sup /o/, possible retard here hoping to get some help. largely inexperienced here, i've only replaced the thermostat on this charger twice, as well as a fuel pump on an 86 jag. >2013 charger, AWD, 3.6L >unsure what trim, father put R/T badges on I use my father's charger for work as I don't have my own car, odometer has ~138k miles. Automatic trans, car no longer shifts out of park and the computer seems to think the car isn't in park so it won't turn off entirely. I've disconnected the battery for ~31 minutes to reset the computer, and I've checked the fuses (fuse 9 and fuse 48), neither of which appear burnt or blown. google comes up with a handful of things >ignition switch car starts, very doubtful >park/neutral position sensor haven't gotten to it yet >wheel speed sensor also haven't gotten to it >fuses 9 and 48 not blown/burnt >disconnect battery/reset computer issue persists I came home from work yesterday, car shifted and turned off without issue. I have one event I suspect may have lead to this. I took a right turn a little tight and the rear passenger wheel climbed and dropped a curb at 5-10 mph. I wasn't looking at the speedo, but I was pulling in to park. I went to sleep, during which my father went to use the car and from there it wouldn't move. 3 of 4 tire pressure sensors have issues, but I'd figured those problems are very low priority.

Auto chads I need help I have a £16k budget and I’m looking to upgrade from my A4 1.4. Ideally I was looking to get something higher up as I’m tall. I have found a few options. -2021 Skoda Karoq SE L - 35k miles - Manual - 1.5 150 - Silver body - No virtual cockpit just standard - £14500 -2022 SEAT Ateca SE Tech - 26k miles - Manual - 1.5 150 - Black body - Again standard cockpit - £16000 -2021 Cupra Formentor V1 - 36k miles - Auto DSG - 1.5 150 - Black body - £16000 I have a medium sized dog that I will take on hikes in the boot of the car. No kids yet. But the ride height and practicality of a bigger SUV are nice, but the trims look basic as shit and boring. The Cupra is sexy and fun to drive at least. I’m torn and it’s a hard decision to make. Any /o/ chads have experience with these motors?

Fat Wife doesn't fit in Nissan Z NISMO: A few months ago, I purchased a dream car, a new 2024 Z NISMO. I love the car, but it has very aggressively bolstered Recaro seats. The problem is that my soon to be wife (getting married in October) doesn't fit in the car. Since I met her 9 years ago, she's put on a considerable amount of weight (140 - 310 lbs). The last 20 or so of that has been since I bought the car, and she kind of confronted me about it yesterday asking me if I would consider selling and getting a sporty SUV or something because she's getting too big to comfortably fit in the car. Right now, she kind of sits "on top" of the heavy bolsters which is obviously not comfortable. I've always driven small sports cars and dont really want an SUV. Has anyone else been in this situation and if so what did you do? She has a Tesla, so it's not like we dont have a car that we can be in together.

Modern Route 66 Trip: What are the dos and don'ts? And what's it like to do it in 2008+17? In 3 months I'll be doing a Route 66 Trip. Starting in Chicago and ending in Santa Monica, and then back again. A little impromptu as I just found out I'll have the time and money to do it. I'll also be doing it on a motorcycle, my Grandpa's 06 Road King, so that adds another layer of planning. Who here has done it recently or in general? What are all the places to hit (especially outside of the major landmarks and attractions)? What should I prep for the trip (I've done long motorcycle trips, but never through multiple climates and biomes or by myself)? What should I expect?

Can't bleed brakes on a 2013 Chevrolet Impala >Rear caliper was leaking, replaced >Front caliper was frozen, replaced >Bled brakes, but pedal still went to floor >Was told master cylinder was ran dry >Replaced master cylinder, bench bled >Fluid at all four corners, no air bubbles anywhere >Pedal still goes to floor, brakes are weak enough idling pushes through them I've tried my pressure bleeder, but unfortunately a seal must be out as it's pushing air. Gave up on that I've tried manually bleeding with a hose and bottle, no luck I've tried following the ABS self bleeding procedure, no luck I've tried having a helping hand assist with push push push hold, no luck - solid stream Wtf am I doing wrong. I bled the master cylinder, replaced it with a new one and bled it, and still, no brakes I thought maybe I suck at bench bleeding so I cracked the fittings open and had assistance pushing fluid out of the master cylinder, but still no brakes I'm about to say fuck it and send it to the shop, but how it'll have to be towed as it won't stop

Anyone else Hate these Boomer Pro-Touring builds? damn near all muscle cars I see now are "Pro-Touring" 90% of them are too afraid to do anything beyond autocross. And they suck ass at autocross. The 10% that do track days drive 30 seconds off the pace and slow everyone down. I drove a $200,000 SpeedTech built 1967 Camaro and it handled like absolute dog shit. Estonian Theater Stages Unique Romeo and Juliet Play with Construction Vehicles as Actors: Estonian theater Kinoteater recently staged one of the most unusual versions of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” featuring heavy-duty vehicles as actors and a limestone quarry as the stage. “Romula ja Julia” was a nearly wordless performance that relied on the movements and interactions of dozens of vehicles to convey the classic love story. Romeo was represented by a rally truck, while Juliet was a red Ford pickup truck, and the climactic duel between Tybalt and Mercutio was interpreted by two excavators dangling their metal buckets in front of each other. Designed as one big experiment about what it means to stage a Shakespearean classic today and whether artists can find new ways to do it, Romula ja Julia attracted international attention because of its unusual cast. This time, the story’s characters are brought to life by excavators, a front-end loader, a concrete mixer, a fire truck, city buses and other large machinery, with a few smaller vehicles as well — for example, the role of Julia is played by a red Ford Ranger 4×4 pickup truck making its stage debut,” co-director Henrik Kalmet told ERR News. Meanwhile, co-director Paavo Piik explained that the contrast between the powerful vehicles and the themes of love and poetry is central to the production’s experimental approach, as it tries to answer whether it is possible to deliver emotions with machines instead of actors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REuz-3NaqiE https://www.odditycentral.com/events/estonian-theater-stages-unique-romeo-and-juliet-play-with-construction-vehicles-as-actors.html

Tesla vs other Electric Cars: I’ll be honest… gun to my head, if I have to make the switch to an electric vehicle, it’ll be a Tesla sedan. The problem with Tesla specifically is the forced minimalism, I actually prefer having buttons for things, and other things like turn signal / wiper stocks and non-touch gear selection. Other than that, though? The cars are powerful, charge fast, have high range, and are reasonably priced. Every other brand out there, from companies like Lucid to Polestar, are overpriced and don’t have the same performance. The oversees Chinese competitors from BYD and the like are basically glorified zero-emission taxi cabs, just the most basic quality and functions to keep them affordable. The old guard brands who joined the EV market are also overpriced and don’t perform that well, even if they have better quality interiors. So really, even though Elon is a gargantuan manchild, why does Tesla still remain the best option for EV consumers?

How nightmarish is replacing vinyl tops?: So I recently snagged up a moneypit landyacht (84 Olds Regency), and the vinyl top, as all classic cars that have been sitting in the elements for 40+ years, is pretty well trashed. Sides are okay, but the top is roached. Thankfully the roof itself isn't trashed, though I can feel some small rust holes starting on a few corners on the pillars. How horrible is the job? I'm not against tearing it off and just color matching with the rest of the car, but I'm not sold on the resulting look.

China Beats America At Its Own Jet-Age Futurism Game With Wonderful Buick Orbit Concept: https://www.jalopnik.com/1937776/buick-orbit-concept-china-futurism/ >China has been Buick's most important market for years, making up 70% of the brand's sales. Buick offers advanced luxury models in China like the Century van and Electra sedan, with the Chinese market also getting EV and extended-range hybrids that Buick doesn't offer in America. Earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show Buick revealed the Electra GS concept, a large sedan with centaur-inspired design, but now there's a new Buick concept from GM China, and it's an absolute stunner. Called the Electra Orbit, the company says it's "a dreamlike expression of creativity and technological ambition—an artistic exploration that stretches the boundaries of Buick design and hints at what the future could hold." Developed by the GM China Advanced Design Center, the Orbit takes inspiration from the jet age of the 1950s, drawing from things like sci-fi spaceships.

Front Wheel Drive? Is it Time?: Anons, I come to you needing advice. I have a problem. My Grand Marquis might be on it's last legs, and I may have to get another car soon. I am fairly poor, and not looking to spend more than $5k on a car. Even that seems like a lot to me. My first car was a 99 Buick LeSabre, and while it was a fine vehicle, once I got my Lincoln Town Car, I realized the innate superiority of rear wheel drive. I basically made a personal vow never to drive a front wheel drive car again. Also, the only time I ever got in an accident was in a fwd vehicle. However, due to my current situation, and the lack of good cheap rwd cars, I am thinking about betraying my principles and getting a front wheel drive car if I can find one that either looks interesting or is supremely comfortable. For the purposes of this discussion, I don't really consider FWD-based all wheel drive systems to be any better. It's all front wheel drive to me. Also, before anyone asks, yes, I could just get another panther platform car for a good price with low miles, but I'm tired of the panther platform. I got a Town Car when I was 17, and I got rid of that and got a Grand Marquis when I was 27. I'm 34 now. I want to drive a non-panther platform car as my daily driver for the first time in 17 years

Whenever I see a BRZ/86 or a Miata I always make sure to loudly talk about how great the handling is. In truth, they are slow cars and a bit underwhelming but if you're broke and it's all you can afford it's fine. I just want the less fortunate to feel good about their car. I am just glad they're excited about cars and their car. And hey, at least they aren't talking about how their Camry or 3800 bullshit beater crap car is secretly a sleeper. I consider this a charitable initiative. I even correct people loudly in front of the owners saying "but the handling is why this car is special. It's made for curves" Just stay the fuck out of the left lane.

What was the lowest point for American auto manufacturers? I'm talking about build quality and reliability as a whole.

Am I wrong to obsess over four-cylinder motorcycles?: I've only ridden a 300cc parallel twin and a couple larger v-twins. But I can't shake off the obsession to get a four-cylinder bike. Much of it is a sort of FOMO because a lot of people talk about the death of these engines due to emissions regulations and manufacturing cost, but also because of the smoothness (again, I've never ridden one or even revved one so I don't actually know how much smoother they are). I also know they're not as forgiving as twins when it comes to being at the proper RPM. Am I being delusional? Will an inline-four motor be as cool as I imagine it in my head? Should I get one if only to cure my FOMO? I am mainly referencing the CB650R with e-clutch, if it matters.

ultimate get-away car: my hot take: Police spec but civilian looking Explorer. Keep the steel wheels but add hub-caps. Loss the search like BUT include a kwik-klip on fake police style push grill and kwik-konnect real police light bar AND some magnitik kop door panels and "call 911" stickers, and related graphics in case you need a Pig pASS. I figure they would be about best in real world get away driving with decent speed and handling, but able to handle rough stuff, and quite a bit of room for a few guys in body armor, guns, loot and maybe even a hostage or two. But still pretty generic and soccer mom. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/america-s-most-notorious-jewel-thief-breaks-down-the-perfect-getaway-car?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us

No more Escape from Ford!: Ford will discontinue production of the Escape. Seems like they are just making it all the higher-margin Bronco Sport as they made no announcement on the future of that (near identical) model. Escape takes the crown for "actually has a worse interior than even the Rav4" - I mean just look at it - this is awful. Are they going to renovate the interior? Give it a better engine? Less dowdy looks? No, just get rid of it. Escape wasn't really competitive with its peers and the new Rav4 will eat its lunch. So, apparently they are gonna replace it with an EV - I don't get how they have these massive budgets to waste on awful cars nobody wants. They act like EVs are the future - but really its just a way to sell more expensive, less practical cars that most are not interested in due to their limitations.

New hypercar: Garagisti & Co GP1 is an Italian-British hypercar. It's gonna have a 789 hp 6.6 l na V12 that revs up to 9000 rpm, Carrera GT inspired interior, no screens, only weight 1000 kg and cost 2,450,000 pounds.

Maserati Cambiocorsa Coupe: Are these really that big of pieces of shit? I don't understand what is so bad about them. You're getting a beautiful body, nice interior, modern suspension brakes, etc. proper stick shift, decent amount of power and a v8 built by ferrari for like 25K, and not only that it's a cross plane, not a flat plane so it actually sounds good like american cars. what problems do they have specifically? could one not daily this?

The boomers were right: >Car gets a bit hot a few times >Fan keeps scraping on the fan shroud >I can't fix it, the shop can't fix it, nobody can make it line up properly >Previous owner hit something once and I guess it was just enough to mess with the radiator alignment >Say fuck it >New aluminium radiator from amazon >16 inch electric fan >Wire it all up >Not enough cooling at idle >Radiator pukes coolant into the transmission >800 dollars later the transmission is flushed and I have a replacement amazon radiator >Buy aluminum fan shroud that barely fits >Somehow get it anchored in place >Stays cool at idle now >Not enough cooling for climbing hills >233 degree coolant temp after a minor amount of driving uphill Fuck it. I'm going to put the engine fan back, mount this fan shroud in here, somehow, and make it line up even if I have to use a thousand zipties. I'm done. The boomers were right. You'd have to be a retard to swap an engine fan for an electric one. It's me. I'm retard. Don't be me. I'm a thousand dollars deep into this.

What would be the best vehicle for full time car dwelling and nomad lifestyle all together. pic related is what I currently have, it’s great, but has limitations, even if I were to get a lift kit and some good all terrain tires. And I feel like it being a hybrid makes it less reliable and harder to work on if something happens. I’ve been in the Prius for 2 years now, but I’m kind of wanting a 4Runner, it’s just the gas bit kills me for them. I was also considering an Outback Give me your opinions and suggestions

Acura: Were they ever in the discussion of having at least one class-leading vehicle in the luxury segment? >their main selling point up until the 2000s or so was having the most bang for your buck >their main selling point now is using "performance" to make up for strides they lost in keeping up with other luxury brands I feel like modern Acura is closer to Mazda than they are to Lexus.

2012 lexus gs250 - literally the best possible car buy on the market right now for a comfy but still sensibly priced 4 door car Exterior looks: Fairly normal, understated, professional. Euro competitors might win here Interior looks: Absolutely perfect, delightful. One of the best ever done. Engine: 2.5L v6 200hp, good power and still economical Compared to equivalent euro rivals, it's got a nicer interior (in my opinion), will be cheaper to buy & maintain, and won't give you the 'insecure trying to impress other people' look am I missing something?

Oversized cars: What's the point of having oversized pickup while living in urban area? It's not utility vehicles at this point, and most aren't even using at as such. Nearly all of them are major douche-bags, and lack real driving and parking skills. It's a dick compensation thing, isn't it?

Getting into local car scene: So there's a car I see a few times a month on my way to work. Their car is hard to miss because of the color and custom license plate. They have their ig account stickered to their car and when I checked it out it had picks of them going to local car meets and hanging out with other car guys. Would it be weird to dm them on ig and see if I can get into the scene and drive around with them? I'd really like to because I always have fun driving with them when I see them in the morning and I really want to get in my local car scene but I don't know what the protocol is here.

Buying a Caterham: I'm going to be getting one of these soon but I am not a fan of the Duratec option. I spoke to a sales rep that claims he can change the engine option. Have you driven one of these? Have you driven one WITHOUT a Duratec engine? If so, what was in there and how did you like it? What engine would you want in this light weight chassis? Looking for performance and reliability as this will be a track day car that I drive to and from the track. And yes, I will be taking it to work.

I have a 2015 Honda Civic and the maintenance reminder is telling me I need an oil change and transmission fluid. How long can I go before I need to get this service? It tells me I've driven 2,000 miles past the recommended service time. Should I get it looked at ASAP or can I wait another week before I get my car looked at?

The Shakes: 2008 Rav4 2.0 VVTi Shakes and whirling noise (from the rear). Happens between 50-60mph when not on the gas, if accelerating, noise and shakey-shakes not there. Don't tell me it's wheel bearings, as I've just changed them all and problem remains. Don't say it's the torque converter, as it's a manual. What else? Don't tell me I need to go to a proper mechanic as I'm too poor after spending 500 on the bearings.
