A slightly overlooked detail: even though the "A New Hope" subtitle was added to the crawl in 1981, the movie was still mostly called "Star Wars" in marketing and common parlance until the 2004 DVDs.

The 2004 releases are when "A New Hope" became emphasized in trailers etc, and more people started calling it "A New Hope" instead of "Star Wars". This was probably to reduce confusion after the franchise had grown larger.

It looks nice thematically and you'll be able to build lists that work with what you have.
Not hyper-competitive ones obviously but good enough to begin with.
I'd just refrain from using Dark Troopers in your very first game since they have some pretty unusual rules (they don't get cover, activate twice).
Also unlike what the Core Set suggests, I encourage you to use Line of Sight blocking Terrain in addition to barricades for starter games since otherwise it tends to favor however shoots first.

Honestly I'd just talk to the players about what their characters want to do and build some stuff around that as well. You're part of the big bad empire, if you can backstab your way far enough you'll get the resources to make all your twisted dreams come true.
Emphasize that cutthroat nature, the missions will likely be less important (you're The Empire after all, you got a lot of advantages over rebel scum) then figuring out what the heck the guy above them is up to, whether they're being set up as scapegoats or patsies, and whether they can twist the mission to make themselves look great while the guy above them looks like a fool whose shoes would look a lot better on you.

There's always the option of having session one be the Battle of Endor, with the party having the freedom after the collapse of the centralized Imperial military to chart their own course amid the various post-Endor warlord factions.

TOR-era has more story opportunity since Sith and Jedi are plentiful and the Empire has an equal foe to deal with. In the ~10 BBY period, you're kind of limited with what stories you can tell since the Rebellion is still nascent, CIS holdouts are essentially dead, and most Jedi are already killed off. if you want to go with that period, I would suggest a slightly anachronistic AU that combines multiple elements, like the Rebellion starting earlier or CIS holding out longer.

In general though, the most interesting period for an Imperial campaign is post-Endor. At that point you have Imperial infighting, the Rebellion/NR coming on strong, and multiple disparate factions trying to stake their claims in a chaotic galaxy. You even have multiple Warlords and Imperial regimes to choose from, and depending on how the campaign progresses you could lose your faction entirely and have to flee to group up with someone else.

It's their fault for making her one of the more interesting characters in current Disney Star Wars. Barriss literally only shows up in the Geonosis arc then three seasons later for the Wrong Jedi arc, and in between appearances she goes from standard Padawan to terrorist apostate skilled enough to beat Ventress and Ahsoka. Bringing her back for Tales of the Empire had a lot of potential; her grievances were against the Republic and Jedi for failing, so how would she view the new Empire and Order 66? Her last interaction with Anakin was going toe-to-toe with him before being arrested for framing his beloved padawan, what would her relationship be with Vader? Would she ever meet Ahsoka again, and how would that play out?

Her mini-arc in Tales was a super boring way to bring her back. We see very little of her dealing with the new Imperial order outside of the Inquisitorius, she and Vader never interact, and apparently she works things out with Ahsoka during a huge time skip. Personally I would've rather gotten a Barriss miniseries than Bad Batch, but that might just be hindsight speaking.

episode 12 has him hit his shots, but as soon as he mentions tantiss his hands start acting up again
then in the finale, while on tantiss, his hands start acting up again until he gets reassurance from hunter and wrecker, which works as he hits all his shots on the gunfight, but then his hand gets cut off
then in the final confrontation you can see his left hand still trembling, it may not be his shooting hand but its still his pistol hand, and crosshair could hit that shot
but he doubted it, he needed the support of hunter (physically and mentally as he is using hunters shoulder as a support) and the full faith of omega for him to be calm and focus so he could hit the shot

the hand was just the physical manifestation of his PTSD from his torture, it stripped away his identity and he needed support from his squad to heal from it

In trying to make a Louisiana Gumbo-style species as background for EotE. I ended up copying GURPS Goblins, which is not a book I thought would cross over with SW.
They start as these pale, nearly featureless humanoid infants and based on the food they absorb from their environment, they gain more of those traits.
I originally wanted a crawfish-man, then I wanted a joke about him having a more human looking relative. So trying to figure that out sidetracked the design into a Catfish-man. Then I remembered GURPS Goblins weird reproduction and used mostly that.

Personally I like to see the Death Troopers of an offshoot of the Phase 0 dark trooper project. With one group using the lessons of the project to make the battle droids, while another used the idea of augmenting soldiers and it eventually evolved into Death Troopers. Though what they do I think you nailed down pretty good.

It's very much best like the other anon did to think of them more like each branch of the military having their own special forces. Special forces guys would be the navy, storm commandos being the stormtrooper corps, death troopers are more like the SS, shadow troopers are basically glowie assassins, purge fall under the inquisitors, and the dark troopers and super commandos are their own special units due to specific circumstances.

Some of the shit Pararescue do is much crazier than your average SEALs, definitely on par with Devgru (basically "advanced" Seals specializing in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue) and Delta. They have the highest attrition rate in all the US special forces if Wikipedia is to be believed.

But it is much more importantly about a different specialization. Devgru will do counter-terorrism work for example (usually more maritime focus counter-terror than, say, Delta counter-terror), while pararescue won't.

Every one of these elite units is ultimately derived from the OG special forces, namely the SAS, but they grow to specialize and focus on different things. I would expect that the Empire would do the same.

So you would absolutely have multiple different elite units depending on what the Empire needs. That is BEFORE you account for different Moffs and officers wanting their own pet special forces project, which would increase the number of units even further. AND you will have the technically civilian agencies in the Empire developing their own especially private and deniable black bag units, like the CIA does with their Special Activities Center, or the UK's E Squadron, and who will recruit out of the Stormtrooper corps, Navy, and similar sections of the Empire for their people.

They all fight over funding, one of the subplots in nu-Thrawn is about how his Defender project keeps getting throttled because Krennic has managed to secure money (so Thrawn gets Vader to support the Defender as a way of getting new lines of credit), or in Bad Batch where there was a summit involving Hemlock, Tarkin, and others meeting to discuss projects and whether they could be funded further given success or not.

If one of these Moffs or Admirals is wanting to have a personal project of some elite special forces unit, then they're going to be able to fight for it, secure, allocate, or squirrel funds, and play the field. The only thing that the Emperor cares about is results, and arguably he doesn't even care about that as long as it keeps everybody squabbling among themselves rather than plotting.

I think in the Empire it's less about what the unit does, as who they work for. ISB will 100% have it's own guys, so would any Moff rich enough to arrange for it, which would be most (example, Gideon's droids). There could be thousands of different units who work for different people, but are so similar the difference is negligible.
