>The Finnish Air Force's F/A-18 #Hornet aircraft HN-401 flew its final flight today 26.4.2024. #HN401 was displayed at the Finnish Air Force Commander's media event at the Satakunta Air Wing in Pirkkala. Following the event, the Commander flew the fighter jet to Halli, Jämsä.

>HN-401 is a fleet leader, meaning it’s been flown more than other F/A-18s during its 27+ years of service, and it’s been selected for flight missions more frequently than average, particularly those missions known to put the aircraft structure under the most strain.

>The F/A-18 fleet will be retired as planned during the transition period at the turn of the 2020s and 2030s, with the F-35 system replacing the capability of the Finnish Air Force's F/A-18 fleet between 2025 and 2030.

It'll probably go to a museum collection
The rest of the fleet, howewer...
>>
>>61499148
Probably to be replaced with that one swedish guerilla capable one.
>>
>>61503314
Does Finland build landing/turning areas into their roads like the Swedes do?
>>
>>61503423
Yes, as stated here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_strip
>>
>>61503423
Yes. More so than Swedes these days. Ironically getting rid of conscription basically killed Swedish AF capability to practice highway base operations, they basically didn't have any of their own road base operations for a decade.
>>
>>61503314
No? Finland is getting F-35s next year
>>
>>61499148
F-18s couldn't hang against Mig-25s so it's not surprising that they were forced into retirement.

>MiG-25s
shut the fuck up you stupid fucking nigger
>>
wonder if they're going to ukraine, draken international, or canada

Finland has a bit of a habit of not disclosing all the equipment they've been sending to Ukraine

Faggot bait OP.
Cut it out with the semen

A sad state of affairs when the guerrilla one would suit their purposes way better, probably them bribes working their magic

Finns bought F/A-18s after the MiG-25 became a thing.
Also what is up with the sudden MiG-25 shilling, the aircraft got retired because it was shit.

Its actually possible that some tard vatnigger actually believes shit like this even after Ukraine. Amazing.

Armatard was the primary and at times the only MiG-25 proponent on this board for many years, up until he took a long nap circa March-April 2022. I’m not saying it’s him, but…

A mig-25 shot down an USMC F-18 in 1991 with BVR fire and forget IR missiles.
>>
>>61499355
Hooray for Canada! We're getting another non-flyable parts plane for the collection!
>>
>>61504979
One F-18?
>>
>>61504988
Yes. One. In all of its decades of service, the hornet got successfully jumped exactly once. When the news came out, F-15 fanboys were shittalking all year long and slavaboos on obscure aviation and sim forums wrote whole-ass essays about how western fighters' design philosophy was wrong and how ackshually they'd get shot down by the hundreds in any hot war. It's funny how nothing ever changes.

Being built as a carrier aircraft F/A-18 is perfectly capable of filling the "guerrilla" role - its very durable, can handle low-level flight and use shitty runways. They aren't retiring all of them, just adding F-35s for more capabilities.
>>
I hope they send the ones they retire to Ukraine
>>
>>61504079
This makes no sense. Finland is too close to Russia to be getting the f-35. Russia might learn about its capabilities and radar signature. Should have gotten gripen.
>>
>>61505516
"might"
Russia is still 40 years from developing the capabilities to get a rdar lock on a F-35, and China is 75 years away.
>>
>>61505516

Norway already has F-35 and they too border Russia.
>>
>>61505125
Bro the U.S. tried to lie about it for years and say it was a SAM! Then they fucking blamed the Air Force AWACS for it and they put out some ridicules excused like it was because of "roe", and made up shit about how the Navy was going to follow it's own roe now because it didn't fucking trust the AWACS!
