They took the AI hype train.
>>
Oh no, optional features. The horror!
>>
>>100114485
I'm sick of being forced to use "AI" in literally fucking everything these days. Why is there never any option to disable this shit?
>>
>>100114485
They all have. Brave did the same thing. No one browser is safe from the AI scourge.
>>
Honestly, it will be something people will wait for a browser. It's okay if you consider it bloat, but for you to be coherent, you should consider machine translation functionality bloat as well.
>>
>>100114509
Nope it's going to be everywhere because when everything goes through AI, they (the people who train the AI) will have total control over all information.
>>
>>100114775
To add to that, it won't be surprising if they start making the browser AI automatically rewrite every single webpage without telling you. Maybe there will be a little notification icon or something that says "This page was slightly modified to remove harmful content" but I wouldn't count on that.
It's better than outright blocking webpages because most people won't know the page has been modified, and those that do won't know what's been modified.
>>
God fucking dammit I just switched to Firefox last week because it was the only browser that didn't have AI shit.
>>
>>100114798
Didn't mozilla literally write an add on to replace "slurs" with less offensive words? I can see them doing something like this with ai to completely modify the contents of any webpage it deems to be unsafe.
>>
>>100114854
That's not gonnna happen, Baker got fired and they could never afford the API bill anyway.
>>
>>100114485
Librewolf will most likely patch this out.
>>
>>100114798
>To add to that, it won't be surprising if they start making the browser AI automatically rewrite every single webpage without telling you. Maybe there will be a little notification icon or something that says "This page was slightly modified to remove harmful content" but I wouldn't count on that.
I've been saying for years that this is exactly what's going to happen, but retards on 4chan keep screaming "NUH UH! AI IS LE BASED BECAUSE IT MAKES TRANNIES ON TWITTER SEETHE!"
>>
>>100114485
is it a extension or baked into firefox? Maybe they can finally get up their lazy ass and fix their pdf viewer its fucking slow and lacks basic features.
>>
>>100114898
Baked into firefox. You can test it for yourself:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-larch/
>>
>>100114485
Dropped is true.
>>100114505
It’s a bloat.
>>
>>100114898
>their pdf viewer its fucking slow and lacks basic features
huh? like what? it kicks the shit out of the chromium one and adobe reader
>>
>>100114798
>It's better than outright blocking webpages
Not it's not. Outright blocking shit pisses people off and makes them want to see what they fucking asked for. Censoring shit and not even telling you about it changes the message and you don't even realize you didn't get what you asked for.
>>
>>100115012
its slow lacks annotation features and regularly shits the bed when opening semi large files. I have a 500mb pdf opens instantly on okular and I can jump anywhere does not work with firefox. I could live with that if their android port wasn't so bad as well its sucks even more.
>>
>>100115042
That's what he meant.

wrong. also you can fill forms in it for free and even edit PDFs now. it's so good I installed it on chrome via an extension before switching to Firefox.

It's not 1993 anymore.

>bloat that makes fagfox even more time-consuming to compile and fork = good
>>100114898
Why don't they make all these features official add-ons? You could bundle all the Pozillaslop you want into the official package, and leave a minimal version for others to use if they wish or fork. Like an operating system you can download a minimal ISO for or the full version with a DE + other utils

anon......... browser are the definition of bloat not having this will make no difference than having it.
>>

It queries a fucking API. What are you talking about? If that's too much for you to compile then there's no way you were ever going to compile a web browser in the first place.
>>
>>100114485
>to your AI chat choice (e.g. localhost)
that sounds fine for me. using my local LLM? what's bad about that?
>>
>>100115767
So it doesn't run locally? Still bad, just for different reasons.

it is the fruit of the poisoned tree. Coomers love it and it tastes sweet as sin to watch people choke on it, but at the end of the day it is the foundation being laid to make the lives of ourselves and our descendants utterly miserable in ways that can only be guessed - like an info-mercial combined with a spam call, modified to follow you on the web and every possible medium of info it can, just for the sake of manipulating you for some stupid goal.
>>
>>100115042
I meant better for the people doing the AI. Whoever they are.
>>
>>100115169
there is no link preview no way to turn a single page annotations suck ass you cannot play media files etc. its missing loads of features that would be easily implemented. No I will not build it myself I hate having to put up js.

So don't enable it.

I don't know what features they're adding to Firefox but I don't see any of it in their source code yet.

I do as PDF.
Can I trust that whoever I send .tex files to has TeX Live installed and knows how to compile a document? Of course not. Some of my LaTeX documents are split into multiple .tex files with \include and have images embedded with graphicx - that would be attaching many files.
>>
>>100114509
because they have to keep the AI bubble hype train going. The end goal is to have all the normie NPC's buying AI service subscriptions.
>>
>>100114936

And then browse the web using what? Manifest V3 Chronium? Firefox is shitty, but the alternatives are still even shittier.

I don't see it in their source. It's not in my build of Firefox, so what's the issue?

AI is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
>>
>>100114775
That's what I've been saying. All the billions being dumped into this glorified chatbot are just for the next generation of manipulation tools used in social media. Now they can manipulate everything outside of social media, too. Oh and make the consumer do the processing on their machines, using their electricity.
>>
>>100130535
There are useful applications of AI. Any integration with browsers needs to be done carefully though. It's encouraging that there's a localhost option.
