Seen people screeching about it in threads here, but it recently hit my browser and I don't see the issue.

It actually leverages it being on a computer with the grid layout for videos, and makes reading comments while watching easier. I feel like if this was the default, and we switched to the old one, people would be calling it mobile cancer because of things being stacked, and how much you have to scroll. But now this is bad because new.

Any webpage that can't run on 1 GB ram is objective shit.

Iirc, there was a time when jootube video stayed on top while I doomscroll the comment section.
But I like this one too. Probably the only UI change I liked for quite some time.

just the browser will need more than that to run these days
>>
>>100127186
True but this is more a fault of JavaScript and modern web development overall.
>>
I hate having the video up, and on the bottom theres random random videos peeking just to distract me.

I just dont understand anything about youtube UI, its user friendly in some ways but retarded in others. Its kinda like windows, you could have users being able to customize the UI but thats not a priority for the shareholders so.

I have a 5900x and a 6600xt with 32gb of RAM
When I watch a youtube stream with the chat enabled, it lags like absolute ass and eventually crashes because it just cannot handle it.
Theatre mode is not the same thing anymore.
The only thing consistent about Youtube is that every single time it gets worse. I don't know how that's possible, but they manage to find a way to make it shittier with every redesign.

It sounds like you've had a positive experience with the new YouTube layout, which is great to hear! Different users have different preferences, so it's natural that opinions vary. As long as it enhances your browsing and viewing experience, that's what matters most.

I wouldn't complain if they gave me the option to turn it off. I don't like it because it demands way too much screen real estate, makes the comment text too small, makes the video titles too small, and is the complete reverse of what its been for 18 years. I'm used to the old one I shouldn't have to switch.

Yes, it's terrible. I got a CSS fix immediately for it, now it's business as usual.
