there is no truth, except that OP is ALWAYS a faggot

the free will of determinism, and the determinism of free will
in this way, every moment lived is exactly the same as the birth of the universe
>>
>>30355285
The 'ism is the truth.
>>
>>30355285
If there is consiousness above physical form, which is what I believe, free will is truth.
If you are a pure materialist, then determinism is something you can easily believe, when I was an atheist it is what I believed.
>>
>>30355285
You can do anything but that won't save you from having to do everything. So it's neither.
>>
Truth cannot be glimpsed at by the discriminating mind
>>
>>30355285
It's randomness or determinism. Free will doesn't exist in either case.

Every dimension every dichotomy there is a tuning of truth depending on the situation

This is the answer to everything your welcome
>>
wrong question imo. practically speaking, we have free will. holistically, its deterministic. the 'catch', is that existence itself isnt chronological/synchronistic. the death of the last human was written long ago. it will just "take a long time" "for it to happen", whatever the fuck that means. thats human speech. but the truth is and always will be

god gave schopey one of the greatest minds to ever exist, solely so he could sit around berate and judge everything and everyone. pretty based ngl
>>
Is there any practical use for this question being answered?

Legal systems can issue punishments fine without ever asking it.
Any non-retarded moral system is consequentialist anyway.

BASED NATURAL LAW
>>
>>30355285
There is no free will, your future is already decided for you.
Look at it this way, all the billions of stars you see in the night sky are no longer there, they are already hundreds/thousands/millions/trillions of years ahead on their timeline, yet you see them in the past and the same applies to us
Anyone watching us from a sufficient distance will see our past, even though we are already in the future, thus our future events are already predetermined, despite not having happened yet from that point of view.
>>
>>30355285
both are fine as long as you give meaning. without meaning, both are useless

If dueling between consenting adults were legalized it could be both.

Until then, get off here, you need your social credit to buy McDonalds.
>>
>>30356103
If that is what you believe then surely you will get your wish. Just remember what you are asking for in terms of natural law. No more comfy, no more vidya, no more Internet.

Think about what you're beckoning.

I think it's sort of like breathing: you can breath unconsciously and automatically in which case you are not exercising your free will, or you can focus on the breath and consciously breath in and out, in which case you are

Free will and determinism exists on a spectrum that people variably fall on either side of. Free will can be cultivated, but only by those who reach some minimum of already present free will. Some "people" (hylics) act deterministically and will remain so.
>>
theyre not mutually exclusive retard. i dont feel like typing a lot cus phoneposting but basically you have a specific birth time and location with culminates into everything you are, no doubt about that. however, you make your own decisions during this lifetime. you chose to come here and experience this. but its all predetermined. stupid question loser lol
>>
>>30355285
How could there be true freedom of will without omnipotence? Without knowledge of all possible outcomes, you are only free to make shots in the dark. We have a will which could be free, but it is oppressed by ignorance.
>>
>>30355285
Free will, but the father already knows everything that's gonna happen, but he doesn't step in directly.
>>
>>30355481
Free will is never defined
I'm with you in that randomness is slavery--but every choice is automatically outside of our control, every choice is us picking between our "options", which reality controls. Not us.

Even if "free will" is a thing--somehow, whatever they mean--this reality forces choices upon us, we do not choose new realities.

Amen! We all have a hand of cards and God deals them all out, good and bad alike.

Humans have no power of their own. They are ruled by biological laws and conditioning from the past. Every time someone yelled at you or even raised an eyebrow at something you said, that is pretty permanently fixed element of reality to you going forward in life, and that's how you build your reality. Deciding which elements of your life (Though everything is an element of reality) are actually going to define who you are.

God created a diorama then sent himself down to experience living in the diorama. His little figurines have no life of their own, and if God didn't dwell in them they would be lifeless clay. But since God lives in them they not only move and live and fight and die, they are awake to experience their living.

God is the observer behind all action. Every single reaction in the universe is watched by God and he is behind it. The reactions happen of their own accord, nothing in the world can prevent the reaction of two elements if they are exposed to one another. But God is the one who puts those two elements together. It's really just improv because the figurines can only react to what previous figurines have done before, and God's like "so this happened to you because of all these countless calculations in the world, what are you going to do about it now?" And your next action is pushing the wheel of karma faster. You are going to act based on your conditioning, you can't escape that, but through God you can re-condition yourself.

You take control of the elements in your experience and you choose which ones you identify with. That is real magic.

Free will only exists in the moment. Otherwise you're reacting from a previous subroutine you have set for yourself.

Go read Sartre "Being and Nothingness". Soft determinism is true, hard determinism is unknowable. Free will is also true, but it's not as free as one might assume as it's always mired in facticity. But that we have the ability to choose and that those choices involve aspects that fall outside of the causal chain as described by determinists is both a blessing and a curse. Existential phenomenology will set you free.
>>
>>30355285
Impossible to proof but i think its both true. Its a paradox. But if you trust your brain then Determinism is the truth and thats to scary to accept for most people
>>

I only breath automatically now because im reading your post. The things around us effect and control us the own body(dna) included
>>
>>30355285
People quit addictions despite their bodies/mind telling to continue their addiction. Isn't that free will?
>>
>>30355285
Compatibilism. You can choose whatever you want, but you'll only ever choose what you're going to choose. Get it?

People always yak about experiments involving the subconscious disproving free will, and I never really understood why.
>Look, your brain signaled that you were going to choose this before you were consciously aware of it!
Ok - aware of it or not, who made the decision?
>>
>>30355285
free will leads to determinism. from chaos comes order.

This is a simulation, free will exists, everyone will be judged by the end of their lives
>>
>>30355285
I would say both
>>
>>30355285
we are determined to have free will
>>
>>30355285
Free will is an illusion because every possible reality already exists.
>>
>>30355285
reality by necessity operates with free will, that's an easily provable metaphysical fact
however, free will is a form of determinism, because choices are determined using free will, as opposed to randomness (which does not exist)
perhaps what you meant to contrast free will with was predeterminism, which is also false
