Freeskating is the best thing that has happened to inline fact.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vuBlSgqXiE
Blasting through cities and lanes and roads, trying to find the fastest possible lines, while doing cool grinds and jumps along the way really shows skating at it's best and how it's unique compared to skateboarding. FISE Freeskating >>>>>>>>> It's Skateboarding equivalent as well in spectating.
Aggressive is just too technical and doesn't even look good compared to basic level skateboard tricks.

Why do women only seem to buy quad skates?
>>

They're in fashion right now. Especially among the alternative girls.

Yeah but I don't get why specifically quads. They seem so slow and less versatile than fitness or free skates.

>People on yotube try blading for the first time and can go backwards after like 10 minutes
>Been blading for a decade and still can't go backwards for shit.

I legitimately just don't get it, I can never keep the momentum going backwards and if I'm doing it on a hill, my body freaks out over like 10km.
>>
>>19343
Squat down (this is important). Learn how to look over both shoulders if possible. The use your hips/body mass more when accelerating backwards instead of your legs.

Honestly just dedicated one session on this on flat land and you should get a feel for it.

are intuition liners really worth it?
>>
>>19369
I like mine, but it's not mind-blowing. The liner that came with my USD aeons is also really good. The big difference I think is just overall fit - the setup with the intuition is basically perfect fit, and my aeons are too big (because I was retarded when I bought them). Someone who isn't as dumb as me and has tried different liners in the same boot can probably give you a better answer.

Wizard are natural rockered (Hence why it's called NR). It's very very slight and subtle (maybe like 2 mm), but it gives the benefits of both a rockered with the stability of flat.

Freeskateing only exist the way it does now because of aggressive skaters who became more interested in bigger wheels and wanted more variety in their skating (or because older/returning aggressive skaters that still wanted to skate but didn't want constantly do body taxing tricks)

Before that. Most hardshell freeskates were just mostly used for slalom and some distance style skating. Salomon I think we're the first try aggressive with big wheels with their FSK series of skates. K2 and Rollerblade also attempted a few UFS big wheel models shortly after. Powerslide then really pushed their own "Powerblade" lineup.

Almost all skilled urban skaters today are also aggressive skaters (or were at some point). I don't know what you mean how aggressive doesn't look good on a basic level but to each their own. You should probably stop inline skating if you care about "looks"

>>
>>19379
Those sorts of blades prob won't survive any hard landing at a skatepark, they're fitness skates, good for travel and light use.
For skatepark + Travel, you want a basic pair of freeskates like Cruiser, FRX or F5S
Personally I would look at something like a Aeon 80s or Razor Cosmos if you're serious about hybrid skatepark/freekstating.
>>
>>19404
2nd hand Salomon are the classic.
>>
>>19254
>>19256
how do I get these
>>
>>19415
They're expensive as fuck like 350 just for the boot itself, then you have to add your own frames and if you're going for good frames, that's like another 200.
Rollerblades like that are for legitimately rich people flexing. I would be scared to fucking take those things outside, they're leather and suede, you would scuff them to shit immediately.
>>
>>19415
You can only get them used now. Carbons are still being made just not in that style
>>
>>19421
No? They are made to take beating. Plus the material is actually really tough. I had a pair (not that style in the picture ) they where great for almost two years, though they do start to get soggy after. USD hardware (bolts) is trash though. Replace those or get some loctite if you don't want to lose them in a session.

Also don't get carbons with wizards or something similar. That sounds like ankle breaker.

If you really want to flex get some custom adapts skates

Just start slow and work your way up. Get comfortable blading fast and riding backwards. Then start jumping over and off of small things. Also, get used to jumping and landing backwards. I'd say to get very comfortable with these things before you ever try aggressive blading.

The reason I emphasize the basics is because it's very easy to look awkward and uncomfortable on skates. Everyone knows this. This is one of the main things people don't want to do and it intimidates new people from really trying it in the first place. But don't worry about that shit because everyone has to start somewhere.

Basically, just relax when you have blades on. Bend your knees and lean forward if you are going fast. Stay low and try not to flail your arms around too much.

Does anyone know how to fix this. These are some TRS Downtown 4's I got for really cheap, but the buckle is really chewed and won't tighten as far as I need it to. Based on the design I dont think I could replace the whole assembly very easily. I was thinking about weather or not filing new notches into the existing strap would work or not. What do you guys think?
>>

newbie here
are these massive wheeled ones designed to be somewhere in-between aggressive and "regular" skates? is this three wheel meme a new trend or it's been around forever?
>>
>>21420
Maybe you could use a belt as a makeshift strap, if there's no way to fix that one.
>>
>>21426
Triskates go faster and can ride on bumpier terrain but are hard for beginners to get the hang of
>>
>>21420
Post pic of where belt attaches to cuff. Usually these are replaceable but I don't know anything about your brand.
>>
>>21426
>is this three wheel meme a new trend or it's been around forever?

There were some early skates that that came with three wheels for recreational. But no, they are a relatively new thing. Powerslide is the one that really pushed it, and everyone has now followed suite so i guess you can call it a meme.

I tried a high end three wheel setup (Powerslide Tau by 3x110). I didn't feel different all that different to 4 down. I do prefer 4 down for maneuvering and turning, it feel better. Plus you are really high off the ground with 3 large 100mm+ wheels which i don't like. I prefer 90mm 4 down for my size 9 foot. Three wheel is a meme to me.
>>
>>21426
They're more like what's in-between recreational skates and speed skates. Big wheels carry more speed. Speed and downhill skates tend to have really long frames with 4 or more big wheels. Those long frames aren't super maneuverable though. By cutting it down to 3 big wheels you get speed and manuverability at the cost of some stability (which is why people like to say triskates are harder for beginners, but the difference isn't so big that you can't cover it with practice).

Doesnt really have anything to do with aggressive skating. Has more to do with the rise of urban / freestyle skating. It's as much as a meme as any "style" of skate, it's part marketing but there's a legitimate niche it fills.

>>21475

I hope you are jesting anon.

1. Don't blade for one thing. You automatically look cringe once you put them on. Go skateboard if you want to look "cool" to cretins and non sports people
2. Your setup will mean jack shit if you don't know how to use it. Doubly so if its painfully obvious if you are new rider and look like a newborn fawn trying to walk. Your most expensive adapt skates wont make you skate better. You will just look like a person who has a race car and who doesn't know how to use it.

People that care about "image" to this degree are the actual gay faggots. AKA Posers. But somewhat answer your question. Just get a hardshell boot, 72mm at the least with at least 243mm spacing in between (more spacing in between if you are more than a size 9 to be honest). Learn how to accelerate, jump, turn, stop, switching to fakie and forward both ways, accelerating and decelerating fakie, looking over both shoulders, etc. All starting on flatland of course

No one will care what setup you have if people see you know how to skate. If this sounds too much go play JSRF or something

Knee and Palm guards are really useful. Don't know how many times I've been bombing a steep hill, car pulls out and dropped to my knee pads to stop. I can do powerstops as well, but on steep hill it can be pretty risky, learning to fall, especially using it to quick emergency break, is pretty important.
If you do aggressive, get a helmet, but honestly you're rarely going to fall backwards on skates.
>>
>>21945
Hip pads, too, theyre basically the most invisible pads you can get i beat up my hips ALOT with only knee pads and wrist guards got hip pads and damn, my pads became my fucking ARMOR

Jumps, if you fuck up a jump you go backwards, did that the other day on a basic bitch small jump over something i didnt really need to jump, was too leaned back and fell back on my ass needed icy hots atfter
>>
>>21987
Seconding hip pads, they wont keep you from getting seriously injured but they will prevent so many annoying bruises and bone-creaking slams that they're absolutely worth it, especially when you're pushing yourself and learning new tricks. If you've ever slammed hard enough that it kinda ruined the session even if it didnt send you to the hospital you know what I mean.

Fuck yeah my blades are finally here. Size 14US RB110 3WD thought they'd look comically large but seem proportional to me, of course I'm used to my giant ass shoes. Haven't gotten out yet, but so far it's easy enough to balance on a single foot and everything, feels perfectly stable and I haven't been on skates since in well over 20 years. Do people just have shit balance or something?
It's a bit foggy and wet this morning, but once the sun comes out and clears everything up I'm going to head down to a park with a nice wide MUP and see how it goes.

Also glad I didn't go with the 13, according to measurements my foot should have fit but my toes are snug against the end in the 14. I mean seriously how do people wear like a size 8 or something and not look ridiculous on their tiny feet? Are they all 5'2" or something?

X games has a poll on their youtube on which sport you'd like to see back in the x games. Obviously nothing will ever come from it but what would they even put rollerblading in? It'd only be interesting for the lay person if it were big air (i.e. mega ramp) or maybe half pipe. But at the current time, there are almost no half pipe and mega ramp capable skaters so it'd be pointless anyway. Technical tricks like Eugen Enin are a blur to non-skaters. Thoughts?
>>
>>26425
i think big transition courses are the best bet to wow skaters and outsiders alike, blades really shine on em
>>
>>26425
Aren't the yasutoko bros still at it? At least, I remember Takeshi still skates.
>>
>>26429
That's basically ski slopestyle, which definitely isn't as exciting for someone to watch as compared to big air. Falling on slopestyle ruins the run and that's that, plus rollerblading tricks aren't big like ski tricks.

>>26482
This is the problem, the only thing we can rely on are guys from the past that easily aren't up to par with other action sports.
>>
>>26425
FISE freeskating stuff is honestly way better than it's skateboarding equivalent. Skating is at it's best when it's about speed and finding the best lines while doing tricks on the way.
https://youtu.be/5cifA5qfeKk?t=2902
>>
>>26693
i love the transitions of this course but i dont think it would hurt to throw in some rail or ledge sections as those are huge parts of aggressive inline
>>
>>26425
I would watch it if the spots were street. Meaning no park, no ramps.
>>
What's the speed difference between 110x3 and 80x4?
Wouldn't mind getting faster skates (on FR80s) but it's pretty steep hilly around here and I don't feel like flying down busy roads at 100kmph.
>>
>>27870
It isn't so much that big wheels are faster then they make more use of your stride and they coast for longer. If your stride isn't efficient, then you won't notice a difference unless you're into downhill. Triskates are easier to slide on though, since you're breaking traction on all the wheels instead of just the rear wheels.

My gf wants to get into inline skating (or quad if it's cheaper but quad skates are weirdly more expensive it seems). She asks me for advice since I bike a lot but I don't know shit. Im worried because she can be really clumsy and injury prone but also I do know if she really tries at something she will eventually get good at it. What are some good beginner skates? Mostly she would be skating around a newly remodeled park with a lot of flat surfaces and sidewalk trails.

hard shells are more durable if you are gonna be falling alot or trying more aggressive street stuff like jumps etc. but they can rub and may not fit as comfy
soft shells will be way more comfy but flex alot more so will be less responsive and feel sloppy

Next, FRX/W, Cruiser, Zoom, F6S All <$150 skates that are pretty quality.

Here's a weird advice for turning, train 180 switches and try to turn going backwards. It was WAY easier to understand turning when going fakie for me, maybe you can learn something from that
>>
>>31222
Feet parallel, inside leg leading, lean into the turn
>>31227
Drag stop, 90% weight on front foot, drag back foot at 90 degree angle. Alternate feet so you wear out your wheels more evenly. Or use an actually brake.

Any tips for truly fucked surfaces? There's this parking lot that baffles me because of how impossible it seems to move on it. Just really worn all over like a jagged battlefield.
>>
>>31612
Not skating on them is a good choice. But seriously, unless the lot is all covered in debris and holes, you can at least skate around in low speed. Just how fucked is it?
>>
>>19071
My arches hurt like hell when I Rollerblade, how can I fix this?
>>
>>31672
Get some decent liners and proper in-soles
>>
>>31624
Fucked to the point that I'm not convinced there's any part of it where low speeds will work. It's constant trip territory and not due to debris, just a really erratic texture. I'm not good tho, so I don't doubt that an expert could do it, but even the second worst surface I've been on is like night and day compared to this level of erosion. I could see it working if you maintain speed entering the chaos, but it would require balance I lack. Trying to start a roll on this lot just locks me up into a stumbling mess until I'm back on the road.

Maybe I'll use it periodically as a testing ground to gauge my improvement.

Freeskates really should come with small soulplates built into them. The Powerslide Next sort of already does this, but because of the trinity mount, you would be grinding on the bolt connection points.
Want to put the Seba FR Soulplate on my skates, but don't have a drill and I hear they're a bitch to install. Almost damn near impossible to find as well.
>>
>>31104
Let some skiiers in the park ride by skates yesterday when they asked if they could try.
They said it was "basically the same" but was also completely different because the weight distribution is different, in skiing you sit back apparently and you can apparently basically lean forward, sit back etc without any risk of falling over, they found it hardest to adapt to the fact they needed to lean forward heavily while on blades, but they did pick it up eventually pretty quickly.

what aggressive skates should I get as a beginner?

>>
>>32409
The USD Sway has a big soul plate which should make grinding easier. I have an average width foot and it was a little wide for me, but not so much that it effected my skating.
rollerwarehouse.com and oakcityskate.com are usually what I use. Everyone's low on stock or out, so you'll want to check them at least once a day.
>>
>>32521
those look like a good start, thanks anon
I've also heard good things about the razor cults, do you have any experience with those?
>>
>>31549
Everyone has a dominant side. I have the same issuw but fixed it with some practice. Pay attention to which foot your weight is on, for parallel turns weight distribution changes how the turn handles pretty significantly. Odds are good that you are leaning too far forward but I'm sure if you play with it you will figure it out

Normally I freeskate and do Slalom, so I'm pretty experienced on doing some jumps, some tricky leg and footwork and have very good balance. Backwards lemons were a big step for me. Keep low so your balance is more towards your toes than your heels. You'll eventually get the hang of it.

When people say they want to blade in "Mushroom blading" style, and they have these Wizard skates and such which is associated with "Mushroom blading" style, what do they actually mean? From just that video before, seems like Mushroom Blading is a blading crew? What makes it different from standard aggressive and freeskating?
>>
>>33700
It's a style of blading that mixes Slalom and Aggressive skating, to make a form of Aggressive skating that looks more like a crazy caporea figure skating dance. They also utilise a lot of street objects and obstacles in extremely creative and unique ways.
Wizard frames are super precise natural rockered frames that allow Mushroom skaters both the stability of flat, along with the manoeuvrability of rockered. They are also expensive as fuck.
