I was never able to get far in this until now. Before, after a few days I began feeling way too much pressure to override my senses as horrifying monstrous entities that don't feel like they belong force themselves into my dreams or corrupt my thoughts during the day. This was a paralysing phenomena until I decided to get into some of the hardest rock genres I could find. Embarrassingly I'm only now realising that when my destructive addictions started as a kid from an abusive childhood I basically lost all interest in any type of rock music at the exact same time as it slowly dwindled away the next 2 years. But listening to fast distorted guitars and a person just screaming nonsense into my ears is like a demonic repellent. The satanic imagery is strengthening too because it turns something horrendous that I was afraid of into something higher, art, it loses its power. It was difficult to begin listening to this stuff initially because it almost felt like I had been brainwashed to dislike it or I unconsciously avoided it for some strange reason, it was also a painful type of healing like the music was ripping leeches that had been attached to my heart. I barely use internet forums anymore but came here to share this if it can help one other person.If you had something similar before any destructive addictions started try to revive it. Or it's worth trying out what I described. If I crave drinking or whatever I just turn on death metal. May sound cliche but this has been a godsend.
