I've been skating for past few weeks after having like a 5 month break. Before that I learned just the basics like pushing, turning, stopping. Anyways today I had a pretty weird session, I've been practicing my ollies and for some reason I've been quite afraid and not really doing well with anything, which is strange because day before that I was doing pretty ok, I was nicely loosened up and I've been really going hard at those ollies. And it didn't help that before I ended my session I had quite a hard fall on my ass and I cracked the tail of my board. My question is, what was that fear? Why was I afraid of something I've been practicing for some time now? Was it just one of those days?

There is something about al brunelles skating which is unappealing. I don't think it's his style because despite being really tall he looks pretty good. I think it's that when he skates a bowl he literally does a fancy trick almost every time he hits the coping. So now I have two sprained ankles. I can't do flip tricks because my first sprained ankle isn't letting me flick... But my brother invited me to the park and I decided I'd work on some QP tricks and just do some Ollie's and 180s. I just got a board and skated for the first time in maybe 17, 18 years.I feel less afraid, I can kinda ride fakie, I was too terrified to even try in my teens. I even landed a few static ollies. I tried and tried and tried as a teen and could never get it (I think I realized a couple years ago I wasn't even trying to jump back then and have had it in the back of my mind to try that). The board is a big box pos but I threw in some abec 7 "steadfast" bearings I picked up like 6 years ago for something else, and I have some 80A Amazon wheels on the way since I grew up with and loved softer wheels. The board was a "Duke" brand, it was heavy AF but I loved how it rolled. Idk what the hardness rating was though it wasn't popular to label that back then.

>>167472lol ironically I was in the ironworkers union apprenticeship. even if I had time to skate I didnt want to be cause I didnt want to get hurt, that means you cant work and cant do shit in school. it also makes you look bad. there was one other dude in my class who skated and he got a 3 month wrist injury trying to kickflip a funbox and he got reamed out by the school, the hall, and made himself seem like an idiot to all the other apprentices.
