Finished reading Mustel's introduction : National Dex PokegraphicI liked it! The only complain that I have is that it had way too much purple prose for no reason at all, so if you're reading this Mustel anon, on your next story I suggest reading it back and strip most of it off. My writing stylings lack an internal consistency as I run mostly on vibes and sometimes end up imitating stylistic choices from other authors, for better or worse. Some of the more skilled writers have picked up on my grammar tics which has terrified me since that means they know me better than I know myself. The book was a framing device I had in mind as I wanted to see if I could write a low key macguffin which fits stylistically in what the PMD world allows without it literally being a case of "the one ring to rule them all" as that shit typically falls into and it'd act against the narrative agency of Clover as a whole. Its definitely easier to write for pre-existing characters the other anons have made than to write for a new pair of identities that I'm not 100% solid with. This of course comes after needing to rethink what I was initially doing character wise.I'm glad you enjoyed it despite it being kinda disconcerting in parts as I still try to find how I can actually parse my ideas into text without sounding completely unhinged. I read Umbreon/Flareon-anon's stories about Adrian. I think they're generally good. You portray the characters and their interactions very well. They have distinct personalities, and their behavior and conflicts feel natural. You've expressed concerns that your stories are too edgy, but I wouldn't say that, since the only real source of edginess comes from Adrian being so disagreeable all the time. If you're concerned about him being too edgy, I do think there's lots of potential for him to mellow out and become a better person over time, which would make for a great overarching storyline/goal for him.I do have a bit of general criticism about dialogue tags: consider not using such a big variety of words for them. Simple talking words like said, asked, or yelled are usually sufficient. More complicated words like proclaimed, chimed, questioned, etc. can be distracting. It's better to depict body language or write your dialogue in a way that conveys how the dialogue is spoken, without having to rely on special tags that contain additional info within them. The way it is now, his decision and the climax feel random because we don't see enough of his reasoning. On a related note, I think all the characters should've discussed the ethics of the job, and had a stronger reaction to the shopkeeper’s death, considering how shocking/traumatic it must have been.I tried to keep my feedback brief, but I hope you find it helpful. I feel nothing doing this in mainline. I could rant about a lot of design things I'm in favor of, including stat moves impact and compositions, even size attributes, but I can be here all day.I'm a huge fan.
