What’s the best way to build a website?
Start small and simple, and iterate slowly as you get each feature working the way you want it
>>1420065- install Wordpress (or pay someone to install or host Wordpress for you)- log in- pick theme- write some pages - download extensions for whatever shit you want the site to do beyond just being a website
>>1420067FUCK. THAT. OP you need to do everything from scratch because I said so and that means you will be writing your own html/css, javascript, and sql/.net for backend. From scratch. or else you a bitch
>>1420068But I’m a noob at coding; would hosting from a website builder or paying a dev to build a site be better?
>>1420072Ignore that guy. Just pay for some wordpress thing.
>>1420065What kind of website? If it's just a place to put some writings, then even Wordpress is overkill, but it may still be the easiest option. My website has a few pages containing some math programming I wanted to show friends. It probably doesn't have any visitors besides them. (I don't bother to use analytics.)When I make a new page it's just an html file I drag&drop via ftp.
>>1420076>Ignore that guy.Dude that's obvious sarcasm and hyperbole:>>1420068>you need to do everything from scratch because I said soCome on man, did you have your sense of humour removed surgically?>I was just playing alongsure
>>1420065the best way? raw html or a custom built static site generator with your own themingfor you? wix idk
it entirely depends on what you're using it for. if all you want to do is blog and host images and links then you may as well just use a pre-made website builderfor anything more complicated (e.g. intricate animations, complex operations in javascript) you're better off writing it from scratch. web code isnt that hard to learn, especially if you dont need a database
>>1420068It'll depend on what kind of website you wanna make, but if it's just a blog you can probably learn all the html css and javascripst you need to in like 20 minutes. It's super easy and there's no reason not to if you're not doing anything complicated on you're website.
>>1420124>>1420160between these two responses, it's basically always better to make the website from scratch unless you're a fat lazy fuck that cant spend half an hour learning basic html/css
>>1420160I want to sell stuff.
>>1420167shopify. Dont im not putting my credit card details on a meme site, plus managing stock and what shows up on the site dynamically isnt a 20 minute job.
>>1420171>ShopifyThere’s no better way to build a site to sell stuff?I’d pay a dev to build me a site. Are all of them on Fiverr or elsewhere?
>>1420178don't do that unless you want to deal with pajeets lmao. If you're site goes down who will take responsibility for the lost sales? Not the fiverr guy ill tell you that. In fact hes incentivized to make it shit so he gets paid again to fix it.Shopify is selling you web hosting and inventory management as a service, if they fuck up then you can leave so they have the right incentives.Any service similar to shopify will work too.
>>1420192>pajeetsKek no worries anon. I’d hire Western Devs not Pajeet scammers. I personally want to have a website that isn’t hosted by a website builder if possible.
>>1420196do you have mockups for what it should look like and just need the backend stuff implemented? or are you looking for someone to design and also program everything?
>>1420196why? you dont know how to run a webserver so if youre doing something like running a business I dont recommend it
If you're absolute fucking noob, dont even use wordpress. Even with that theres some "coding" required, and shit is annoying to use.I suggest squarespace. they have shop plugins and that one is truly retard proof to build
>>1420227The latter, any idea where to connect with such a dev?
install this thats included with win 10/11
>>1420276sorry no i dont, but if this isnt extremely time-sensitive then i could probably help you out. not comfortable posting here but i have a website that i made for myself that you can take a look at if youre interested. it's not a shop but ive seen how some credit card API's work
>>1420437dmed you!
>>1420437I’d appreciate any help I can get.
>>1420448i dont know what this means in the context of 4chan lol. is this a 4chanX thing?>>1420510if discord is okay you can add me there. yinnyonlinewe can at least get you set up with a simple website to start with and then work from there
>>1420536sorry, wrong username. it's yinnydesu
It looks good
>>1420759im literally retarded, meant to make this its own thread.
>>1420756You’re fine, anon. Though I‘m a bit wary of free help, as most people don’t usually offer help without a price. All I care about is advice on what to do. If I need to hire someone to build the site, I’d like to know what webpage/app is appropriate to reach out to them.
>>1420762i was planning on charging lol but okay, makes sense
>>1420067i didnt know you can use WordPress with out paying
A lot of youtube sponsors are Squarespace or Wix.Don’t know if Shopify is good, I think that’s usually just for dropshipping.
>>1420776Yeah, it's free and open-source. They try to upsell you to Jetpack which is their cloud services thingy, but you don't need Jetpack to run Wordpress.
