Strickland ripped Izzy apart thread by thread. Dominating him for the vast majority of the fight. Blocking, dodging, countering, maintaining tempo, and controlling vital regions of the octagon. It's rare to see such top to bottom domination in a title fight.

Contrast this with a fight where a fighter throws a huge right hook and randomly gets a KO. KO punches can be calculated, but in many cases, they are just random haymakers being thrown. What happened last night in Strickland v Adesanya was an absolute master class.

In short, casual mma observers don't understand the meaning of 'art' in mixed martial arts.

Izzy has gotten knocked out and still did the press conference afterwards because the victory can be written off as 'fighters luck'. It's easy to digest a loss when you can attribute it to 'he just got lucky ill get him next time.'

But what Strickland did to Izzy was such an ass whooping the China man couldn't even hold himself together for the post-fight interview. He knows he got his ass so throughly destroyed that he can't boast 'ill get him next time.' Izzys soul was ripped out.
