“Joshi” in Japanese means “girl”.
It does not refer to women’s wrestling in Japan.
No one ever calls women’s wrestling in Japan “joshi”.
It's an informal shorthand made up by people who didn't have a clue.
It’s not proper language and anyone calling Japanese women’s wrestling “joshi” is a false fan casual.
The actual proper shorthand for women’s wrestling (joshi puroresu) in Japan is “Joshiwresu”.
