its versatile and you should try to use your best judgement when to use it. the first thing i did after checking into a somewhat seedy hotel in albuquerque and bringing my bag up was go outside and smoke. when i tried to go back in the through the side stairwell, my card wouldn't work. i go back in through the lobby and find myself locked in the security foyer with a barefoot man wearing nothing put a jacket and his underwear, his toe nails painted pink. he's in a meth psychosis rambling and scattering his possessions across the counter. my card won't open the door to the main lobby either. i'm high as hell and trapped in there with this dude, and i'm trying to tell the lady at the counter to unlock the door. a composed and well dressed man at the counter in the lobby looks at me, suppresses an odd sort regretful, angry sneer and then exits through the foyer i'm locked in. i get into the lobby and go up to my room. i have to do the stupid jiggle the handle trick to get the card to work but i manage to get back into my room. i think i can hear voices on the other side of the wall that has one of those adjoining doors. somehow, i ended up sleeping well and enjoying the amount of static i could see on the blankets.
