For posterity and in case things like reverse image search do not work, give due credit to those who create Rei's images by indicating author and/or source if known.Discussion always welcome, but offer an image, if available.>Previous thread:>>4322440>General archive:https://pastebin.com/nzPXrU5D
>>4324398Alas, it's nice to meet you, but I do worry about him. He stopped posting here shortly after the war began. I hope Rei has kept him safe. Yes, our love of her spans the globe and unites men otherwise divided. I'd reckon there are even some of us on Antarctica. Also, to the anon that maintains the Mega folders, sorry for only using yours to start this thread off. I don't have access to my own archives at the moment.
I did not care for evangelion
>>4325639But did you care for the best and sweetest girl Rei?
>>4325741Why ask someone who knows nothing about what is most important to life?
>>4325638Yes. Possibly drafted to fight. I wouldn't know, but it's there. We are all Anonymous to each other. He may be here. And he may be away.
>>4325964Sadly I suspect as much; I remember him saying something like the circumstances were getting worse where he lived, so I assumed he is somewhere in your southern or central districts. I hope and pray daily that our nations do not come to blows out of this war, especially since both are nuclear armed. But perhaps our world must end some day, and that will be how it happens. I don't know, not my place to know.
>>4325977I always try to visit these threads and post Rei and see the life in a lifeless place, but I don't quite remeber what your firend was known for, here. I've seen some of his posts, but is there something vital I should know? To know what's going on.
>>4325980Horrible spelling. Guess my first language kicked in.*remember*friend
>>4325980He was my partner on a project we started a few years ago together, the Apophthegmata Reiae, intended be a website repository for all the sayings of Rei in the series and comparing the translations for future research. He did Russian and Interslavic, I was doing English and Japanese. Life happened and I haven't been able to work on it (may change soon) while he said he had to lay low for a while and couldn't check these threads anymore. He hasn't been here since.I actually just wrote to the e-mail he gave back then, and sadly it's no longer active. I fear the worst for him. I hope some day to hear from him here again. But my memory of those days also drives me to restart the project as soon as I can. Especially if something has happened to him to honour his memory.
>>4325998This was his last post. His work is still up: https://pastebin.com/x8zyHppm.
>>4325998Thank you. It really means a lot to know more of this community. But did you know/met him physically? Or were you guys like communicating over the internet. And please do choose how you see fit to respond. I do not wish to intrude the things you value and want to keep private. If you don't want to talk about it then I won't bother you. It juse seemed right to ask.
>>4325999Yes I remember seeing that too and wondering if he was going to post more or not.>>4326001*just
>>4326001It's fine. We never got the chance to meet in person, and I regret not talking to him more now. I can only hope he is alright. I theoretically could go to Russia on student business perhaps, but without more info I would never find him. So all I can do is see if he shows up again at some point.>>4326004He did send me the Russian dub he was using, so at some point maybe I can finish his work. I would like to finish the project in general some time in the next few years, so long as the world is still here...
>>4326009The funniest thing is that everything has a reason, but it's met with the fact that in war all reason is abandoned. It levels things out and the base is "Hell on Earth".And even if you keep your sanity. The trauma and stress from trying to keep your sanity makes you go insane. It makes sense in a sense that doesn't make sense. Now that's funny.
>>4326010It's the cynicism bred by conflict. It echoes throughout history. I have not yet been in combat, but I know exactly what you mean. Especially >The trauma and stress from trying to keep your sanity makes you go insaneMen have always killed each other, waged war, even before we had tools; look at chimpanzees that still do. I don't honestly see an end to it. Things so quickly go out of control. That's what I was trained to recognize, how suddenly you can go from calm to chaos, then back to calm, and that's part of what drives you mad... Much more could be said but probably already has by somebody smarter than me.Also, what did you mean by 'see the life in a lifeless place' above >>4325980?
>>4326016>see the life in a lifeless placeI mean this place. There is no life yet it moves. It has no sound, but when you read the replies and conversations between us and others that bare the name "Anonymous" we imagine what the other one would be saying and thinking while they type that reply and it brings life. But even that is twisted and turned by conflict. For example the bots or AI. A place that is known for anti-social individuals inhabiting it sure has more life than other platforms that position themselves as "For Socialising". Again we come back and fourth. "Lifeless place that has life" or "sense that doesn't make sense". It's said in a way that only a person that says those words within and let's those words echoe within the empty space within his mind can understand. In that way even meaningless war can make sense. Some things are just forged in insanity to be understood.
>>4326100Rei Ayanami dubs!

>>4326100I enjoy your line of thought. You touch on reasons I enjoy this place and have for many years in place of other online avenues, and you also remind me of a certain Slovenian philosopher in your 'sense without sense' etc. comments. If you feel like it, write to me sometime and we can talk in longer formats than permitted here: reianon@pm.me. If nothing else, I hope you write beyond on here, since what you say is interesting and there is space out there for such thought.
>>4326175Thank you. The most important thing even above "interesting" or "philosophical" are the reasons behind said things. Without it being true it has no meaning and becomes a host for lies and misinformation that bring conflict. In short a "False Ideology" that is mostly used to create more conflict.
>>4326198I think you refer to the problem of acting in bad faith rather than good, which indeed breeds conflict because of its inherent duplicity. In which case yes, I agree.
>>4326200These things are great because most secrets are clothed in shadow. The greatest achievement is knowing of the real truth. The truth that holds all truths. Because then the little truths no longer matter and peace from searching is achieved. As for the bad faith it is mostly to blame for the "little truths" or secrets that are made. Things that don't matter mostly and are like thrown thorns on the road to finding the real truth.
>>4326204I'm not that Anon and maybe I'm too dumb to engage with philosophy, but something that makes me a Rei lover is how exceptionally honest she is compared to the rest of the characters in Evangelion. She doesn't tell lies; she shares her thoughts and what she believes other people need to hear. The only thing that holds her back is her lack in understanding the human condition.
>>4326206Well she is a clone of Yui and that's why her affection to Gendo existed and her obedience was the influence by the Third Impact's need to happen. The rest were just stones along the sidewalk. She could interact so she did in her own way.
>>4326212>Well she is a clone of Yui and that's why her affection to Gendo existedIs that really true? Rei is her own person; I always assumed she liked Gendo because he superficially treated her like a daughter to manipulate her and she hadn't known anyone else that closely.
>>4326213Right. Not denying the fact that he did manipulate her, but the cloning had a possibility of giving some of the traits Yui had that are on the inside and not always just looks. Rei had traits that were very alike the ones we saw Yui have before her "death". And the whole "Hag" thing was all orchestrated by Yui from the EVA Unit 01 because it would make Ritsuko's mother to commit suicide.
>>4326215Cont.When Gendo was lying down with one arm ripped off he saw Yui, Rei and Kaworu appear. Yui and Rei may be indeed two different people, but both are very alike in soul. But both appearing in front of Gendo symbolized the cooperation into making the Third Impact happen.
>>4325632I love having long hair, but there was a certain span of time when my hair was exactly the length and the literal exact same shape as Rei's, and I kind of miss it.
>>4325632I love her <3
