Sup /x. I was debating if I should post this story, but after a few weeks of nothing happening, I decided to say fuck it and post it. So first, some context. I work as a ranger in the Bargunzinsky state natural reservoir near the lake Baikal. Over the past years I've come to find out that lake Baikal is a very fucked place. So here's a few of my experiences
I'll start off with a few oddities
Aside from the usual ice rings, Baikal zen, vehicles/animals/people stuck in ice, there are oddities like unknown ships appearing on foggy days. I remember spotting a few unidentified ships in my time and I've heard stories of really old looking ships appearing in the fog. Another creepy thing that happens is dead animals washing up. Now that's nothing out of the ordinary, but some of the animals wash up completely hollow. Anything from fish to birds to even seals. Speaking of washed up animals, sometimes people stumble across the corpse of a golomyanka. Pic is what the fish looks like so you can't blame people for being scared shitless when they see one.

Unironically Colorado is haunted as shit. I used to live in (before 420ayylmao) a small town in the early 2000's. We left when I was 7 but from when I concious till we left I constantly heard voices. Not every waking moment, but whenever it was quiet I would hear someone call my name or just hear like a brief conversation, even if my parents were on the opposite side of the house. Mind you, this was a rather large house and if you didn't yell you weren't hearing someone at that range.

Eventually I couldn't take it. That thing fucked with my vision, senses and even speech. So I was forced to move in with my sister in Chelyabinsk. It seems like proximity to the lake is what affects me. I still get nightmares and shit from time to time, but I don't know if it's some psychological thing or that thing.

It went out of sight and no it wasn't just a sea serpent. I'm gonna try to describe the creature best I can.
First it's face. The best way I could describe is like a cross between a human, a shark and a lizard, it's skin is definitely smooth. It's mouth was lined with sharp teeth and the shape of a smile. It had green eyes, idk if they were glowing or if it was only how the light reflected of them. And it also made this gross, deep chuckling sound. It's body also moved in a very strange way. Each visible segment seemed to move independently from another.
That's about all I can tell you

Not gonna lie, that part is kinda disturbing my suspension of disbelief. I wasn't expecting superntural undertones in what seemed like a pretty believable cryptid story to a point but the whole prison and whatnot element is kinda meh.
Even more meh is how you just watching footage that didn't seem more scary than what one can see on the TV nowadays messed you up this much. But okay, let's say underwater eldritch abomination of a snake is a telepath and it messed with you through a recording somehow. There wouldn't be a point to it. Also, being so traumatized and having nightmares about such stuff also wouldn't happen - I know Lovecraft was big on such stuff, but again, IRL we get seemingly more scary shit for cheap or free on the internet, and we get it for entertainment.
