities as hard as possible. Don't argue about whether the games are good or not, I just want to admire audio-visual spectacle.
>>
For Gamecube I guess F-Zero, Star Fox Adventure and those exclusive Star Wars games.

Any of the 3D GBA games like Driv3r, Super Monkey Ball Jr. and that one Asterix and Obelix game.

Ocarina of Time really pushed the entire medium forward. It hasn’t been topped.

Perfect Dark can drop below 10FPS pretty regularly and really pushes the N64. It probably should have been a GameCube game.

Most of the game is average but I have always been impressed how much scrolling the savanna level of Jurassic Park has

What about games that pushed too hard and probably would have been better pulling back a little.

That's a chip game. It's not pushing anything because the whole game is just rendering on the chip and using the SNES as a passthrough.

I wonder if they did the geometry duplication trick to generate the outline or some obscure black magic. I have a hard time trying to see if the outlines have wires with the interlacing this game has.

>>
>>10924915
That annoys me too. If your game uses an extra CPU in the cartridge, which Star Fox, Yoshi's Island, etc. do, then that's not the same as pushing the console's base capabilities.

Picrel is a game without any expansion chips that I think does a good job of pushing the SNES's capabilities.
>>
>>10925116
Too bad the Japs hated the Xbox. Fucking webs.
>>
>>10926103
Stupid fags. That is like saying PC games of that era aren't good because you don't have the right equipment like proper video cards etc.

At least it exists. Imagine if they didn't put extra chips in there, the game itself would never exist with the same type of gameplay and features. You would have had to wait for the next gen of consoles to even play it as a result.

I am glad they did.
>>
>>10926734
A PC game that requires a new fancy graphics card but barely exploits it certainly doesn't push the hardware to its limits.
>>
>>10926740
Dude, what I am saying is what else could they do? They could have taken the Sega route and forced add on hardware. But all they did was add a chip onto the game itself. I think it's a win win no matter what.

To be fair, only Super Mario World 2 is decent. Original Starfox is awful with frame rate. Most other games that used it were gimicky. But goddamn SMW2 is fantastic. Any fag that says otherwise should be shot.
>>
>>10926782
I'm not saying you're not allowed to add hardware to a cartridge but the point of the thread clearly seems to be about games that exploit the existing hardware to the fullest.

You wouldn't post 32x games here and claim they pushed the Mega Drive to its limits.
>>
Remember to always ignore chip whiners
>>
>>10926782
>SMW2 is fantastic.
but it's not an impressive demo of the super fx 2
>>
>>10926103
I disagree. It's still running off the hardware and has to go through that.

Pic related is the most impressive Mega Drive game. It's a Mega Drive game because it's running off the hardware, after all. Simply amazing that the Mega Drive could do nearly PlayStation levels of 3D at surprisingly smooth framerates, and well ahead of anything the SNES could do.
