kid at my park dislocated his wrist today. or at least that's what he thought. it was definitely jacked and he said it didn't hurt, so I guess it probably wasn't broken. the funny thing is he just sat to the side for like 10 minutes with his arm covered by his shirt before saying "can someone help me up? I really messed up my wrist." everyone was basically like wtf dude why didn't you say something. he didn't have either of his parents numbers and his phone was dead. I suspect maybe he just didn't want to tell his parents or something. his was definitely all scatterbrained and not thinking straight. eventually we convinced him that it would be best to call 911. first a firetruck came then an ambulance... amerifat things. thanks for reading my blog. stay safe lads.
>>41153oh and when he eventually got help to stand up, he just fell right back down. was definitely shook as fuck. he was a nice kid too, super cautious and just practicing his ollies and shit. I guess he fucked up a manual and that's what caused it.
give me a cute skater bf to practice with
>>41154Isn't an ambulance like retarded expensive in claptistan? Might have given the poor fuck a hefty bill to boot. Why did a fire truck show up tho? Don't they have call menus for that? At our local (Netherlands) almost always some dude it willing to drive you to our city hospital. Seen it happen multiple times. Though it's just like a 10 minute drive so.
>>41162Faggots not allowed in skateboarding.
Saw one my locals have these in stock while looking for black high top shoes, since I'm tired of supporting nike through buying converse. Can't find much info on them other than that they're an epic "core" brand. Wondering how durable they are.

>>41163firetrucks show up because there are more firestations and they are trained to handle medical calls too. there are always more nearby than ambulances/hospitals.
>>41174Makes sense, since the store that has them is the only one that sells polar here. Is polar based or possed?
Just started skating for the first time in 8 years, can land nollie/switch flip tricks but not regular/fakie. the FUCK? oh well, feelsgoodman.
>>41180A dude at my local spot can switch flip and tre flip but he can't land regular kickflips, it's common.

>>41252Yeah, Vans are pretty much the standard. Vans do vary in quality though. There are the cheap canvas Vans that'll have a hole in them in no time from ollying and there are more durable and shock absorbent ones that last a lot longer and made of thicker, stronger material.

This is what happens when you let people think a no-comply or any variation of it is a trick.
>>41297It's not prior to 2004 anymore.
>>41306The point being that you can ride and ride well with whatever size you want. A 7¾in deck isn’t gonna hold you back.
I know we're not supposed to like Nikes but I just got a pair and they actually fit like a glove. The Emericas I had before were too wide around my ankle, but very narrow near my toes. Very strange shape on those. I had to lace them as tightly as possible so my foot wouldn't slide around in the back. Why do "core" shoe companies make it so hard to like them? I'm conflicted.
>>41309True, but it's still safer if he got at least an 8.
>>41306>Dave Bachinsky 7.5 (2020)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNfj43h01KQ
>>41310Well yeah nike/converse are sick, because they have the funds to put into development. Of course they make nice shoes. It's just that they don't do shit for skateboarding and are only in it for profit. Core companies make a lot of good shoes too though, just those specific emericas weren't for your foot, just like some nike ones wont be as well. Es, etnies and emerica are probably the best "core" brands too, they're under one distributor as well, and have some shoes that are better than nikes, depending on what your preference is. You just have to find the right ones.
>>41311If an entire generation of beginners could learn on a 7.5, so can he. Honestly, smaller boards are easier to learn flip tricks with.
>>41314This argument goes both ways. With getting an 8 he'll just have an easier transition when he wants to jump to a bigger size later, or wont have any at all if he wants to stay at 8. The vast majority of people don't ride under 8. Stop acting retarded.

>>41371please stop being a fucking boomer retard. 8 is industry standard at this point, probably more so 8.25. recommending a grown adult start on a 7.75 in 2021 makes no fucking sense. companies hardly even make decks like that anymore so your options of what you want are severely limited. you can talk all the "back in the day" shit you want. none of that matters now granpa.
>>41376>fuck you, do what they tell you! What a conformist. People ride wide decks because the skaters they’re inspired by do. All I’m saying is sub-8 isn’t a “kiddy deck”, and that he should test different sizes to see what works for him. Stop being a sheep

>>41524you mean you literally just got it? id ride it on the sidewalk first before going to a park. but just go really early so its empty if you insist. ALSO!i stopped by my local shop earlier and the owner was freaking out again. apparently theres going to be another bump up in prices. because of lumber prices, boards are going to be even more expensive. if you guys want to stock up do it now. we arent going back to $50 decks anytime soon. i saw April decks going for $70 just now. hes worried sales will crash down.
>>41524find a block of concrete and just get comfortable. do spins, tick tacking, balancing on nose and tail. Stay away from the park or don't, but you should get comfy on your board before you go. >>41521I feel much better when I just skate for 30 minutes every day. if you had a long break away from skating and are returning, trying to do hours of skating from the start is obviously gonna result in lots of down time. you gonna gradually work your way back up. I tried skating for like half a day the first two days back after years of not skating, I was down for like a week each time because my ankle felt like it had a torn tendon or something crazy. instead, now I'm skating for like 30 minutes before work, and the pain is still there the next day, but it's not bad enough to where I can't skate if I wanted to, and I feel decent with a day break inbetween. you gotta slowly train your body again.
>>41573>>41572Absolutely. I grew up riding lows for the majority of my skating with like 51mm wheels. had to have tight trucks even then to avoid wheelbite when landing down stairs and stuff. everyone should have "hi" trucks. you can even get wheelbite easily on hi trucks with 56mm wheels if you ride really loose or don't have barrel bushings. I ride venture hi with 97/98duro bushings and 52/53mm wheels, and I'm lighter than most people too.
>>41572>>41573you will wheelbite easily if you have a low truck with 56mms. I would just get indy standards or hollows based on if you want something light or heavier.

My wheels stick out maybe half an inch or more than the deck. thoughts on how this looks?
>>41602it does matter. obviously not as noticeable if you're riding 52mm wheels and under, but 54mm and up you need all the mm of clearance you can get. think about it, 1/8" of riser pad give you 3mm of height. so 3mm of truck clearance makes a setup with a 55mm wheel have the same clearance as that of one without a riser and 52mm wheels. now if you're running softer wheels, wheelbite is way more risky. nothing like eating shit because of wheelbite when hailing ass down a hill .
I made this setup for speed on shitty pavement when I'm just exploring around and going long distances. I can still bust big ass ollies to get over anything I need to. Surprisingly, it doesn't feel that heavy once you're moving. 3/8" OJ risers give me the same amount of lean without wheelbite as my setup without risers and 52mm wheels because the risers work out to 9.5mm. When I wear these wheels out I'm gonna experiment with 1/2" risers and 65mm wheels. the speed and grip difference is huge and I have zero vibration in my feet. It's been just as fun hitting some hills on this as skating my normal setup.
>>41624it looks fine

Thoughts on real skateboards? Just bought a 8.3 deck on a whim, shape is kinda funky
>>41567I use it underneath my shoes too.
>>41644funky how? I had an 8" mason silva deck and it was pretty much average. nothing stood out about it.
>>41644is it symmetrical? how is that working? being autistic about nose and tail is starting to piss me off
>>41663that doesnt even apply. those guys live in a crack house and the lot of them are mentally ill.
red pill me on skate shoes. Why not just buy cheap off name brand shoes that look like skate shoes? You could slap some goo on them. Or you can buy a shoe with another mans name on them.
>>41669well it's gotta be made of suede or leather or else it's gonna fall apart. then the bottom has to be flat, but with decent tread that won't wear away almost immediately. then you would hope that the stitching isn't in terrible spots so it doesn't come apart really quick.when you consider that you can easily find legit skate shoes on sale for <50, it doesn't make sense to buy much else imo. slap (oh nooo the boogeyman) does have a thread about non-skate shoes that are good for skating: https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=99179.0nordstrom rack has really cheap skate shoes. I've bought a couple pairs from there recently. just search for skate shoes: https://www.nordstromrack.com/shop/search?query=skate+shoes I also found cheap tyshawns from adidas' official ebay.
>>41466what hardness are your wheels? i ride 92a so my wheels are pretty bouncy
>>41669>You could slap some goo on them. Or you can buy a shoe with another mans name on them.honestly shoe goo looks like complete shit. pisses me off even if I just wear the shoes while skating. would rather have the pro's name, not a big deal to me.
>>41620why is Nyjah in the image?
why cant they make more middle age, boomer parks? I'm pretty close to going into the woods with a shovel and concrete.
>>41669I bought 2 pairs of Vans skate shoes for $32 on sale. Could have easily bought many different ones for under $50 a pair.Spend the money, it's worth it.
>>41644I generally like Real. They make solid boards, but their shapes do get funky with size and they neglect to mention it, its something you've gotta look out for. For example an 8.06 has a really pointy tail. I love their Full SE shape myself. At least with that I know I'm getting a blunter shape.
>>41669I'll gladly redpill you on this. For like 5 years, I thought I was smart buying those $30 wal-mart Airspeed shoes and Khole's Vans, Hawk, and DC shoes. However, my feet were hurting all the time, and I was blowing through shoes every 3 weeks, and I'm pretty sure the padding was made of cardboard. Well eventually I caved in and bought some $80 adidas. They felt so fucking comfy and they lasted me 4 months of skating. It turns out, I was paying MORE money skating low quality shoes that would hurt my feet.Protect your fucking feet. Don't skimp out on buying the high quality shoes. They'll last you longer, and will have proper padding. $80 is still an absurd price for shoes you're going to destroy over time, so I get mine on sale from Tactics. You can usually find $80 quality shoes for $45-$65. The colors tend to be ugly as shit but, fuck it. It's more about the quality of material. I'll never buy cheap shoes again.
>>41669you can buy name brand shoes for less than 50 bucks consistently because they go on sale all the time. personally I mostly go for adidas, they are the most durable and comfortable from my experience - suciu, busenitz, tyshawn, all good. other brands I've tried - emerica, etnies, vans, nike - pretty hit or miss.
>>41698I should also note that I got FP insoles and I am totally unable to wearing any type of shoe without proper arch and general support.

>>41720>>41724>It just be like that.maybe sometimes it be like that. if I cant get anything in an hour I take that as a sign to take the day off but that only happens once a week or so. if its taking you a 4 hour warm up to get something going your doing something wrong. a 6 hour sesh is long as fuck anyway unless your a kid. Skate harder and commit more.
>>41732>already drove to the park and paid the entrance fee>leaving after an hourNo. I also have this autistic thing that I can't leave until I land what I want. And I only set this goal for things I know for a fact I can do, not something out of my reach. Sometimes it just drags and before I realize it's been 5-6 hours.
>>41157is that a young tyshawn jones with rieder?
>>41720what the? what are you actually doing?
>>41733Paying to skate is gay asf. Your going to the same park every day and spending 6 hours there? I hope to god your actually trying some shit and not busting ass on some easy beginner bull shit. Besides that I dont know what the problem is, if you have 6 hours to spend skating and you can physically accomplish that then go for it.
>>41720>6 hourholy fuck how do you even?
>>41720I know what you mean, i'm not really shitty the first few hours and i land ok and all that but i really hit my stride around hour 3 or 4.
>>41673that doesn't matter unless you aren't doing it right. your feet should be on the board before the front wheels hit the ground.
>>41703because you aren't execting to fall. Simple as that. Let your guard down = eat shit.
>>41725that's not hard when you're doing tricks that a 10 year old can do, Mi
>>41745we skate for different reasons.
>>41747Yes, I know. I skate for fun... you skate to seem like a badass, Mike.
What's that one trick you just love doing because of the feel, and people probably think you overuse it because. For me, It's back 3s or full cabs. I do them down everything. I just like the feeling of spinning bros.
>>41748kek i skate 4 fun 100 percent
Can't land shuvits. Starting to get annoyed now.
>>41759try fakie shuvits first, they're easier.
>>41148>You're not too Old/ Fat to skate.this just motivated me to try skating again.
For me, it’s Bronson bearings.
skateboarding is hard as fuck. re learning this shit is insane when you're in late 20's. even riding fakie is sketchy as fuck, literally like picking up a board for the first time feeling. today i just pushed around for an hour, fast, carving like a hippie, do ollies, faster and faster. everything feels so sketchy going fast. thinking back I remember I ollied down 7 stairs when I was 15. probably a 5 feet tall, and 10 or 11 feet long. is anyone else picking up skating again?I get all wobbly sometimes on my board, my legs are more stiff, but it's getting better, i keep telling myself i'll get there, i'll get there, just baby steps, go easy on yourself, keep pushing. I forget if the fear goes away. I hope it does.
>>41738>>41741Skating for ~15, then taking a 5-10 min break. Some of the time is spent doing easy chill shit. Someone asked me to film them for half an hour. Didn't skate non stop for 6 hours obviously.>>41739It is, but I'm not going every day obviously. Like 2 times per week. Physically accomplish it is funny, because right now I literally feel dead. Had to lie down for 2 hours, and now I can barely sit on my chair because I slammed my ass on the same spot 3 fucking times.>>41765I'm thinking of changing to bronsons because they have a cool racecar type theme.
>>41766It will get better every day you skate. Funny enough for me... the fear is GONE completely. I used to have fear when skating despite getting pretty damn good, now I have none and I just enjoy the small things. I have to stop myself from trying to do things too fast before I'm ready. I guess that has to do with all the lost time.
>>41765For me, it's Bones Reds.
>>41776I'm going to try some pads and see if it helps too.
With transition it’s not the size that makes thing difficult is it? It’s the steepness more than anything
>>41605We blew it at some point is goat
Califags, are you sad that the courthouse is gonna be demolished soon and nike has given up on it ages ago, and nobody else will help either?
>>41783yes and no. as the size goes up, so does the steepness.
>>41549jesus that's hideous. what the fuck.
>>41720a shitty day of skating still beats a good day at work.
>>41765>Bronson G2>Simple as>>41795Hence the "free" part. Picked up some Indy 144s today, so it's being built in spite of gay graphic>>41712>Hit the gym and use extra heavy maxi pads.

>>41549The board is fineI hate this place.
>>41826yes the board is fine, but that graphic hahahaha no.
>>41549how did you get the free deck?
What is your opinion on helmets, pads, etc?
>>41832Wear wrist guards as often as you can, your wrists will be taking impacts during most of your fallsWear knee pads if you're skating vertI never really found a use for elbow pads, haven't banged up my elbow once while skatingWear a helmet if you plan on skating anything that isn't just horizontal flat ground, nothing like the board slipping out under you and banging the back of your head against a metal beam to make you wish you had a helmet on.
>>41832They will prevent injuries. THat one time you over compensate a turn and slip out, fall and land on your elbow. These are the dumb falls that fuck you up. I think wearing armor shows you're chasing gains. Once you get better you can take it off. It's based.
>>41835>I think wearing armor shows you're chasing gainsoof
>>41836if you're older and balancing work life. calm down kid.
>>41832I always wear a helmet and knee pads but I'm sure I look like a dipshit. Doesn't really matter I usually go to the skate park at 6:30 or 7am when no ones there and skate the bowl and trans ramps then make it home in time to check into work at 9. If I'm just cruising or skating flat I don't think there's much of a point of to it but whatever.>>41835I agree with your first point>Once you get better you can take it off.that's where you lost me, once people get better they're generally more comfortable doing bigger and bigger things. I get that there's an appearance to keep up and its considered uncool but it blows my mind how few pros don't wear a helmet at all. A beginner is never gonna have to worry about slamming trying to trick an 8 stair but even the best can very easily fuck themselves. I can only wonder what the full extent of damage done with a career of blows to the head like that adds up to.
>>41847I can see how that statement was a little vague. I fully support wearing armour. But I'm not going to wear it every time I skate to the store etc. When I skate transition, it goes on
What's the consensus on Bronson G2 bearings? I ordered some for $15 because I've never tried anything but Reds. Felt worth it because they come with spacers, and if they are just Reds-tier at the end of the day, no loss.
Guys I wanna do big ollies over trash cans and fire hydrants like my skating heroes. How do I do it bros? I've skated on and off my whole life and I've known how to ollie for like ten years. I can barely ollie over a board.I wanna ollie like Natas. my mans board doesn't even have a kick nose. so gnarly
>>41853guy at the skate shop pretty much forced me to buy them once because he said they were cheaper than reds and better. idk I just like the feel of reds more. Maybe there isn't a difference. Maybes it's just in my head.
>>41858oh well, basically $10 bearings when spacers alone usually cost $5 anyways. I'm on a mission to try lots of new shit.
>>41860You'll prolly like them. Maybe you won't notice a difference. I've just always skated reds.

>>41737yeah. from Blessed. came out shortly after he died. in the clip he says, "it's your turn buddy" probably telling him it's his turn to try a trick or whatever. but in the context of the video it's basically saying it's his turn to be the man, the face of supreme, etc like Dylan once was. then Tyshawn's nutty part that clinched him SOTY starts.
>>41733>paid the entrance fee
>>41853I'm pretty sure the only difference between the G3 and G2 is the packaging and I think the G3's are great. Def better than Bones Reds which I would say are more comparable to Mini-logo bearings and I think they're both pretty good to begin with.
