Flashbacks or hints to a past encounter between him and Trigger. They fight, but unwilling to destroy Trigger when Barrel gets the upperhand, he manages to put him into a sleep mode state, while Barrel destroys a part of him that makes Elysium think he was destroyed in the conflict.Barrel wanders the Earth, aging, finds Roll's parents who maybe uncovered the remains of Trigger that Barrel hid, Reaver bots assigned to guard the area kill them, Barrel adopts Roll and recovers the fully reset Trigger and Data.

Just hold the shoulder button, aim and shoot, it killed everything including Juno.I think the reason they made Circle Strafing an official thing in the second game is specifically so they could design around it, because it beat EVERYTHING in the first game. The second iteration of the formula; Misadventures of Tron, also had circle strafing wrecking every enemy and boss, but they designed arenas to be narrower and more claustrophobic to keep it from being the be-all-end-all. So they were aware it was a problem even before 2 came out and were likely tweaking things so some enemies could at least counter it effectively.

I would have loved a Legends prequel game, maybe done 2D, that showed the MegaMen of Elysium as angel type protectors and intermediates between the mortals(carbons) and gods(humans).I can picture a intro stage where you land in a ice covered valley, going out to destroy Reaver bots that have gone haywire or some other anchient threat of the Reploid Wars that has been killing off cavemen carbons, only for them to all begin worshiping you as some divine being sent by the gods. Maybe each stage follows a different MegaMan in a different point in history as Carbons repopulated the planet, dive into the intents of the Makers as they slowly die out, have the final stage be Trigger's escape from Elysium.
