Ok so years ago i setup and arcade machine that was run with a raspberry pi 3b model and a loaded microsd card i bought off ebay. Well fast-forward to now i only have the sd card, the cabinet but not the pi, i have no idea where it is. Can i buy a newer model pi and have the sdcard and the version of retro pie work on it or do i have but the same pi 3b? Im a layman to their architectures/ os so im really asking if the newer pi would be compatible with the older card/os/framework? Sorry if i cant articulate any better than that
you're better off just starting from scratch. either pick up a newer pi or a secondhand mini pc. if you want to straight up re-use the SD card without doing anything though, you WILL need to get the same pi (or at least a similar spec one). the system image will likely refuse to boot if you try to start it with significant hardware differences
>>10874870Ok thanks i figured id have to replace the pi with the exact model. Appreciate you extending your knowledge
>>10874823Just pay the extra $5 for an SD card configured and full of games when you buy your new memeberry
Naw fug yall im just gonna buy a pi3 of ebay for cheap, crap advice
/vr/ is gonna be so pissed at me after this weekend.
>>10874823They won't be compatible with a newer pi because of drivers but you can just grab a compatible image off arcadepunks and flash it into the cardHint: every eBay SD card is just some random arcadepunks image
