Gonna reply to this rather than write it as it's own thing as it's related
I'm a history guy and at the last local military stuff convention i found this model of springer for 20 euros, bought it mostly for the looks and to shoot at cans at home, should i go the full lenght and get myself a WW2 USA uniform (i have plenty of helmets, getting the rest would be easy) and go to a local airsoft play to get into the game? I never played it, but know a couple of friends that do and they could hook up me
I do know that springers are hard to use and clunky, but i would go there to larp as an army man (not as actual larping, but having all the gear and equipment be historically accurate), maybe i'm just an autist but i don't care much about the game aspect itself but having the possibility to historically dress up hypes me up a lot

Clear S&W 5906 springer pistol, ran her until she broke. The first real skirmish gun I had was my TM SPAS 12. Missed the chunky shotty soo much that I got a Double Eagle SPAS 12 recently. I'm ready to shred up the fields pump style soon.

IDK what kind of field you are playing at, the typical issue with TMs is that they come in at the .9j limit for Japan. That being said they shoot fine, and are reliable as long as you do not fuck with them.

TM MP5A3 springer

You should also try to find out if there are any people doing historical games near you. The WWII games I've been to have been much more fun than regular ones.

>The catalog leaflet that came in the box blew my tiny little mind.
Oh man, those were great days.
>>
>>93010
It was an outdoor field. I've yet to play indoor. I prefer the former. I spoke with a tech and he says they're a nightmare to work on. Is the .9j limit a problem in the states?
>>
>>93017
For most outdoor fields you can typically go up to 1.5j, and if you wanted to take advantage of that, it would require modifying the TM which defeats the purpose of buying one.

My suggestion for your first gun would be to get a CYMA platinum or a Krytac. At most upgrade to a maple leaf bucking, and just run the thing until it dies.

Has anyone had experience with or owns a Wolverine MTW?

I think I've watched every video about it, everyone seems to talk it up as the endgame of airsoft weapons, especially out of the box. But then I saw this video, which seems to be made by the only guy who has actually done a proper shooting test, and the results seem pretty underwhelming, especially for the price.
What gives?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmguAvdLpOo
>>
>>93208
Haven't watched the video, but nothing's perfect. HPA is nice, but you have the external hose, expensive tank that needs recertifications, no quick and easy refills at home, etc... you pick what you think is best for your situation.
>>
>>93208
I own a heavily modified MTW, and watched that video. In the comments you can see them talking about the temperature, and how the bucking is too hard causing inconsistent shots at 200ft. Just like an AEG you need to use a winter bucking when its cold.

As for the MTW hype and acclaim, that's mostly due to the design. It's designed from the ground up to have perfect nozzle alignment between the hop up and engine, is incredibly easy to modify and work on, and has a lot of real steel compatibility. From a performance perspective the only thing it has on lets say a combat machine with a inferno in it, is that guaranteed nozzle alignment, and even then its not that hard to do with a drop in engine build.

As for the price you can absolutely build a gun that performs the same for about $100 less, but more then likely the donor body will not be as nice. If you end up going with lets say a VFC or Krytac as a base now you are in the same ballpark as a Billet MTW, but with a body style that is way more inconvenient to modify or do maintenance on.

Ok what the fuck did you do exactly
>>
>>93323
Could never get a battery to fit in it, then just decided to try and plug one in anyway only to find it was stuck on full auto regardless of trigger or selector position, opened it up, found the wire from the mosfet going to the trigger contact had snapped off, tried to fix that but ended up taking the whole thing apart and giving up completely.

It had problems from the start, just taking the gearbox/grip out was a pain in the ass because the tabs the stock pin goes through were somehow bent inward and couldn't clear the selector plate, so in the two times I've taken it apart the selector plate and one of the springs on it got mangled. The original wiring didn't clear the feed nozzle so the first magazine I put in it tore up the power cables, and it's an Avalon gearbox which I only learned after buying it was a pile of shit.

Ah. Got a question about the shells if you don't mind? The firing button on the back of the shell, does that require any kind of impact in order to set it off? Or does the firing pin just apply pressure from the trigger and push it down?

KJW's pretty much the go-to pistol brand I recommend to people because they're often reasonably priced (by Canada standards), are built pretty damn tough to allow for CO2 use while still allowing efficient propane use, and their Glocks and Capas in particular have a pretty decent rate of compatibility with TM-spec parts - I've had a KJW G17 for a year and a half now, and it's still working the same as the day I bought it
Wouldn't recommend KWC for someone trying to get into pistols, and especially would never recommend their dogshit 1911 - Umarex's stuff is also typically extremely overpriced for what you get, AFAIK, and their Glocks are incompatible with most TM-spec aftermarket IIRC

>>
>>93388
Sorry for the late reply. For some reason the work IP is blocked so I have to wait until I'm home.

Yeah, a LAW or similar is the plan. I was looking at the LAW and the RPG-18 /22 /26. The main issues I can see doing the LAW, 18 & 22 is that the launch tube is telescopic. Its not too hard but it adds another level of mechanism that I could probably do without. So I think I'm going to work towards an RPG-26. The tube and the external furniture are much simpler than all of the others and the larger calibre will give me more room to work inside.

Thanks for the info. The issue going round in my head is how to make the downward pressure of the firing button transfer into a rearward pressure for the pin pushing the grenade button. I've got the basics in my head but I think the only way to know for sure is to do it. I've started drawing it up in skechup and I'm going to 3D print it apart from the tube (I'm a modelmaker) but it's only the firing mechanism that is making me scratch my head.
>>
>>93410
Ah nice one. If you don't mind me asking are you from the states? You can get spent LAW tubes over here in the UK but they are about £200 a pop. It's tempting as it would be authentic but then I'd have to really think about how to take it apart to get the firing button to work with an custom launcher.

Did you just have something under pressure with the spring that was held in place by the lego then? Great picture by the way.

Depends. Airsoft can be good practice if you practice correctly, of course. It can help you develop/improve your abilities to communicate with others, to work as a team, and to develop good strategies. it might help with your movement, how to remain undetected, how to and where to position yourself. it definitely *will* help you in regards to how you move with your gear, considering you'll be running, crawling and rolling around like you'd literally never do in range drills or stuff like that. and lastly, this is to me one of the best "training aspects" of airsoft, it can help you figure out what works and what will get you clapped in a real firefight.

THAT SAID

one of the most CRITICAL counterpoints to using airsoft as any form of training at all is ballistics. a bullet will rip straight through plywood or whatever the fuck is used for cover in most fields. a bullet, or a few of them, will fuck you up even if you're standing behing a swung open car door. unlike with chinese toys guns, rifles can be extremely accurate upwards to 350 meters or whatever. not that i think you are retarded anon, but if you want to play airsoft and use it as a training tool then go for it, but don't create bad habits that will get you domed in a real SHTF scenario.

P.S.

LARPing is fun, and it's the closest some of us who live in shithole countries will ever get to real rifles and etc.
>>
>>93672
Are you probably just better off joining the military to get these kind of skills? I have next to zero intentions of getting into airsoft, I've just wondered this for sometime. I'm skeptical of how much it would actually transfer over, especially once you have a bullet crack over your head in a gunfight.

Where was that picture taken btw?
>>
>>93674
yes

that being said I have to laugh when I see /k/ tier larpers screaming about having guns when shtf
you know what you really need when shtf? as has happened in other countries before?
unless it's an invasion all you really need is;

A ham radio (when that volcano exploded in tonga there were no ham operators, no communication)
fresh water
food
heat

that's pretty much it, having guns helps in a mad max scenario or if you live in looter land, but generally when things go bad people will try to help each other out (maybe not in america, but I don't talk to jewdicks so unsure) because it's hard to survive such a situation alone, even if you're kitted out like rambo

Got a fair bit of the fixings sorted. What i'm going to do is try and do ALL the parts 3D printable so that you fuckers can just do what you want with the files.

I think i've got a good idea of what to do with the firing mechanism but i really need to draw it out properly to give it a shot.

Some updates.

Over here in the UK hard plastic drainpipe is 68mm diameter which is close enough to the 72mm calibre of the launcher for me to be able to do cheaply.

For you Americans - is there a typical round drainpipe size? Or typical round pipe of around 2 1/2" or 3" so i can scale all the drawings appropriately so you guys can just print it out and i know the scale will be correct?
>>
>>94046
>local indoor field burned down
Inshallah it will never reopen, CQB is worst QB.
>>
>>94046
Hey, my local cqb field closed down and they never got their "dream field". They could have just let it ride but they had to make dumb business decisions.
>>
>>94065
Dont bother with the scale, most people can't even print properly at 100% and will always pick "fit to paper" which is automatically scaled down like 97% or so and not even knowing it
And why would they print it on paper?
>>
>>94108
I'm not sure if your joking or not so I'll just take it at face value. Sorry, don't mean to be rude.

That's a 3D file for printing I'm working on there. So all the individual parts could be done on a filament FDM printer like a makerbot or something and printed out. The aim is to use standard plastic piping, in this case rainwater downpipe to make the launcher body. And all the other bits are printed so they can be combined with a 40mm gas shell and make a working launcher.

The reason why I asked for sizes of common things is then I could scale the files based on that factor and then all the parts will fit into the tube.
>>
>>94121
You said "scale all the drawings" so I thought you are making a set of blue prints or templates on paper. If you meant 3D printing then it wouldn't be drawings.

2 and 2-1/2 and 3" are common sizes in US but the next sizes up are 4 and 6"
>>
>>94201
Ah sorry, its just a habit from work (architecture) where we call everything drawings.

3" seems like it would work so that is good then. Very similar size.

Real scopes aren't designed to take hits to the glass either. If you got hit in the scope, you got worse problems. Just put on a plexiglass (not acrylic) screen if it bothers you.

I always hear good things about Vortex and their warranty apparently covers BB damage. Obviously don't say you were playing airsoft directly but you should be able to get get it replaced if you do get it busted.

But they are in the, "costs more than your gun" price range, if only just.
>>
>>92868
Some shitty manuel m1929 Thompson. I fucking loved it, but it was cheap and broke.

On the other hand, the newest gun i have bought is an Cyberarm Co2 BB Desert Eagle. It might have been cheaper than the gas one, but it was only aviable in black and I wanted it in the classic silver colour. It also have full auto so that is fucking neat. An annoying thing about it is that its easy to disassemble, but hard to reassemble. I actually wasted a few hours on youtube watch toturials on how to put it back together, while trying to replicate what they did. (and failing miserably).

>>94257
100% a direct BB strike will destroy the lens. Best way to protect it is to get some scope covers, and then cut lexan (not plexiglass) circles that can fit underneath them.

>>94267
I just run real optics and then protect them with homemade lexan protectors. The reticles in airsoft knockoffs just drove me insane. You can pick up cheap real steel optics for around $100 like primary arms. Like >>94281 mentioned Vortex has a no questions asked warranty policy, but its not worth imo. You will have to send it back to them and then wait for it to be repaired and sent back.

Overall it's way easier to just make protection for your optics. The only optics where it is difficult are elcans, acogs, and eotechs, but the gunsmodify protectos are good on eotechs and I use them on my real EXPS3.
>>
I bought these cheap from China. Then you can buy a sheet of polycarbonate and cut your own custom shape if the default isn't good enough for you.

>Just put on a plexiglass (not acrylic) screen if it bothers you.

I'm getting continuity from Battery Positive / Trigger Positive to the little black box component I can't identify, but only on the solder pad indicated with a red dot. The other red dot is where the Positive connection comes in. There's no solder bridge between the two.

I'm also getting continuity between Battery Negative and Motor Negative, so the board is "always on" regardless of trigger contacts and I've not found any other shorts that could cause this. Am I just cursed?

>>
>>95567
I'm not a zoo animal, I don't live in the city. I'm not likely to get shot at out here but if it were to happen it would probably be a poacher with a rifle somewhere on my property. If food prices and availability get worse the possibility of organized gangs spilling out of the city for South Africa style farm attacks increases, as well, and there's about 85 yards of flat open terrain between my house and the road.
>>
>>95567
>you and your companions are equally armed to the teeth
I'd also add that several of my shooting buddies can hit man steel (at least one can hit much smaller targets, but he's from a much more competitive shooting background than the rest of us) with their carry pistols at 100 yards, which is definitely getting towards the limits of effective range of airsoft. You don't need to be "armed to the teeth" to shoot past normal airsoft ranges, you just need a reasonable-quality relatively-modern pistol with which you actually routinely practice.

I don't even ask anything I just place the order and the seller marks my multiple kilos $200 order as a $20 fishing vest and it passes through

thank you anon, which part of Europe are you from?
>>

Norway

i'm sorry, but no. you don't exchange fire over 85 yards to resolve fire. you pick up a telephone and bunker down. if your communications network is less developed than your rifle collection maybe you need to take a sit and rethink things, because any woman that settles down with you into that hellhole is the woman organizing the raid that is looking to exchange fire with you.

Shipping and possible custom fees may mean it costs basically the same as buying in you own country. I only buy from HK if I can't buy the same hung over here e.g. nice markings etc.

Well all the external stuff is drawn. Need to get a hold of the plastic tube to finally check the diameter and wall thickness for a final fit....then it's designing and fitting the internals.

Ultra rad. Please tell me you have a plan to launch tags without a shitty shell that doesn't push them hard enough.
>>
why is it that J.G doesn't make any midcaps? Like this rifle is cool, and i want to get it just for the shell so i can upgrade it internally, but they only make midcaps for them which i'm not interested in at all
>>
>>95971

highcaps* d'oh

Look up law enforcement response times and compare that to how quickly a man inside or outside of a vehicle can close 85 yards should he be unimpeded and motivated to perform acts in the style of South African farm attacks. I have phone, internet and ham radio contacts in the region but I don't have any instantaneous summoning talismans or teleportation machines to get a cop with shoddy marksmanship here faster than the <2 seconds it takes me to draw and fire from concealment. If you have a workaround do let me know.
>>
>>95975
I would just walk up to your house while you're sleeping and shoot you. But that's just me not wanting to get into some crazy long range firefight to steal some carrots.
>>
>>95971
MAG make 100rd midcaps. They're a tight fit in the JG, but they feed well.

Is the VFC Cold M733 now available to buy?
>>
>>95975
Ok. Let's go over this again. There is a man approaching your property with a rifle. Your instinct is to draw your pistol, and start engaging over 85 yards.

My instinct is to alert authorities, and bunker down with the intent to minimize the range the aggressor can afford themselves in firing upon by me by restricting their field of view in targeting me. In doing so it is my intention that I would deny them the ability to counter strike when I defend myself and my family because in firing within ten yards my first shot yields the first down.

Lads it's a fucking airsoft general, stop being autistic
>>
>>96041
But autism is a prerequisite for airsoft.
>>
What are you guy's opinion on HPA? I never see anyone in these threads with a tapped gun. I personally really like mine so far.
>>
>>96059
My autism doesn't allow the hose.
The times I've used them however they're absolutely goofy.
>>
>>96041
fuck off back to reception piglet
>>
>>96059
it's a gimp as is co2.
>>
>>96061
me too, also carrying a big ass tank looks stupid and damage mobility
>>
>>96003
I think yeah
>>
>>96088
Based, now to order one and tell them to mark it as a £20 backpack so I don't get stung for VAT and customs fees

Do you guys have any advice for cheap decent looking WW2 replicas? They can be battery or rifle springers i don't really care, i want to get into airsoft with my friend group but i don't like how newer guns look
>>
>>96138
Cheapest is AGM MP40 or CYMA Thompson
>>
>>96138
>don't like how newer guns look
Cheap decent "exotic" guns do not exist, do you just want to cosplay or are you playing the game?
>>
>>96059
I like HPAs, own a Tippmann. Much easier to work on then AEGs, sound intimidating and you never forget to charge a battery since you just get the HPA tanks filled the day before game day.
>>96061
I have ran the Tippy with the tank directly attached and with the gimp line, the line doesn't bother me but I am biased because I came from paintball.
>>96081
If you get a high capacity/light weight carbon fiber tank it really doesn't bother you. Mags in the front, tank on the back, balance it out.
>>96077
I gotta disagree, co2 guns are the only pistols that work in cold weather and it's nice to not have to constantly top off green gas/propane. I ran a WinGun revolver in CQB and it was very consistent.

I thought it would hurt my mobility too, but it surprised me how well I could move with it. And if you already run some kind of backpack it probably won't change anything. I'm using picrel, it's quite light.

Is it cringe if I play airsoft in my 30s? I browsed my local community's facebook and it seems like it's full of teenagers.
>>
>>96158
Play outdoors and it will mostly be older guys. My field got a good mix of guys in their early 20’s and 30/40/50 year olds. There’s even a dude that’s mid 60’s who plays with a dye mask and a HPA tapped pistol. Dudes fast for his age too
>>
>>96154
>I have ran the Tippy with the tank directly attached and with the gimp line, the line doesn't bother me but I am biased because I came from paintball.
Im a .mil nerd first and airsofter second, so air lines coming off a rifle just impinge upon me wrong.
>>
>>96157
This, if you've got decent LBE already you can shove a tank into a dump pouch or admin pouch on the back of your belt system. It's not that intrusive.

I just hate the way the hose makes it look like a toy.
>>
>>96158
>what will the popular kids think of me
Stop being a fucking faggot and just do something you enjoy. Some of the people I play with are pushing 60
>>
>>96158
I bloody hope not. I'm 38 and just started up again after having a ten year break or so. Most of the guys I was playing with were 25 - 45
>>
>>96158
I'm 32 and my local field is about 60/40 in the old vs young department. Luckily my local doesn't get many South Park caricatures here in the Gulf Coast.
>>
>>96150
I'd say more on the cosplay side being totally honest
>>96149
i heard good things about the CYMA Thompson, it's probably gonna be my go to
Is there any decent bolt action rifle?
>>
>>96185
>decent
no, not really.
>>
>went for 3 asg events
>bought this
>can be only shipped via fregate so will wait 2 months
anons why did I do this?
>>
>>96185
S&T Kar98k and SMLE look neat.
>>
>>96226
Why?
