Would you consider most animated films to be legitimately great or are they "great for animated films"? Like if Megamind was a live action film would it still be as highly regarded as it is now?
>>143337015>Would you consider most animated films to be legitimately greatLike most forms of entertainment most aren’t great at all. Now, great animated films? They’re great films, no if ands or buts about it. its just that there are simply many many MANY less great animated films than there are great films. In that image only the incredibles and toy story are great. Maybe shrek 1. Everything else is good at best and the rest are mediocre to bad.
>>143337052>Shrek 1>Better than Wall-E, Kung Fu Panda 2, Megamind and UPWhat the fuck are you smoking?
>>143337073>Panda 2 better than Shrek 1You're fucking kidding me
>>143337015>Like if Megamind was a live action film would it still be as highly regarded as it is now?No. But most great live action movies would make for mediocre books. You shouldn't compare media like this.
OP pic was clearly made before 2012. No characters from Brave and Rise of the Guardians.
>>143337015Most animated films are generic popcorn drivel. Only a handful of them are great or even good, and most of those are at least 25 years old or much, much older.
In an alternate timeline, the african elephant Tusker is among those DreamWorks characters. Remember, this was supposed to be their next CG movie after Shrek 1. They had this project in the back of their minds when making Shrek 1.
Pretty much everything Dreamworks and Pixar have done are slop. Enjoyable slop but still by the numbers

>>143337073It absolutely is. Undebatably so. Young sound like you’re a zoomer who thinks becoming a meme means something is bad. >>143337120Neither of those are great films.
Whether you like it or not, the first Shrek is one of the best animation movies ever.https://youtu.be/EsqpVl0TVek?feature=shared
>>143337291You sound like*
>>143337015I would say that from Pixar, WALL-E, Toy Story 1/2 and Finding Nemo are "genuinely great films"On the Dreamworks side I would grant How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek 1/2 that title.
DreamWorks did make 2D movies at one point. Pixar never did. Granted, that 2D era didn't last long. The Prince of Egypt performed below expectations, Road to El Dorado went overbudget after experiencing major story issues and ended up being a box office flop, and Spirit/Sinbad (both released after Shrek 1) didn't do well at box office either. No logical reason to keep making 2D movies.
