it really depends on the wheel hardness and the ground you'll ride on. Harder wheels are good on flat street ground, they won't stick to the ground as easy as soft wheels and slide easier. Soft wheels are more fit for reducing impact on rougher ground, these usually come on most cheap skates, I found. If you ever skate on rougher terrain, I'd recomend using the stock brakes to slow down.

Also, invest in some hip pads. Gform is good, there's a few different brands, but when I started I just bought football-style hip/thigh pads and cut off the thigh pads.
