The ar/k/ is a ~700gb torrent and it was last updated in 2016 For more information on the torrent itself, see >>1158811 on /t/ or the magnet link https://pastebin.com/f2c3bHNBWhat needs to be added? What needs to be updated? What needs to be removed?>inb4 oldfag just because its old doesn't mean its not good
Bump for books. Not strictly ar/k/ material but a related todo: I have a full copy of anoncafe's /k/ prior to its unceremonious deletion. The mirror was a sloppy wget job by one of their regulars, needs work to spruce up. I will probably need to post asking for people to help sift through it for books.
>>61436895the ar/k/ has a similar stack of unsorted works from anon.cafe and it would be nice to compare the file list to see what its missingin terms of the sorting, it would be better to start sooner than later so that it can be ready for the next people looking to datahoard /k/ materials
I feel like something like this only woukd work inna adjacent community, like discord, since k is not really k >>61436895What kind of books
>>61438509That's the thing, iunno. Their /k/ changed ownership and rebooted a couple times. It was deleted without warning a few weeks prior to the overall site shutdown, so it wasn't systematically grabbed like the other boards. Site shuttered on 3/15.I'm interested in setting up a new library that can be updated more sanely but I haven't had time to work on it.
>>61438672My plan is to audit all the /k/lit type threads for newer stuff.
>>61436716is this the one with the various cad files about firearms? Do we know if any of the cads have been compromised by that french activist who IIRC changed values just enough for them to not function and spread them online?
>>61436716>What needs to be added? The ar/k/ was compiled years before 3D printing took off, the best of the gatalog should be added. Especially the full auto conversions.

>>61440981There were a bunch of machine shop methods of doing it in there already.
>>61436716>>61440978>>61437098Would be best to just compile everything into one big 3.0 version (since the do/k/ument was the original) instead of just adding another separate update torrent.
>>61438679>/k/litFiction needs to be a separate torrent, put all the practical manuals and training/reference materials into the ar/k/ive after curating them for validity.
>>61442005definitely would be great to have a 3.0 version>>61443810not a bad idea, although the ar/k/ already has a good number of novels and games plus the entire first season of Upotte!! It would be kinda funny to add GuP too
>>61436895>I have a full copy of anoncafe's /k/ prior to its unceremonious deletion.Do you have that on a hard drive or a cloud server somewhere? If the latter I'd like a link if you could.
>>61448133Yea I'll make a thread. Problem is it's 60GB and most isn't /k/ but it needs separating.
>>61443810The only sane longterm strategy is just to get unique works itemized and deduped, then associate them with collections. Then people can download à la carte or grab a full torrent.Otherwise transcluding a bunch of old torrents will just result in so much duplication that it's not worth doing. And it won't be expandable.
OP, can you ballpark the total size of everything in the /t/ thread?I can bite the bullet and get to the task of indexing all the collections we need to round up for a rebooted library.

up
>>61452002nice
>>61451560according to ncdu, its ~790gb, but most of that is ETYNTKE being duped in both a tar (~100gb) and as loose files (~150gb)In terms of loose files, its ~130kit would be definitely feasable to cut ETYNTKE as well as some of the stalker games.

Bumping with an idea. Some anon linked Quickload here, and it seems to be pretty easy to install, there's no DRM to get around from what I remember. Unfortunately my computer had the windows post-update black screen of death, and I yot sick of fucking with it. Reinstalled Windows but lost everything. I will dig through the archives and try to find the links to Quickload later, and maybe write up a "for dummies" guide to getting it running for tech illiterate zoomers. I think it would be a good addition.
>>61464815only slightly more useful?I'd say that tracksmaybe they should make a SoF anime then

>>61466764It's been down for a while.>>61467277Quickload is cheap enough people should just buy it. If they want free there's Gordan's now.
>>61437098i know i'm newfagging, but what is anon.cafe?
>>61438509good point any idea on where to move it to?
>>61470602After this site went to shit back in 2014 there was a exodus to (2x4)chan, where board culture was more respected. After that got run off the clearnet just before covid happened for the crime of being the cultural heart of the dissident right, everyone scattered to various bunker boards to rebuild. Currently the popular ones have all strapped themselves together as a web ring. Anon Cafe was the second largest of them, and has the home to the most active /k/ alternative. Two months ago the owner announced he'd be shutting it down after a few weeks grace. Never said why.

>>61436895>>61437098>>61448133>>61449643Alright, I'll get to making the cafe thread this week.>>61470784The problem with altchans for us, as I see it, is this: https://desuarchive.org/k/thread/61461799/#q61463873Weapons and miltech lack the critical mass of posters to sustain smaller boards. Meanwhile, the proximity of the subject matter to armed conflict guarantees that alt /k/ will have a fairly high % of posters who were driven out of other boards because they were incapable of reigning in their schizopol tendencies. The cafe went through multiple board wipe drama cycles because they couldn't stop amplifying shit disturbers who turned half the board into meta-screeching.
I remember the day this became available and one guy was seeding to like 600 /k/ommandos. I seeded this for weeks, and to help keep it alive I posted the magnet link to some data hoarder groups, OperatorChan, basically every weapons board on every chan from the Overchan list that had one. So many different firearm manuals and like every FM and TM of the English speaking world. All the classic training vids were great, too. And the complete Upotte! series and OVA...I miss old /k/. The original uploader went to a campus computer lab or something to increase the number of full seeds. After 48 hours the download speeds for everyone were blazing with around 2000 people sharing. It was a big topic on /k/ for awhile, and those data hoarder types were like, "Great stuff, but WTF is this weird cartoon with girls who are guns?" Good times. If we're putting together a new ar/k/, let's include all the new training vids that have come out since, like the Panteao stuff produced after 2016, etc. Also updated FMs and TMs, key books published since then, 3D printer files, etc. There are also a couple dozen great gunsmithing and gun design books on libgen we could bring into one place, as well as all the books by Bryan Litz. The old ar/k/ was great, but the world has changed since 2016.
>>61475313I just revisited some old ar/k/ threads in the archive. I had forgotten the name of the /k/ torrents that came before the ar/k/ - the do/k/ument and the EYNTKNE. Just reading through those threads you can see how much better /k/ was before the Russians and Indians shit it up. All the jannies ever had to do is delete porn and the occasional duplicate thread. And we actually had memes and culture.
>>61475313I can seed at whatever speed is required.>>61475368People say this stuff but then they don't make threads. Things were better then, yeah. But the whole internet is in decline. If you get too fixated on declinism or thinking that it's something special to one site, you miss the forest for the trees.
>>61475313>>61475368God bless you oldfagsi do what i can to preserve the original board culture>>61475448>People say this stuff but then they don't make threads.This. Gotta be the change you want to see in the world, despite being a newfag myself (but at least i lurked for a while to try and assimilate before posting)
>>61475448>wop opinion gifNo one should make threads just to make threads. That's part of why nu-/k/ sucks - we don't need a new 5.7 debate thread every day. We don't need a "why don't we have powersuits?" thread everyday. I make a thread a week on average, generally on a novel topic other anons might find interesting. Gone are the days when every topic felt fresh, because over time we've beaten many, many topics to death. There is a finite amount of relevant and interesting history, finite amounts of weapons and weapons-related topics. There are only so many variations of Spurdo or memes referencing relevant historical events or doctored photos of gun youtubers until the particular formula loses its spark. Then you have everyone from British NGOs to the Russian government engaging in social engineering which actively makes the board worse. It's a tragedy of the commons - more people not only bleed the sense of a tribe or specialness, more people also attract more garbage. There are beautiful, unpolluted chans out there that aren't in decline simply because they're ignored except by those who specifically seek them out.
This seems like a relevant thread to ask.Lately I have had it in my head to collect all the tracks that use to play on the old /k/ radio.I used to have a complete file list that I got here, but have had no luck finding it in the archive. If anyone has it I would appreciate the help.In the meantime I did find this neat collection of /k/ radio wallpapers, if anyone is interested.https://imgur.com/a/qX0yE
>>61476746any idea what kind of thread it would have been in?
>>61476721Alright GentsIf you're reading this it is time for a /k/ renewalall you have to do is create one novel thread every weekMake it open endedMake it funMake it /k/Godspeed and Godbless Anons
Can't say for sure, it was in one of those "I sure miss old /k/" threads.I searched through the archives for mentions of /k/ radio or kommando radio with no luck. Most potentially helpful links in the really old threads were dead.I dug this file up, looked for matching files, didn't find any, so I'm thinking I was probably linked to it off site.

>>61476721>No one should make threads just to make threads.I agree. But the fact that you care about going somewhere new with a thread is honestly enough qualification to make more threads than feels natural to you. Look at the state of the board. A certain amount of mass is required to counteract the spam.>we don't need a new 5.7 debate thread every day. We don't need a "why don't we have powersuits?" thread everyday. Those are spam threads. They're deliberately created to be space-wasting noise. Just hide them on sight.>There are beautiful, unpolluted chans out there that aren't in decline simply because they're ignored except by those who specifically seek them out.Things have changed, man. The other day I came across a whole sh*rty spinoff dedicated to finding and ruining small chans with raids.

Just not having to deal with the CD Quickload ships on is enough of a convenience for many to justify it as far as I'm concerned. Could put GRT in there too, I just suggested Quickload because it's what I have used.
