What makes The Strike Series so badass?
youre in an attack helicopter..... blowing shit up raining down lead and death. I mean the only more badass thing you could do is a barrelrow/fly upside down and mow down a bunch of people turning them into paste. You ever see a video of someone getting wasted from helicopter blades its the funnist shit ever, hell most the time they walk into not using their fucking head. Attack helicopters are metal as fuck shame we will never see them in use like in NAM ever again.
>>10857789I like Jungle Strike more than Desert Strike. I like the variety of unique missions
This game gives me Hot Shots vibes
>>10857789It was the only non-arcade game on the genesis.
Honestly wish the Strike series would make a comeback. Do you guys consider games like Army Men Air Attack worthy Strike clones?
>>10857903Army Men Air Attack is very easy compared to the Strike games. You can get your feet wet with those then jump into Strike in which you have fuel management and many missions to complete on a map.
>>10857801The Army is already planning on phasing out the Apache completely. Sadge.
>>10857903Apparently there was a fan made clone of the game. I have no idea if it's any good
>>10857923The future is starting to look so fucking lame
>>10857789Being a one-copter-army for sure.Less known Seek and Destroy was also cool for it's time.
>>10857789The only one I like is Future Cop neé Future Strike. I don’t enjoy the strict resource management of the Genesis games. Also enjoyed Future Cop’s multiplayer on PS1 with my brother, which recently surprised me to learn was the first or near-first MOBA.
>>10858120The management system isn't that bad. You usually have enough supplies on the map. You just need to plan ahead and be careful I like it because it keeps the tactical strategy part of my mind active without overbearing me. I usually have tons of crates I never used by the time I'm finished with the level. Same with the copilot system which adds a little bit of an RPG element without going all the way. I never played Future Cop. I have no idea how related it is to The Strike Series beside it originally going to be a strike game. Aren't you in a robot mec
What the fuck was Jungle Strike thinking with this useless weapon?
>>10857890Whatever makes you feel better pal.
>>10858262Is this anything like the Game Boy TNG game?
>>10858185I’d be much happier just doing missions like a top-down Rogue Squadron. As for Future Cop, it is a top-down vehicle shooter with objectives. Circle-strafing and controlling distance are still the core components of combat. The levels are smaller and you are in a transforming car-mech at ground level, not flying above. There are boss battles. There is no time-based resource like fuel.
>>10858057Has anyone played this?
Helicopter bump
>>10858247it seems to work better on genesis than on snes. You can take out a sub with one of them on genesis pretty much. On snes when you see a sub it's often stopped moving so they're useless
>>10858057>>10858408no but I think it's available somewhere. The guy was a student working on it for a few years at the same time with some other people but he seemed to go quiet a few years ago so I think it's unfinished. See description in video herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjDzfuQxZAo
>>10858247>>10858784This. It works on subs and the smugglers in that one mission where they travel a predetermined path.
>>10858789https://www.dropbox.com/s/y5lj0vtuzs3nfyj/Alligator_Strike_Demo1.2_win.rar?dl=0I found a demo
Bounce
>>10857789played Jungle Strike on Genesis, loved Jungle Strike on Genesis, simple as.
>>10858120Indeed, the mode was the direct inspiration for StarCraft’s Aeon of Strife map, which in turn inspired DotA. Additionally, although I don’t remember where I found this, apparently Future Cop’s devs were inspired by Herzog Zwei for the mode, coming full circle.
>>10857789I fucking love this seriesthe best ones are probably jungle strike and soviet strike
>>10859915Based Jungle Strike bro. Desert is good but I love Jungle way more. I love the maps
I always thought that Thunderstrike and Fireblade were part of the series as a kid. I know the latter isnt, but is the former?
>>10860652neither one arethe series goes: desert/jungle/urban/soviet/nuclear/ and then future cop LAPD(if you count it)
>>10858120Future Cop is my favourite game on the PS.
I completed Desert Strike, Urban Strike and hell, Red Zone on Megadrive/genesis back in the day but Jungle Strike always kicked my arse.
For me, it's Super Strike Trilogy on SegaCD
You guy's wanna watch an LP of this together?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2ei-0etF-0&ab_channel=OREOCookie
>>10857789My first Strike was Urban Strike bros, was I too late into the Strike scene?
>>10861042So thats how it goes. Alright.I think ill just consider the other two their cousins then.
>>10861941Sadly, yes.. Strike is just so much cooler if you actually played it while this guy was active.
>>10863278You actually play as the real villain in Jungle Strike. You save Bill Clinton and then later on stop the CIA and IRS from being blown up. Imagine thinking that you're the good guy for "saving" the IRS.
>>10863493Save it? You can actually blow up the IRS yourself and get points and I think a 1-Up for it.
>>10860637>>10859915I hate all the "go back and forth from the enemy base back to the friendly base to rescue 16 soldiers" missions in Desert.
>>10863493Kek you can blow up so many buildings but trying to blow up the IRS is impossible. I don't think I'm the only player who tried
>>10863652Are you sure? What verison? I played the SNES and I couldn't blow it up
>>10863814It was the Genesis version, and I definitely remember blowing it up and getting a point bonus for it at the tally screen.
>>10863719they went away from that in the sequels
I found it hard to make out what was happening in Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike, those early 3D models were hard to make out in that resolution.
>>10863278He looks like South Park Saddam here.
>>10863901Wait, really? That's awesome!
>>10863814I looked into it some more. Apparently, none of the D.C. landmarks can be destroyed by you in the SNES port, which unfortunately includes the IRS Building. Likely one of those weird censorship moments that all the SNES ports got.
>>10857789Did you ever play it with the action replay and just waste motherfuckers with missiles all day?
>>10865476>Likely one of those weird censorship moments that all the SNES ports got.hah, so its censored even worse than we already knew it was.>shitty music>no torture in the intro>can't blow up American buildings
>>10866026There's also Urban Strike's SNES port removing the entire cutscene of Malone firing his superweapon on New York City.
>>10857789were these like the Call of Duty of their day?
Remind me which ___ Strike game was the one that predicted 9/11?
>>10867510urban strike
Bamp
>>10866357No, games still felt like games back then.it was more of a "oh they made a third strike game? neat!"
>>10857923>ValorThey're not named helicopters after indian tribes anymore?
>>10857789I could never get past like 5 minutes in this game before getting blown up.
>>10868964If you play the Genesis game hold down the hellfire missiles button to strafe. On the other hand it seems like strafing is slow in Desert Strike. Another great tactic is to fly by heavy hitters that fire rockets/missiles to bait out an attack and stop to aim while they're in their reloading phase. Usually you'll fly past them and while doing so turn and drift while they're firing so by the time they fired you have you're sights lined up to unload onto them. Be very generous with gunfire, and generous with rockets. This is an important thing to know, people you onboard into your chopper can be dropped off at landing zones and they will give you armor back.
>>10868928That's hecklin not cool. We have to do better
>>10868964Depends on which game. Desert Strike SNES seems to give you a pretty fast strafing speed. Jungle Strike on the SNES completely changes the controls and give you really slow strafing speed but the enemies in Jungle are more machine gun base which means they're hard to dodge but they also turn much slower so it's best to fly by launching rockets or hydros and then turning around and flying over them again
>>10857789SGR did a good vid on the Strike series; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMXuNeSjuoM
>>10863493As other anon said you can actually shoot the IRS building enough that it blows a hole in the side of it. Can't be totally destroyed, but you get bonus points for doing it in the end of mission debrief.
