Np anon enjoy

There's a lot of good ones out there. https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/Endur1el/mods has many of them
When having to choose between two mods that do the same thing, I would recommend picking the one that uses MSU over the one that doesn't since they tend to be more inter-compatible
https://www.nexusmods.com/battlebrothers/mods/479

I've actually modded the game myself some time ago for some little things, it uses Squirrel. It's not too hard to get into

How am I trying to ruin anything?

The only objectionable thing I see in my list is Show enemy stats, because it's giving the player info they'd normally have to guesstimate from the text descriptions. But I think personally for me it eeks out as QoL because having to memorize what durability an armor has just off its looks isn't really a challenge. Just takes time

What the fuck are you talking about?? Literally all he did was post some mods he recommends to people, new or old. That new people (like myself) shouldn't install too many mods (or any) should be a given, that isn't his fault.

God bless those silly spears, holy shit they're great so far! Spearwall is such a meme ability, with the AI running into it head first 3-4 times in a row if they don't get though. Crippling Strikes and Executioner feel like a fun combo too, but I'm not too sure about that yet. Buying quality, carefully picked, units at the start with decent equipment helped a fuck ton too.

Not quite sure what it is, or where I have to seriously improve, but the balancing on easy feels very off to me. Even though the game defaulted to it on first boot, contract payout and fights still feel oddly hard. I'm not asking to steam roll everything mind you, but to have an "easy-ish time" fighting, while not having to struggle with money constantly. My current run is by far the best I've had since starting, but the money struggles still make things a good challenge and by no means easy, resulting in every single casualty being a huge hit. When I see guys that cost 1-2k it's already something, but then there is 5-10k people too which blows my mind, not to mention non-combat followers thing. I like the game mind you, far more than I originally expected, but man is it playing hard to get with me.

Always assume a contract involving beasts is at least one skull higher than what it actually says.

Early game you honestly don't want to bother with anything that isn't bandit contracts. Beast contracts are not worth the risk early on imo. You need to gear up first.
>>
>>474937271
Addendum: if the contract is for a tiny zombie camp then that's ok too. Just pace yourself.

>Beast contracts are not worth the risk early on
If it wasn't for the darn AI, beast quests wouldn't feel remotely as bad as they are. Having 5 orcs be a menace I'm fine with, it's what I expect. But I don't expect a few spider to be more deadlier than some bandits are barbarians. Doesn't help that the feeling of lacking money makes you desperate for contracts, even beast ones.

>>
>>474941520
Well, depends on what your company looks like. Do you have any cleavers?

Also, a trick which might help you in other situations (but maybe not this one, because necromancer): If you have a tough fight ahead, you can try to lure a 3rd party into combat. Like just another enemy party in the map, get them to chase you and start the original fight when they're close. That way you will have a three-way, and you can let the enemies beat the shit out of each other and you fight the weakened guys.
>>
>>474942046
>Do you have any cleavers
Are those their kryptonite or somethin??
>>
>>474943425
Zombies don't get back up if you decapitate them. Cleavers have a decapitate move. Fallen Heroes don't give a shit though, they will still get up without a head.

You can still decapitate without a cleaver of course, it's just easier. Cleavers also come in very clutch when an enemy has high health but little/no armor.

Started a new campaign to join everybody else. Standard origin, expert combat, expert economy, low funds, ironman. I did leave map explored though. I don't want the full cock and ball torture experience right now.

Dude wasn't wearing a hat. Dudes that don't wear hats are exceptionally vulnerable to getting bonked in the noggin. One of my guys happened to have a 1h flail, which has an attack that always hits the head (if it lands). The less damaged an item is after a battle, the more likely it is to drop as loot. Therefore, if you manage to kill someone without touching their armor, it is very likely you get their armor.

Conversely this is why it is very important to give your guys hats. Getting headshotted isn't fun.

>>
>>475010984
No, reserve is only in the overworld. Think of it as the bench. They are represented by the bottom slots in the roster screen, the ones with tents. They are bros who are still in your party but who will not appear in combat. Useful for when you don't want the dude who's in critical condition showing up to the next brawl, so he can have time to heal.

Protip to newbs: as a general rule, even your dedicated-ranged bros should have at least a mace as their secondary weapon. A simple wooden stick can buy you a turn in an emergency when the enemy closes with them in melee, because you can switch to the stick and try stunning them.

Of course this isn't necessary if you have smoke grenades, footwork, or someone to rotate with.

Man this game could really benefit on some after battle flavor text. "Wilreich fought valiantly, and we buried him past the local graveyard by a tree, the rest have dogs feasting on their bones". The enemy was destroyed with pictures of your men cut down is pretty drab. Rest of the game has good writing so this seems kinda out of place. Should care about your mercenary band and the stories they produce.

With the Star Wars strategy-esque game in development, my concept that ended up being pretty similar to what Menace sounds like.

In the aftermath of Yavin, as the Empire is fracturing and the New Republic scrambles to establish itself you play as the commander of an ISD bound task force sent to secure some shitfuck sector. Balance dealing with rogue Moffs, criminal organizations, local governments, the New Republic and the competing interests of your own officers to secure the sector.

Balance and stretch your resources and manpower in turn based ground and space battles as the rebels try to turn and secure the various factions against you.

&tg enough?
>>
>>475143048
>&tg enough?
&tg-ness has to do with gameplay not the setting
>>
>&rg enough?
What the guy above me said.
Having said that, seeing that CoH and some other RTS count as &tg, how far should the list really go? If we count CoH, then surely WC, SC, AoE and others fit too, right?

people often use "tactical" to refer to a "vibe", rather than just literally gameplay having to do with tactics.

so im on day 88 of my campaign with a reasonable bunch of guys wearing mostly oathtaker or fallen hero armor. on looking at the fallen hero gear, they seem to be okay but being "Decayed" seems to mean they lower fatigue a lot more than the other more normal armor? and I want to get better armor next, right? the nonDecayed better ones?
also what armor do Nimble brothers use?
>>
>>475169305
Fallen hero gear is a stepping stone to higher tier gear. But only give it to bros with high stamina because as you said you pay for their high protection with fatigue. Better armor will both protect more and be lighter.

Nimble bros wanna go light. The most protection you can give them in the lightest package possible. Have you found any named weapons/armor yet?

Your total armor shouldn't be too much more negative than -15 fat if possible, though there's a little wiggle room.

If you're doing 110,-5 (Heavy Mail Coif) + 110,-11 (Southern Mail Shirt) = 110/110 -16, so that's not bad. You can still upgrade it with stock items like 140,-6 (Assassin's Face Mask) + 120,-9 (Assassin Robes) and = 140/120, -15. Another good one is 120,-5 (Sallet Helmet)

You could make an argument for favoring chest armor more than head (since it is easier to hit). Hell, if you went Steel Brow you could go even further in this direction and try something like 45,0 (Desert Stalker's Head Wrap) + 160,-15 (Noble Mail) = 45_SB/160, -15.

Named armors help a lot with getting the best mileage here. You can get some crazy protection with them with very light fat cost.

Oh and I didn't even mention armor attachments.

Named armors + good attachments feels real nice. Though even if you don't have fancy armors, if you have decent attachments that aren't hard to get, just slap em on anything. They are good for giving a leg up to mid armor

I'm convinced Legends is the "Brutal Doom" of Battle Brothers mods. Even down to not understanding why the gameplay of the original worked or the people that go around asking other modders if their stuff works with Legends.

I wouldn't have nearly as much of a problem with it if it wasn't so monolithic. Sometimes they have good ideas but they're drowned in a sea of shit, and they're not modular so whatever.

It really isn't, the focus lays way too far into the economic side for that, been playing it all night long. Stronghold has actual options for warfare and defense, something that ML is severely lacking, for better or worse.
It's a City Builder with light combat elements, think Farthest Frontier.

You can do that in Vanilla RoN. Look at the Swat operator in question and open your command menu. It should be grey and the order will only be issued to that man.
>>
>>475304238
They don't want suspects/civilians from other rooms to react to your sound. This makes it easier for the player to keep control of the situation. There are some mods that change this, but what usually happens is, that when you breach your first room you will draw in suspects from half of the map and all other rooms will either be empty or the suspects/civilians will have already surrendered before you even get there.

It's not "realistic" but keeps the game nicely segmented and creates a good game flow. It's a case of Gameplay over realism, but you could argue that the scenario of 5 SWAT operators dealing with dozens of suspects on massive maps is unrealistic in and of itself, and this Gameplay design actually leads to a more realistic door to door Gameplay, or more realistic micro scenarios within an unrealistic overall scenario.

Players rarely look up so i guess level difference could be a key (enemy on top the the tree, wall etc...) and most players loose all their shit when they see something in front of them (aka they start looting, unlocking or any kind of action that demands at least bit of focus) and for AI i guess it could use some kind of player detection like if AI stumbles upon player that has his head turned away from it it could enter a "silent" mode and either shoot the player or sneak up and meele

The new game from the devs of Syrian Warfare (CatsWhoPlay) is out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dob5M9mzkjQ

Download here:
https://www.catswhoplay.com/new/index.php/ru/igry/front-edge

It's free to play, has no English localization, and apparently only has PvP and PvE without a campaign. So skirmish mode only. Only two armies as of now, US vs Russia, but they plan to add more factions to it in the future.

Deepl translation of the game page:
- The game gives players the opportunity to fight each other (in 1vs1, 2vs1 and 2vs2 modes), or in Battle mode with a computer opponent.
- Initially two armies are available in the game, these are Russia and the USA, in the future it is possible to add other armies.
- The battle on the maps is for key points, the task of players at the end of the match time to control more key points on the map. In case of capturing all points by one of the players (one of the teams) the match ends prematurely.
- Players can call for reinforcements during the game using Team Points (CP) accumulated over time.
- Initially, players have access to standard sets of vehicles and infantry, but later players can get unique squads and vehicles that can move from battle to battle, gaining experience and being able to install and use various improvements and tactics.
- The game will initially contain only the basic gameplay of general military combat, which will be further actively developed with the addition of new mechanisms actively appearing now in real life (for example, copters with reset, FPV drones, etc.).
- The game is considered as a basic platform that will be further developed with the addition of mechanics, new types of equipment, battle tactics, maps.
- A fully open game design/development process is planned, with maximum involvement of players and sympathizers.
- In the future, the game can serve as a base for creating single-player campaigns on various current and anticipated conflicts.

NTA, but take a look at Large Progress Indicator, Better Sorting, and Backpack Borders. They're all just UI mods, but they fix up the interface.
Slightly more cheaty ones are Weapon Condition Indicator (tell at a glance how damaged your weapon is without hovering over it), More Description for Traits/Moodles (two separate mods, gives you precise numbers), and Equipment UI (shows a paperdoll of what you have equipped, instead of needing to scroll to the bottom of your inventory)

They updated TAVR recently with some cool new features with some improved AI:
• Added shootable door hinges and deadbolt. Place a shotgun against a door surface and shoot the hinges or deadbolt to open doors. Shoot both hinges to destroy the door.
Enemies:
• Added: Enemies can now decide to go prone when taking cover. If you see a prone enemy, you're likely already dead.
• Added: Enemies can now perform a Melee Attack if the player is too close. SMACK! (see weebum)

Webm with no audio this time I can't be bothered sorry.
I use the snake eye camera to see under the door. I call there's a guy on the right side.
I pull my rifle to bash the door with the stock but see friendo pulling out the shotgun instead. Swap to pistol and take aim.
He blasts open the door and we go in slicing the pie.
There's already the mission target on the ground and a guy very close right, he goes in and I assume he had some trouble with pumping the shotty and gets melee'd.

They put lock-picking in as well so you can open doors without alerting enemies but we haven't tried those yet.

also the bipod system for snipers is really cool and can attach to any geometry in the game
We tried it out in the lobby by going prone IRL and sticking it to the ground and to our surprise the IK for players models had special prone animation (very rare in vr games).
Only issue is the even with my head touching my floor IRL the camera was slightly upward compared to the scope of the rifle. Still very cool feature.

and in a real use case scenario it's useful at crouch heights from windows and such
once the bipod is locked in you can release your offhand and fully focus your aim with the right
i'm not very good at it that's pretty much the best shot I got from the entire session lol
I kinda miss aiming with a mouse since there's 0 wobbling on a mousepad compared to holding your hands up in the air

I feel like I've played every worthwhile online game and single player games we get like 2-3 ones worth playing a year unless you are a gay and autistic and soi face over weird indie games like hades, undertale, and whatever else.
>>
>>475445152
Also I liked squad because it didn't feel like a job, which is ironic because I played it like one. Theres no progression, no dailies, no ranks, nothing. You just play the game because its fun, and you want to. Theres no difference between my account that has 5k hours and a completely fresh one. That and the community run nature and virtually everyone having a mic, and most server owners/staff outside of gay streamer ones don't really give a shit what you say unless you are spamming nigger in open channels.

Every other online game right now just feels like a chore, has FOMO, etc. and I'm tired of that.

Mod support came back I think, SQUAD has the best star wars PvP game in existance, lots of arabs love playing MEE because all the sandpeople terrorist groups are on display, and its a lower IQ game mode.

It's the first somewhat accessible game where china is a faction, though if you look at player peaks its not peaking in china (yet).

If you have squad, and don't play it anymore its worth giving the star wars mod a try. It's pure SOVL

It would be about as fun as warthunder without penetration cam and the vehicle not turning into a wreck on "death"

In vanilla, it's flavor for a regular market but in a combat zone. Means you can stock up on stuff without having to go back to another planet and buy things there. I'm unsure if there's mods that change this.

keeping your plans very vague and only building things right before you need them goes a long way towards organic appearance
>>

Issue is that I'm a huge grid brain, making it quite difficult for me to build organically. I have to effectively force myself to build organically, and even then I'll probably fall back into the old grid trap at some point.

Installed MW5 for the first time. Jumped into instant action before modding anything. Was fun bullying this Javelin lmao. I just used my jump jets to get into rocky elevated ground and played peekaboo with it

I wonder if the modded AI would've tried using its jumpjets to climb up with me

My concept for a SWAT/RoN style game was that NPCs would have a health and a will pool. Health has a total that gets divided up between upper/lower torso, 4 limbs and the head with hitboxes for the heart, lungs and femoral/brachial arteries. Shoot a suspect and you take a chunk of health points out, with a possibility to "crit" and do extra damage based on ammo type. If it intersects with a vital organ like the heart, it'll super critical and kill them. Lungs or arteries, it'll start a bleed that'll drain health at varying rates from the suspect.

Will also gets drained when shot, or less lethal etc and varying suspect archetypes and conditions can set behaviors at certain will levels. It can go up, down, surrender, suicide etc depending on the context. Health checks would also happen and provide chances for suspects to have a "psychological stop" and drop after a single non lethal shot, or potentially keep fighting after their health level drops past the incapacitating point. Would offer unpredictability and make suspects both difficult to put down with shitty shot placement and quick to put down with good shooting.

Grading on UoF would be less about whether you took them alive etc, and more: Was the UoF justified, and if so how was your shot placement? Did you spray 30 rounds and hit them on the last one?

Haven't even started a campaign or installed any mods and I'm already having a ton of fun. Going in as a light mech and painting targets for a Catapult lancemate on high ground is the tightest shit. You just spot it and seconds later it gets blown up by LRMs.

I'm sure I'll find stuff to dislike later as I continue, but so far mods don't seem nearly as mandatory as people made them out to be. Of course I'm gonna install them, it's just I had a very skewed picture of what I was going into. People made it seem like lancemates were useless in vanilla, but they seem to be following my commands just fine.

>>475717079
I'll test this out later, but thanks for the tip. I have seen the enemy use them, just not as smartly as a human player I guess

This shit is more soul-crushing than Tarkov's 30 minute matching. If you want this experience just go play Arma with friends. It is. It plays almost exactly like (shittier) DayZ in terms of gunplay and movement but you loot things on small maps with few hotspots that spawn things and you have to wait for them to open so other players have a chance to kill you. The inventory system is the worst part though, utterly fucked for console.
Then you go to the extract that someone probably is camping.
It has about 50 million microtransaction cosmetics though.

It was released in a barely playable state so they could maximize an initial profit return.

The performance issues are the most visible problems, but they actually aren't the worst. The game shipped with next to nothing resembling a gameplay loop. There's no looting, the gunplay and movement feels generic and halfbaked, the quests are extremely repetitive with basically nonexistent progression because all the guns feel the same, and the AI is absolutely comically bad and itself extremely repetitive to fight. This is a game that is supposed to be focused on PvE, btw.

>Movement grid
nuCOM did not invent the square grid. JA1 and JA2 both used a square grid. JA2 iterated on that by adding the ability to climb to elevated positions like roofs. JA3 uses basically the same grid as JA2.

>Perks and abilities
nuCOM did not invent these in tactics games, they've been around for a long ass time. Even Silent Storm had them. I'll give you that it popularized them further though

>Basically the XCOM cover system
This isn't accurate though. JA3's cover system allows for shooting limbs that are sticking out of cover. It allows for penetrating walls and blindfiring. A very similar thing was already done in JA2, but it wasn't communicated in this way to the player. Red shield indicates you won't get benefit from the piece of cover unless you crouch/prone behind it. nuCOM had none of this. It was a binary "are you flanked y/n" with 2 cover types that provide flat defense bonuses

This guy would've been remained alive had the game implemented XCOM's cover system
>>
>>475856816

For some reason one autistic faggot here gets retarded at the mere mention of it (despite the fact it is exactly what this thread is made for). My opinions are
>Poor performance, fixed with FSR
>Predetermined helicopter LZ is terrible, spawncamping is annoying
>tasks system is bad and discourages teamwork
>PvP is tedious because you can kill someone, they respawn at base to get all their gear, and can fly back into the same area in about 5 minutes
>AI is retarded
I would wait and see what they add. The PvP is fun, you can easily team up with randoms in the field and dont have to worry about PvP with your own faction like in tarkov. Gunplay is nice, but all the other gameplay elements need work. The map is great, and every random bit of jungle feels like a great spot to have a shootout.

Well, to answer my own question, after two arena fights back to back I think you can get away with 16 Rear CT and 14 Rear LT/RT if you're weaving in and out of sight. If your contract is only one mission and you get to repair later, you can probably do lower, but I would start feeling nervous. For many other mechs 12 rear seems fine as long as you don't get into brawling range too much, but if you're in the thick of it the backstab protection feels vital

Made mine into basically a JR7-F. Removed the SRM-4 launchers, maxed the armor, kept the jump jets. Dropped the heat sink because Jenner pilots are supposed to be sweating anyway. Do damage, get close to overheating, GTFO and hide for a while to cool down. That's the Jenner way right?

Also damn, the arena is fun. Commentators add good flavor, and it's a genuine challenge being in the middle of a free for all having to watch your ass while trying to gank someone else. Waiting for just the right moment to cut into some duel and fuck the weakest mech up. It's great

It's the latter. But instead of a manual it's PDFs of Let's Plays to figure out what the fuck is going on. Due to its nature of being real time with pause, it has a lot more granularity (relevant things happen in less than a second, the configurable auto-pause makes this sane)

Its combat is the yard stick I measure any other RTT's with, because it implements all sorts of shit. The Hard Life fanmod is even crazier.

However, you will not find a good story or memorable characters here. You're in it purely for gameplay, because the writing sucks

It's very readable and it's flow from match to match is very easy to follow for new and old players alike.
I know that killing workers is good, I can tell the units apart even in 480p streams full of compression artifacts, I know in the beginning each kill means a lot, I know who won a fight and who didn't, etc. That's what did it for me, I found it very easy to get into.
I know none of these things are exclusive to SC2, before anyone says "$(MY_FAVORITE_GAME) does that too and no one watches and $(SHIT_GAME) doesn't do that and everyone slurps it up".

>>475981216
And then there is smart anon over here with an in-depth answer.

Things like this are hard to impossible to force, no matter how often publisher love to force "DUDE ESPORTS LOL" down peoples throat when they announce a new game because of the insane success that are League, DOTA and others. Granted they're far from the only games that had this success, but SC and AoE2 aren't what they used to be, at least outside of Korea.

It actually went pretty well. It's an early game encounter that filters somepeople. I immediately I originally made these webms to show a newbie one way of handling the encounter with the mercs they themselves had chosen. I did it on hard difficulty because I figured it would illustrate the point that it would work regardless of difficulty

>both goons lived
No, the guy that got shot in the head died. The guy that got stabbed was severely wounded. Everyone minus the overwatcher still had AP left over to do stuff before the enemy turn. I was originally planning on getting a 2fer with the shot, getting two dudes at once, but I didn't quite line it up.

God damn. Now this is comfy. 10/10 would recommend these HUD mods for MW5.

>Better Lance Status
Lets you see paper dolls for your lancemates. This way you have advance warning if they need your help before they lose an expensive weapon or are otherwise in hot water. Without this, you'd have to manually target each with Q to know how they're doing (or switch to controlling them, which would be even slower)
https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/997

>Proper Rear Paper Doll
Legs and arms don't have rear armor, so why even show them on the rear display? Removes the irrelevant visual noise

>Armor Green
Much easier to tell just how damaged a part is. Very customizable

Has probably been mentioned, but MGS 5 would have SO MUCH more replayability if it had a few more well layed out subsistance missions (all equipment procured in mission instead of you making a loadout before). THe two that are in the game are some of the most fun missions since you got to actually figure out how you can acheive the mission objectives with the stuff in the area.

For example, one was to destroy the 3 satilite disks in a small outposts, and the two ways that I figured the Devs set out was that there was a case of grenades deep in the base, and that a few of the gaurds patrolling the outside held rocket launchers (but each with only 1 rocket each). really made you engage with the sandbox in a way that you only did when fooling around. And would give you a reason to use all the shit you dont have since you got the tranq pistol and tranq sniper for most shit.

your heat sinks bro. it also depends what the environment is like. you will have less heat issues when fighting in cold weather for example. I don't think they implemented extra cooling while standing in water bodies in MW5 but I could be wrong.

Also get this
https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/830
Makes internal double heat sinks actually work as they should.

post mech build you're having trouble with. Some mechs are supposed to run hot. Often times, a mech that is "heat neutral" just means it's undergunned.

>>476077625

Well, if I recall correctly the stock CN9-A has a cooling rate of 1heat/s. So that's actually plenty. Which by the way, highly encourage you to twiddle with mech editing even now, because it goes a long way. At the very least, max out your armor, and add a little more to the front instead of the back for mechs that won't get within brawling distance often. More armor means less components getting broken which means less money spent on repairs.

When you attack, are you typically alpha striking? Alpha striking is when you fire all your weapons simultaneously. So that means 2x ML, 1x AC/10, 1x LRM10. Because if you do that a bunch, then yeah you're gonna quickly run into heat issues. A big part of the game is heat management, and it's just something you'll have to get a feel for. Finally, are you using any other mods?

Also you can just strip whatever you want from a mech and add something else instead
You won't run into mechs that are undertonned unless their components are broken

>maybe fighting in desert was a mistake
Well, it's unavoidable sometimes. Just mind that in hot climates you should favor weapons with lower heat generation. In cold climates, you can run hotter builds easier. Dress for the occasion.

Another thing: do you know about overriding shutdowns?

>>476078851
To expand on this: whenever you get a new mech, first click the strip mech button on the top right, and then max armor. That guarantees that anything that comes after is on top of max armor.

I understand the frustration at PGI, but this is not broken, it seems to be a conscious balance decision. All engine (meaning internal) heatsinks are invisible to the player, and they are all counted as single heat sinks despite what the lore might say about that particular mech. I think this is the case in MWO too.
>>
>>476077625
is that heatsink issue broken with YAML too?

Like I said in the post above, it's not broken, it's just how they balanced the videogame. I don't know because I haven't used YAML. You can easily find this out by checking the base cooling rate of a mech with Double heat sinks (meaning, without guns or extra heat sinks). Though if you're early game, you won't see those for a while
>>
>>476078851
I see I didn't even know there was a detailed panel but I'll strip my mech now and fiddle with the armor since I don't let anyone get behind my back anyway (or at least die trying)
I don't alpha strike but I do shoot my weapons as soon as they go off the cooldown but I'll show more restraints from here on out
the biggest mod I'm using is YAML (I know I shouldn't but I don't have a choice) the rest are not that impactful on the gameplay mostly just QoL stuff
>>476079403
I don't know about overriding shutdown but I did just find out about using coolants which immensely helps with my heat issue but it's a limited resource so I guess it's better to save that for life threatening emergencies

Oh lol, well, now you have a whole new world of tinkering open to you. It's really fun customizing your mechs. This way, you can see them as merely a canvas for you to do whatever you want with instead of being stuck with the stock loadouts (which often kinda suck, but they have a charm of their own).

Let me introduce you to SARNA. It's one of the best wikis on the internet.
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Centurion_(BattleMech)
You can go read up on the lore and canon variants of mechs there for inspiration. They're going off the tabletop wargame info, but you could translate some of that to the vidya.

>I don't know about overriding shutdown
When you're about to shutdown from overheating, you can press O to override it. This will get rid of the safety feature and allow you to cook yourself to death if you push it much further. There is no more humiliating way to die than to have your mech do a safety shutdown on you in the middle of a brawl.

I think the HBS Battletech intro does a very good job of giving you a primer on the lore for the universe, at least for the era the game takes place in (there's multiple eras). It's also much better than the painfully generic MW5 intro.

You can always go naked into regular missions. I think only the Volgin mission and the Shagohod missions are impossible without OSP.
It really is a replayable game but much like Rimworld and other sandboxes, it requires you to lift a lot of weight when it comes to setting goals and such.
To resume, I agree with you, I wish there were more dedicated OSP mods or something.

I dont think I argued that modern gaming is at all defendable. But I prefer my single player experiences to be finishable instead of getting 30% through a game and then hit with a "SORRY! the rest of this game will be out in 2-3 years, idk, lol!" screen.

Dark messiah is unfinished in a lot of polishing respects, but it still manages to pull off the feeling that it wrapped up by the end instead of blue balling you. Just want to play something I feel like I can finish and move on to something else.

That you're retarded. 1 came out day and day with the console version, meaning they probably had the same menu design and everything being a part of both, allowing code to be copied. Honestly, if you're buying get Heavy Metal and Flashpoints. Urban Warfare are optional. The other stuff is irrelevant. I just bought base game and pirated the DLC.

I don't have exact details but it takes 300+ skill points (you get 5-10 each mission depending on difficulty plus like 120 from leveling), the vengeance torso (which requires 3+ mid game researches), and a strong melee weapon on a unit who comes naturally (rng) with the close quarters specialist ability on an assault or heavy.

Combo is to use rapid clearance (restore 2 AP when killing an enemy) with 1 AP melee attacks (from vengeance torso), as well as dash, a 1 AP move that gives 2 AP worth of movement.

Is there a quick cheat sheet bringup guide for all the stuff you can in do in 7.62 High Calibre?
I went, in, talked to some guy, he was being rude so I brought out my inner REVOLVER OCELOT and shot three dudes with a colt before any of them could get a shot off. I feel like it was mostly luck because I have no idea who's doing what or if I'm supposed to know if I can view enemy's action times, fields of view or what they're currently doing so I can make a better judgement call, or what the Aim/First person view things are supposed to do beyond just flavor.
>>
>>476208294
Also two questions
>Is there a way to keep moving while aiming/readying a shot? Strafing if such a function exists?
>Is there a mod or a way to replay completed battles in real time kind of like the Doorkickers/no plan B end of mission replays?
>>
>>476208294
I don't there is. Game is pretty jank. I liked it but then some encounters were really fucking weird, either because the AI is whack as fuck or because the spotting system freaked out or I just didn't not understand it fully. But yeah it is really satisfying to pull of some moves and gun down enemies.
>>476208458
Yes. Ready the weapon you have and Alt + Click to move.
None that I know of.
>>
>>476208294
>cheat sheet
Uh probably someone has made one but I don't know it
>enemy's action times, fields of view or what they're currently doing
nope, you just see what their model is doing and guess from that. if they raise their gun, they're probably about to shoot.
>Aim/First person view things
they are very useful to know what each character actually has line of sight to
>>476208458
>keep moving while aiming/readying a shot?
Yes
>replay
No

However depending on how you feel about modding it, I could recommend that if you're on steam you activate the beta branch that says Community patch and install mercapocalypse on top of that

I see.
One more question, what's with all of these magazine types? What's the difference between the one with the red tape versus the other one on the following row? What's "CBC economical" versus "High Velocity"?
Did I fuck up by installing mercapocalypse?
Right click info has no actual information.
>>
>>476217262
>Red tape
Jungle mags. It's two magazines taped together, which means reloading is way faster. You can do the same with any (almost) any two same rifle mags with some duct tape.
>CBC economical/High velocity
Different ammo types. You should be able to see the stat differences if you right click on the bullets in the magazine window
>Did I fuck up by installing mercapocalypse?
No imo, it adds a lot of fun /k/ stuff to the game
>>
>>476217574
>Jungle mags
Why wouldn't I want this over any other type of dual magazine?
>You should be able to see the stat differences if you right click on the bullets in the magazine window
I see, thanks.
>>
>>476217854
I honestly don't remember if the red tape and black tape mean anything different, or if they implemented clamps. You could try buying both and unsticking them from the right click menu and see what item you get if you're curious. I'm guessing it's just a flavor thing and they behave the same

By the way, you wanna go get Paquito at the Bar by that one coastal northeast town. He's gonna be your first teammate

God, these controls are dick but this bar firefight was pretty god damn great.
>exit out the door I entered, get shot
>reload
>try to sneak around
>also get shot, because penetration and bar walls are thin wood
>try to sneak around out of the kitchen, no way out but I can spot them without them looking at me
>aim a headshot at one of them
>he's done
>crouch and switch to my MP5, burst fire setting
>stand up again
>chance to hit: outstanding, they're still taking their guns out and turning my way
>burst fire one guy, he's done for
>the other guy panics and runs to the corner due to shock
>snapshot headshot him, all done
This game has a lot going for it.
>>476235625
I'm that anon, but I never finished it(you'll come to learn to hate alchemists as much as I have). how can I help if possible?
General tips?
>Keep multiple saves, try your best not to finish fights wounded because resources are extremely scarce all around for the first few levels.
>Unless you're planning for a certain ending, charisma is a trap stat after 6 points which is when you can get up to 2 party members, as more party members=less skill points all around.
>The first three party members are a joke and you should use them as meatshields, avoid healing them.
>You get party members who make alchemy and blacksmithing/crafting a trap stat. You should focus on attack and defense as best you can. Have a primary weapon that you dump all of your points in + either block or dodge, and then keep a shitty dagger for when you can't attack without additional AP.
>Orientation matters in this game
>If you have an annoying(singular) enemy remaining, try to focus down its arms/legs so that you don't get hit and dodge is less annoying. Otherwise try to take down enemies as fast as possible instead of spreading out damage.
>Spears are great at keeping enemies at bay because of it's two range, and you can use the passive to keep your vanguard covered.
>feel free to quit once you meet alchemist enemies.
>>
>>476236858
My preferred solution to the bar fight was also going through the kitchen, crouch behind the bar, and chuck a pipe bomb at their table. Then stand up and shoot.

The boring way is camp and let them come to you as you keep your gun aimed at the door, you'll get the drop on them
>>
>>476236858
>The first three party members are a joke and you should use them as meatshields, avoid healing th
I mean this to be the three idiots around the campfire, not the very first guy you get(Marcus? He had a hammer), that guy fucks.
>>
Battle Brothers is shit because it is a puzzle game where every encounter has a single way to win, otherwise you will take losses that set you back hours
>>
>>476237257
The weird thing is that none of them moved my way after the initial shootout. Bug or is my colt not loud?
Also, the game runs like ass with lots of pauses(outside of the actual pauses, it's like major freezing), is this normal

I don't know, for me they did. It should've been loud enough. Maybe they were just taking their time (unless you waited for minutes).

That is not normal, game should be pretty smooth in performance front. What it is is unstable. This gets better with the community patch, and MUCH better with the fanmod Hard Life, but you would still be wise to do hard saves before/after quests and quicksaves for everything else. Your mileage may vary, for me I didn't get a lot of crashes on Linux, but it still happened sometimes. I've heard of some players that got crashes regularly on Windows, hopefully that's not your case
>>
>>476237983
>>476237450
Also there's this thing you can do to have a sane camera
>Open the console (Tilde) and type 'FreeCamera true' (Without the ' ). Does not trigger 'CHEATER' status that other commands would give you
>>
>>476237983
Not crashing, just freezes here and there. I'll try again and look at my settings one last time.
Also I sincerly hope none of the other firefights I get into occur at the edge of the map because this camera is already ass enough to control without 60% of the space I was trying to move in being blocked off.
Are there any must have QoL mods beyond Blue Sun?
>>
>>476238204
I just did BlueSun (Community patch) + MercApoc + that freecamera console command.

Make sure you go over the BlueSun.ini config in your game directory, there's a lot of options. In fact, I believe MercApoc 2 disables some BlueSun things such as the class system, you can reenable that in the INI if you want. I thiink MercApoc 3 might have released and doesn't do that anymore, but I don't really care to go hunt that down
>>
>>476237548
No complaints about RNG
>>476237489
Meta builds are required unless you want to lose multiple veterans every combat from mid to end game
>>
>>476238415
I am using Apoc3 and it does have the class system back.

Should I jump in Hard Life after a playthrough or sooner, if it's more stable I'd like to play that then.
>>
>>476238624
Nice, I'm glad they put it back in. I think that might have been because I prodded the dev about it, lol

>>476238843
I would say you don't HAVE to finish the full game, but I would recommend it. I just stopped playing after killing the main quest guy and left it at that. I didn't see the liberation of the country to the end because it was a bit of a slog (you can get involved in the Civil War, side with the government or the rebels. I did rebels). Once you get to that point you should be well qualified to jump into Hard Life's madness (get ready to have gun permits for open carry in the city lol)
