It's weird when viewin through eyes of capitalism: they did not want to keep their paying Windows 7 customers but instead tried everything to destroy Windows 7 based Windows usage. And then eventually forget there ever even was a Windows 7.

Microsoft is a weird company.

Here's evidence that they tried to actively destroy it:
-creating a Visual Studio 2019-2022 runtime that is installable to Windows 7
(notice how this now replaces the sole 2019 runtime that does not include 2020, 2021 and 2022, this 2019 is unavailable now)

Making Windows 7 sluggish through updates, it worked best up until year 2014 (or 2013) but then year 2015 and 2016 updates make it a lot slower than what it used to be.

Microsofts own build tools being non compatible with Windows 7 since 2022. If you create a executable project with Visual 2022 it wont work with Win7 it needs Windows 8 or later.

>paying windows 7 customers
You're not a paying customer though. You paid them one time a long time ago, and if you just use that forever then what? They need you to pay them again. If you switch to something else it really doesn't matter because you weren't paying them anyway.

Paying?
If they paid at all it was a one time payment.
>>
>>100124217
It was possible to buy Win 7 as a DVD disc that came with a serial number and it was installable onto any computer (but of course two computers with the same serial cannot appear at internet at the same time, or the one that was activated later than the first one would appear as illegal copy)

No shit sherlock. They realized this with XP.

Windows is backwards-compatible, not forwards-compatible. You may as well complain that your new app won't run on NT 3.1.
>>
>>100124531
the joke here is that it is incompatible only because microsoft changed win64 executable requirement to have at minimum a windows 8 GUI

this means windows 7 and windows XP gui parts are not included in a modern executable they are completely removed

they did not abslutely HAD to do that but they did anyway so people wouldnt try using 2022+ software in Win7

it costs them more to maintain windows 7 support than money is given to me of course they would shaft it. Its not weird at all especially when windows >10 have much tighter cloud integration i.e. opportunity for more service subscriptions to be sold. I am still using office 2007 fuck them.

Not really. They make near zero money selling W7 in 2024. Most people who use it pirate it. I agree that Microsoft is le bad but your entire post is pure cope. Just use linux if you're such a fucking power user.

Windows 7 was a software product. Utterly unprofitable in the long term.
Windows 8 and forward are SaaS (Software as a Service). Those are profitable, and allow to fuck over the end-user at every turn.

>No company should support something that long
This crosses the line into directly trying to sink it. If a company doesn't want to support their product anymore, then they should just open source it and let it sink or swim at the whims of whatever community it has accrued.
If their new product was actually better, then it wouldn't matter.

Arch explicitly didn't have the vulnerability even though it installed the backdoored version of the package because it didn't link openssh to lzma.

the goal of the merchants is not to please their customers. it's to earn money and establish a monopoly with their friendly civil servants and create a dishonest propaganda that the interest of the merchant is exactly the interest of the client.

Now they are doing everything in their power to kill Windows 10, they dont care about windows anymore, Windows 11 was created to harvest as much data as possible, especially now with AI dogshit going on, thats why they are so forceful with trying to get people off of windows 10 and onto windows 11, sad reality is a lot of normies will switch to 11 and a lot of functional computers on landfills, a part will switch to linux/mac and probably never look back, which is what im doing, fuck that faggy ass pajeet company and their software

windows 7 turns into winxp GUI components if Aero is disabled

those components of course have been converted into 64 bit compatibility in win7

so actually xp gui was not restricted to winxp
also windows server editions did not have aero but the xp gui components

Not exactly, Windows classic isn't a 1:1 translation of XP's interface.

anyway it certainly uses somekind of components not used by aero and which seem to be compatible with winxp

we dont see hatred on win8 only laughter towards it (its justified laughter too)

Windows 7 is dead since years and baby ducks won't change that by kicking its dead body. Nowdays you have to jump through multiple hoops to boot it and fire up a working web browser. Its okay if you are an unemployed disappointment who hasn't left his basement for years but not if you are somewhat normal member of the society. People suggested a simple solution to you guys for a long time, including the rufus trick to bypass windows 11 requirements, installing ltsc or even linux but you rejected all of those out of pride, lazyness or your tech-illiteracy. You are truly the most pathetic minority on /g/. The only "people" who can go lower than you are those robo-waifu coomers.

>>
>>100123336
It's not strange. They made a pretty good OS, you paid for it once. They want you to move to the next one. It's the same with everything.

You buy anything, a few years later the company will want you to buy the next one. That's why everything breaks these days.

>Making Windows 7 sluggish through updates
This is industry standard for software. part of it is just "lazyness" (money grubbing and retardation) but on locked-down platforms, the intentional slowdowns are very obvious.
>>
>>100126905
I don't hate Windows 7, or really even 10. I just hate what Microsoft is doing to it's userbase. I got tired of all the bullshit and just switched to loonix

groundwork of XP was laid on Win NT 4 (1995)
the final form of NT 4 was win2000 (1999)

xp was rewrite of 2000 with maybe 20% of new thrown in

vista started the generation of windowses which would evolve into 10

yes, NT 6 was ahead of its time and it has proven itself so (we all still use it)
