>>7159786OH yeah, I forgot about him. I love his stuff, though I have been slacking on my figure practice. I need to get back to watching him
Some more obvious ones are:Marco BucciTrad:Paint CoachChelsea LangStephen BaumanIf you want to paint beyond 'rendering line drawings', I suggest you take the lightpill and learn from trad methods. Can post more later if you want to go deeper in that direction.
>>7159844>Can post more later if you want to go deeper in that direction.definitely do, pleaseI've been interested in traditional painting too. If there's anything like "secret knowledge" in art, it's gotta be in the books of the past masters. I've been specifically looking at Richard Schmid and Harold Speed stuff, along with Arthur Guptill's books and whatever other old, "traditional" books I can find. I don't have a lot of extra money to spend on art material though, so I've been doing it all digitally. Still, it's a struggle, and I'm constantly just looking to hear new perspectives from different artists on how to learn
>>7159844I meant to add Sinix and Craig Mullins to the more obvious ones, also Tiffanie Mang since OP asked about color:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtUPsj_B0FA>>7159863Here's the most useful stuff I've dug through over the past ~6 months, vaguely in recommended order of watching but you'll want to go back and forth to see where you're heading. A lot of these are based on portraits and still life but you'll eventually learn the subject doesn't matter (portraits, figure, still life, your own original illustrations).Morro (Digital painting)- I would consider Morro as a bridge between Bucci and Mullins.- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWlOdihvL2_9JkM6ycZVZXcIXyWWxZQ7bDaniel Ibanez (Loose digital painting, 'emulating' traditional)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtYisjwXmRk- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUuRcU19WlxbZlM-wxu3EC_fzvD0jz07_Alex Tzavaras (Alla prima tutorials)- https://www.youtube.com/@SIMPLIFYDrawingandPainting/videosTsirin88 (Brush confidence, Economic brushwork, alla prima demonstrations, several with English subtitles)- https://www.youtube.com/@Tsirin88/videos- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsdO3uxC9egDavid Shevlino (Economic brushwork)- Portrait demo live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak5a8bGlMvU- Still Life demo excerpt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k48D-n3wEKA- Still Life demo live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-x3iTeb80UZin Lim (Impressionist and expressive portraits and figure work, oil and charcoal)- https://www.youtube.com/@zinlimart/videosLeng Jun demonstrations (Direct painting (no sketch/underpainting), alla prima)- https://search.bilibili.com/all?vt=32940960&keyword=%E5%86%B7%E5%86%9B&from_source=webtop_search&spm_id_from=333.1007&search_source=5&duration=4- Various on youtube:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0ypFVRpJkY- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xy6m2bc6lg

>>7160747How do you study his books? I've read them, but he doesn't tell you how to practice or apply that knowledge.
