What’s the trick to ollie into manual?
>>46401Don't be afraid of falling backwards. Lean back more than you think you need to. Also pressing the tail towards the end of the ollie and not leveling out as much will help
>>46401On flat ground, roll with both your feet over the bolts. Hop and try to land in a manual. This gets you used to the act of 'landing' in a manual without just rolling into one. Then find a curb and ollie carefully so your back wheels land nearly flush on the pad. Of course don't hang up, but your balance will be thrown off severely if you land into the manual from a higher ollie. Ideally you'll land with such little impact that it basically feels similar to the hopping flat ground manny.

>>46540>>46541you guys are so ready to be defensive and fight you don't see what i'm saying. It has nothing to do with people buying them more so than it has to do with the companies . >>46542get a job stop being a jealous poor crybaby
>>46542Well first of all an all titanium truck will last forever compared to an aluminum truck. Baseplate holes on aluminum trucks get oval-shaped over time. The axles bend. This won't happen with Theeves. This makes Theeve based. Judging from the Ben Degros they don't grind well and they literally spark on contact with some metals and stick like glue (without wax). So anon is probably putting them into perfect use. VX deck and Theeve trucks could last 100 years.
Just ignore the retards that tell you to ride shitty streets and do dangerous and illegal stuff to be a real skater. Chances are they're talking shit because they're permanently injured and want you to be too or they can't even skate at all and are just repeating some dumb stuff they saw online.
A lot of the skaters that "went big" like Heath Kirchart, Arto Saari, Jerry Hsu and many others are borderline retarded from slams, especially head slams. Dave Mirra literally killed himself because of debilitating depression from head trauma induced brain injury. That's not cool.
>>46542I use them mainly for transition. I bought them because they’re light af and look badass. In fact, Benny D is the main reason I bought them because in his video he straight up says they’re great for transition. You should really feel how these bad boys turn though, feels stable as a rock and smooth like butter. And they’re so light, its unreal. If you don’t know, now you know.
>>46550I'm guessing they turn pretty similar to Aces, except they have a lot more structural integrity. The ones you chose also look amazing, some of the non-titanium Theeve designs (TiKing?) are really ugly, probably because aluminum is soft.

>>46386I had two. One was sick as hell on the inside and extremely low key way out in the country. Nobody knew about it except the local church kids. The park had no public hours and they only let you skate if you agreed to listen to their gay ass sermon. It was only open 4 hrs a week. session, bible lesson, session. Me and my friends would go there and chug beers in the parking lot and skate as much as possible before the sermon and then bounce. We would straight up mob this place. The layout was extremely gnarly for a little church park. They had a low to high doorway channel. The low was about 4 ft and the high was all the way to the ceiling about 10 ft high with a 6ft tall doorway in it. Going over that thing was truly fucked up. You could get buck on that 10 ft wall. I think one time someone found our beers in the trash can and we got banned
>>46605That blows they were so pushy. My place is super chill. They only do the sermom thing once a week and thats after they provide a free meal. I'm not religious but I find theology interesting. >>46648I have pushed myself to the limits with both Ventures and Thunders. To the point where I was pretty scared and out of my comfort zone. Here's my experience: Thunders will feel flimsier, like the board is going to flop away from your feet midair if your ollie is not 100% solid. Ventures feel very solid and inspire more confidence. Ventures worked better for me in the park. The catch is Thunders flip better. If I just had to ride the parking lot I would choose Ventures. If I just had to ride park I would choose Ventures. When bowls, big transition and hillbombs into play I'll start looking at Independent.
>>46698>If I just had to ride the parking lot I would choose Thunders*
>>46638Transition with a short wheelbase sucks.
>>46576Started with 7.75. Stayed on 8 for years. Now on 8.25 looking at 8.375 and light 8.5 trucks. I don't see myself going larger, because I like skating flatground and large trucks really get in the way. However I would rather flip around large trucks than ride bowls, hit the foampit or hillbomb on a toothpick with loose trucks. Literally fuck that. Tony Trujillo did and still sometimes does 139, loose as fuck, super fast and flies straight off the hip in concrete parks or rolls in the deep end of a pool. It actually looks really good, so don't listen to the idiots telling you that you need massive trucks to do this type of thing. One thing I feel is like if I try something that's out of my league, then a narrow setup is easier to bail out from, whereas a boat of a setup could get tangled in my feet and fuck me up, anyone ever felt that?

>>46740>why nose is bigger than tailthey designed it like that to catch your foot more, to help with tricks>smaller tailThey designed tails smaller so they snap quicker, allowing tricks to be more responsive. Think of it this way, if the tail is bigger, it will take more effort for it to hit the ground as it gets popped off the ground, but if it's smaller, it's generally easier to pop the board. Not all boards are like this.It actually has more to do with whele base. Watch this video, Ben goes into greAT DETAILhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sidcnh2cJH4

>>46997If you skate for an hour everyday, you should have all those pretty comfortable in about a month. Keep doing your tictac reps. Also no shame in working on your pushing. Try to get them to a causal sway. None of that 'push-push-ride'. Riding is the easy part, spending half the time balancing on one foot while propelling yourself forward with a push can always be improved on. Helps you build a solid sense of balance for that leading foot, which will guide those pivots and tictacs, and be the foot that catches the shuvit. In other words, just keep riding and your balance will continue to get better. My biggest advice for beginners is practice pumping from the flat of a miniramp (if you're fortunate enough to have a skate park that isn't busy.) You'll wear out fast so don't over do it, but your legs will get stronger and your balance will improve exponentially because you've got to constantly shift your weight to match the curve of the ramp.
>>47045tips for riding switch? i can feel my dominant foot still trying to lead the board from the back and it feels really unstable
>>46760>some anon seethed because i posted gear!>who could be behind this?>well obviously those guys who support their local skate shops are behind thisyou are a retard
>>47046just push mongo
>>47047I'll do it for free that'll impress them. The life of a faggot lmfao
Why do people say indys are better for hillbombing if ventures are supposed to be more stable?
>>47048no way fag
>>47046Same logic applies, you've got to build up the muscles you'll be standing with the most weight on. Pump tracks are pretty rare, but if your park has one, it's one of the best things to ride on to build up front foot strength and balance. You'd just skate it switch as well in this case. https://i.gifer.com/DdU8.gif
>>47045I am pretty comfortable pushing at speed and can fairly easily ride across a parking lot or down a slight hill on just my lead foot (doing it switch is alright but less comfertable). But when I try and lift the nose it just flies into air lol, honestly can't even practice tic tacs without losing balance. Maybe I'll work on how I am standing.
Anyone have any idea as to why my board is razoring this way? Trying to figure out if it’s bad technique, crooked trucks, or a warp in the tail.
>>47059because when your popping foot is snapping the tail, the toeside naturally is the last part to hit, and causes it to wear at an angle. you can do front shuvs to even the shape out perfectly.
>>46834why do people not commit, nothing bad can happen if you do. >>46843>can ride board>dropping ini would have stopped her.>>46833keep your knees bent
>>46830anon you can't base all people off a video online. you justr have to gradually improve, these people are pushing the their limit too much, and this is what leads to slams. ALso not committing. Is like actual suicide.
>>46815>>46816>>46820>>46822>>46822>>46824>>46825>>46826>>46829>>46831>>46833>>46834>>46838so basically don't skate waxed out ledges, bomb hills, grind hand rails.
>>47053One busted taillight. >Violation. One bad bumper sticker.> Ghhhhh thbbft, big mistake.
>>47050because people who love indys, shill them like nothing else. I don't hate them, but they have fanatic fanboys for some reason. Ain't nothing more stable than ventures with some doh doh black bushings though. 250lb dudes ride them because everything else feels like a wet noodle when you're that big.
>>47058put your arms up in the air to balance when lifting the nose, use your back leg as like a hinge or spring, and lean forward from your hips up. if you have a stiff back leg, don't have your arms up high to balance, or don't lean forward to keep your shoulders over the board... you will have problems like this.
>>47059looks like you are doing certain maneuvers/tricks that just wear that side. or if you are tail dragging to when you come to a stop, you are leaning the trucks to that side when doing so. dragging on kickturns to one side will do that too.
>>47072>keep your knees bentBeginner question: is there any situation where NOT keeping your knees slightly bent is advantageous for keeping balance/landing a trick? Is that just the secret to not slipping out horribly, even when just riding around, is to have your knees slightly bent at all times?
>>47128you never want your knees locked out straight. your knees are the shock absorbers. bent knees = low center of gravity, which obviously mean easier to balance and make fine motor skill movements. also, it helps you to feel the terrain better. now, I'm not saying to ride around squatted low all the time, that would look silly, but always have a slight bend in your knee, ready for it to compress even lower at any time.
>>47128not for me. Iook at surfers they always have their knees bent. Get into this habbit, you might feel stupid at first, but once you get the feel, your accuracy will be better, your balance will improve. try to relax.
>>47030>avoidit's not a matter of 'if' you get hurt, it's a matter of 'when' you get hurt. so take your vitamins like a good boy and eat a healthy diet so that your body can bounce back from injuries better. also protip: you're less likely to have a serious injury if you don't weigh 200+ lbs
Broke my wrist and made a nice skin donation to the pavement. How was your weekend /esg/?
>>47173how did this one happen, anon? My weekend just started, but today I had a good curb sesh
>>47174Going way faster than I should have and not bailing when I should have.
>>47176run away board and you happened to be the passenger.
>>47173Broke my wrist last year bro hope it doesn’t require surgery.
>>47173at least it's not a knee or leg, you're still in the game bro, just take it easy
>>47177kek pretty much>>47179yeah, looks like the couple months are just gonna be cruising around
>>47178Doc said it wasnt displaced so as long as I let it heal without fucking it any further, I should be good.
>>47179actually a leg or arm break is preferred over a wrist break due to there being less ligaments and tiny bone breakage. One clean snap is easier to heal than a bunch of tiny bones in the wrist.Wear wrist guards if you're practicing on your own bros.
Is there a gravitational pull on the northern hemisphere of Earth?? I feel like Canadian skaters are shit, but it's because the gravity is stronger, something is up.
>>47192lmao no it's because we have actualy winters for 2/3rds of the year in most places only like a small section of west coast gets good skating weather the majority of the time.
>>47037yep I saw that too
any tips on maintaining balance while airborne? It always feels sketchy doing ollies at a high speeds and im still working on drops/stairset landings. I can get some makes but it isn't consistent.
>>47254come straight up and hop, don't jump
>>47254Tony Alva did his first air accidently. They started out riding tranny in pools and kept pushing the limit. >>47255>come straight upI think this
>>47260she'd be better off doing squats. ngl this is just retarded. >unfit>mid life crisis >im gonna skatenaww you need to go for a run and drop that mom chub off your chin grandma
>>46838a helmet would have changed literally nothing here unless you were wearing a full face motorcycle helmet
>>46838Betting he didn't even feel this until the next day. Adrenaline is amazing.
>>47129>>47130thanks, I'll try to keep it in mind next time I'm on my board. I don't lock my knees exactly, but sometimes when riding around I'll stand up a little straighter to try and seem casual, but I think until I am actually experienced, I probably shouldn't do that.>try to relaxYeah, when I feel confident things just feel easier and more stable and that's probably me loosening up a bit.
>>46822helmet doesn't stop you smashing your face on a curb mate, unless you're gonna wear a full biker helmet. Which desu if you're bombing hills is probably not a terrible idea
do collectors increase market prices? I feel like it fucks up everything when people start hoarding decks, especially if they're not in production anymore.
Is it at all possible to ollie without rubbing the top of my shoe on the sandpaper? Don't want to ruin my only pair of footwear.
>>47321what do you think?
>>47321I prefer to rub my heel against the board when I ollie.
wayward wheels. prolly the best wheels i've had
>>47321no, unless you do really weak ollies that will only get you over cracks.
>>47331I do higher ollies when I slide my heel up the board instead.
>>47260i bet you she's super horny and fucks young guys at the skatepark
>>47262shes probably trying harder than half the faggots in this thead
skategoat (the instagram guy) is actually fucking sickbut he seems to be completely outside the skate industrywhat's going on there?
>you're never too old to skat-
Finally dropped in the quarter pipe todayalso ollied over a small barrieronly took like 4 hours of skating kek
>>47357you learned to ollie in four hours?
>>47358no I knew how to ollie but ollieing over stuff is like a whole different best for me
>>47342Last I heard he got sponsored. Instagram is probably how the industry works these days anyway. Rich kids paying Instagram skaters to promote their overpriced street wear and whatnot.>>47355Ideally you want to be in shape before trying a blunt 180. Bam is doomed to be forever "rusty" and it's his own fault. He's trying to be too many things at once with no clear goal besides selling screen prints and 3d printed jewelry.
>>47342because he's a berrics fag Berrics is about a step below Braille in terms of respect.
>>47355he's like 230 lbs + and still trying to skate like he was when he was 20.
>>47355If he lost that weight it would all come back so quickly. > The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
>>47313I've been trying to buy that Barrel of a Gun reissue for years, fuck scalpers
pls webm 19:40https://youtu.be/BCt1U5Wsolk?t=1180
>>47454Good interview and pretty hectic slam.
>>47454I got you, anon
>>47459wow. fast. thanks
>>46928It's about brain. Your nose and chin are more likely to recover, maybe you'll have to get yourself some new teeth, but helmet will prevent concussion. Without a helmet you can get a very serious brain injury with unpredictable consequences. Hit your head several times and if you're unlucky you will turn into a cucumber. Or maybe not, but not wearing a helmet because someone said it's lame is not worth it :^)
>>47459so dont skate mega ramps, okay.
>>47460I might write a quick 'guide to making webms' infographic for this general, cause it needs more content. It's easy to make them. The hardest part is getting it 3MB and under without turning it into pixel diarroeah
>>47480yes post your scripts please, senpai
The OP for this one is so bad, holy fuck. What kind of person wrote that? >Trick Tip: Successful no pop ollies are a merger of lift generated from force parallel to the back trucks forward momentum, and creating pickup perpendicular from the ground on the front toe drag.Bruh. Get it together, skate a few more years before starting a general
>>47491how do you make them?
>walked by the skate park>no one wearing helmetsWhy?
>>47487It's fine don't take shit so seriously
>>47501>Average no pop Ollie fan
>>47498>>47498They understand and consneed that skateboarding is inherently dangerous and could result in permanent brain injury, yet choose not to wear a helmet for personal reasons.Taking the conversation any farther than that makes you an annoying fag
>>47498what is it with you cultists? you care more about people wearing no gear than these people do about others WEARING gear. let ppl do what they want.
>>47504>>47498or they know how to skate with in their limit, have experience falling, or don't fucking care.
Helmetbros are welcome to come skate any time. Safetyfags get the fucking wall. Also,>Put a mask on!!!>Put a helmet on!!Same fucking energy
>>47480there was a webm guide in the OP when we were on /asp/
>>47480I have done it before, but I was feeling old and lazy. sometimes you get it all done and right size, but you needed webm9 instead of webm8 or something.
>>47504Is it gay to show up to the skate park with a helmet?
>>47509I like when people with helmets come in because they start acting brave and doing extra shit
>>47532Would you ever take advice from someone with brain damage? People always want to bring you down to their level, especially clout chasers.
>>47509Imagine being that loser who hates his parents so much he risks permanent retardation. Major oofsies
>>46829I like how the girl in >>46632ate shit and got rushed to the ER on a stretcher and this dude just gets up and laughs at his fucked up reflection.
>>47536I understand and consneed that skateboarding is inherently dangerous and could result in permanent brain injury, yet choose not to wear a helmet for personal reasons.Taking the conversation any farther than this makes you an annoying fag.
>>47480>>47486>>47492>>47513>>47521Here's a very quick, very rough guide I slapped together for the method I currently use. It's aimed at people who want to make a WEBM from YouTube vids, cause that seems to be the most common thing. There are many ways to do it, so if anyone has a better/easier way, share that shit.
>>47532No. If you are worried about hitting your head, you should absolutely be wearing a helmet. No Shame in that. Acting like a holier than thou, know it all enlightened asshole who demands the whole world live their life the way you have chosen to live yours, that is quite frankly EXTREMELY gay. This has nothing to do with helmets and everything to do with shutting the fuck up about others personal decisions.
>>47544>>47546We haven't even hit the bump limit in this one, what the fuck is wrong with you?
>>46637>>hill bombing cam whore yuppie fast diet blonde dumb fuckthis made me laugh too hard
this thread isnt even dead yetwould you kooks stop feeding the trolls and spergs
IS SKATE DANGER?
What happens when you dont skate and sperg out because you're not getting paid anything?
Is coffee bad ?
Hey some Japanese sissy offered to sponsor me. He said he'll be my friend. I mean I'm not getting any sort of financial or professional compensation but should I do it?
Should I do okay
Y'all ever fag out because you're not getting paid anything?
I will eat the estate and you will take the bait I will eat the estate and you will take the bait
Reminder to the resident butthurt retard that spends too much time in these threads that bump limit != post limit.
>>47599Imagine being the fag that sperlords over posting limits do you even skate?
>>47542come over here and make me
>>47539oh shit thank you
>>47539i suck tho. maybe when i get my shit on lock i'll post never
>>47532head hits happen fakie, usually on tranny too. generally, it's pretty rare to smash your head. just skate ledges, kick turn. you're more likely to fall on your back before your head.
>>47588It can be if abused. Coffee is for emergencies like wartime, night driving to the hospital, studying late into the night. Not for every day use.A person will have all the energy they need if they go on a no-sugar diet
>>47654i'm just kidding anon I had to wear a helmet to learn to drop in like two days ago kek
>>47528who else snagged corey duffel's zero board?
